♥ ♥ l e v i. there's always some reason to feel not good enough and it's hard at the end of the day. Outside, winter was already making its daunting approach and showing off with an early show of snowflakes. The skies were alive with thousands of little crystals, and the temperature had dropped an uncomfortable amount in the past few days. The majority of those who chose to venture into the chilly air were all wrapped in sweaters and scarves, but for the most part the students were safely hidden away within Hogwarts’ walls. The Common Rooms of every house were rather packed, and Hufflepuff's was no exception.
One particular member of said house was curled up in a plush yellow armchair, quietly reading a novel and enjoying the warmth of the fireplace. He was dressed in his typical brightly-coloured and tight-fitting muggle clothes, namely black skinny jeans and an electric blue shirt, and he was peacefully ignoring the chatter of the rest of his housemates. These days it wasn't uncommon for the Common Room to be as full as it was today, but no one ever bothered him so the child didn't really mind much. Anyway, he had planned to meet with someone in here rather soon, so it wasn't as if he could go to the library in the first place.
Kris. Despite his friend being a Ravenclaw, they had agreed to meet among the black and yellow decorations that clearly marked Hufflepuff territory. It wasn't as if people really respected the rule of staying out of other houses' Common Rooms these days, anyway, and Kris wasn't all that uncommon of a visitor. Due to his dating a Hufflepuff, the other boy was in an out quite frequently, and no one ever seemed to mind much.
Levi shifted his position a bit, so that he was sitting cross-legged in the chair instead of being curled up into a sort of ball, and proceeded to read. His friend would doubtlessly be here quite soon, and he wanted to finish up this chapter. [ Oh dear, epic fail with this post. I'm sorry. D; ]

Kristian had finished his last essay for the night, with only five minutes to spare until he was supposed to meet Levi. The small Hufflepuff always reminded him of Louis, a sweet and innocent boy who deserved only good things. They had taken to each other quite some time ago and he had been pleasantly surprised when the younger boy had asked him to meet him in the Hufflepuff Common Room that night. And slightly worried. They usually didn’t plan to hang out, it just happened. It made him wonder if there was something Levi wanted to talk about, and whether or not it was something bad.
The thought that someone might upset Levi upset the older Ravenclaw, and he tried to make his way down to the cellars as quickly as he could. Of course, getting his robes stuck to his chair wasn’t exactly helping that, and he fussed over the black fabric for a moment, finally managing to get himself unstuck after a few minutes. He was sure that he looked absolutely ridiculous, but it didn’t look like many people were around to watch him. Most of the Ravenclaws were off in the library or reading in a corner, barely paying attention to their clumsy housemate. It wasn’t like this hadn’t ever happened before.
As he hurried through the castle, his scarf wrapped around his neck though it didn’t stop the shivering, he could see his breath coming out in small white puffs. He was freezing and looking forward to curling up near the fire with his friend. Thanks to Louis he was always up to date on the Hufflepuff password, and it took him a few more minutes to climb through the portrait, nearly making a fool out of himself when he crashed to the ground with a small sound. Today was not his day. Brushing imaginary dust off of his robes, he finally headed over to the fire, smiling at Levi as he sat down. ”Hey”

♥ ♥ l e v i. there's always some reason to feel not good enough and it's hard at the end of the day. Blue eyes continued to slide across the pages, drinking in the story, until the boy came to see a bold "chapter thirteen" lingering at the top of the next page. He wanted to read more, simply because it was an interesting book, but he resisted. He would have to wait. Closing the novel, Levi placed it carefully on the arm of the chair and allowed his gaze to flick from person to person in the room. He knew the name of almost every single student in his house, and so he pointlessly recited those names in his head. Lorcan, Rhea, Lily, Fred.. He doubted any of them knew him but he didn't really mind. He tried to blend in, so he didn't expect people to notice him.
As soon as Owens had finished naming the Hufflepuffs in the Common Room he averted his gaze to the entrance, flinching a bit when he noticed that Kris was already inside. The Ravenclaw dusted off his robes quickly and then looked up, walking on over to the boy on the chair and sitting. A soft smile spread its way onto Levi's lips at the other's greeting, and he nodded a bit in return. "Hi."
He was glad that Kris was here, but he wasn't exactly sure what he was going to talk to him about. At first he had intended to get advice and hear Kris's opinions on Levi's feelings toward someone, but now he was reconsidering. He thought that it might be slightly awkward to talk to Kris about his feelings for one of his housemates, and anyway, Levi wasn't completely sure about those feelings. He was a boy, and the person he thought he might sort of like was also a boy. I'm...not gay though...it's probably just...a friendship feeling...right?

Kris curled up close to the fire, trying to warm himself by rubbing his hands together, a warm glow cast onto his face as he looked at Levi. It was so cold out that most people stayed safely inside their Common Rooms, rather than roaming the castle, even if it was in search of some companionship. The Hufflepuff room was packed pretty tight, but due to the murmurs, they would be able to talk and remain unheard by the younger boys housemates.
”You wanted to talk to me?” His voice was soft, green eyes scanning the smaller boys frame to see if there was any indication about the subject they were going to discuss. He would ask Levi if he was alright, if something had happened and should he beat up someone, but he didn’t want to scare him off in case it was an important subject. So he just stayed quiet, smiling encouragingly at the other boy before glancing at the people in the room.
Louis wasn’t around, which meant that he was either in the library or spending time with one of his friends. He always loved how protective most people were of his boyfriend. Louis Weasley was the most important thing in his life and the thought of him hurting somehow always made him very upset. It was wonderful that he could count on so many people to look out for the younger boy, so he was able to focus on his few other friends every once in a while.

Levi looked away from the other, allowing his eyes to rest on the flames for a minute. What if he told the Ravenclaw about Rhys and he only laughed or treated him like it was some fluffy childrens' crush? That would be extremely embarrassing. It was quite frequent that Levi got treated as if he was younger than he actually was, and he absolutely hated it. Just because he was shy didn't take away from the fact that he was fifteen.
"Uhm," he said softly, still watching the fire, "yeah. I just..um. How are you?" Of course, he strayed from his original intent, still too busy worrying about Kris's reaction. He trusted the Ravenclaw more than he trusted most people, but still...he couldn't bring himself to spill his heart out right at the moment. Perhaps he'd just ease into talking about Rhys -- that would most likely be the easier path to take.
Glancing down at his jeans, Levi absentmindedly pulled a lone strand of hair off of the black fabric and flicked it aside. That was the downfall of wearing black; every bit of fluff and fur that came in contact was completely noticeable. Fortunately, magic made removing the fur a hell of a lot easier.

Kristian frowned, looking at him and the way the boy was absently pulling at his trousers. Something seemed to bother him, but he didn’t seem comfortable with sharing it yet. Unlike most people, Kris was patient, knowing that not everyone was able to confide in their friends that easily. Hell, he hadn’t crawled out of his shell until after he’d started dating Louis. Not really anyway. Sure, he’d known people like Rhys and Levi, but it was different now that he felt a little more secure. He was hoping that Levi would meet someone who could do the same for him.
”I’m good. Hung out with Rhys a little this morning. He beat me in wizards chess...and then I finished an essay.” He was unaware of the fact that he had just worked the boy Levi worried about into his conversation, having diverted his eyes towards the fire for a few moments. The Ravenclaw was honestly a little worried, but he knew that pressing the issue would not do the other boy any good. So he gave him time to work up the courage, no matter how long it took. Kris didn’t have anything else to do today, he had made sure of that, just in case Levi really needed a friend.

♥ ♥ l e v i. there's always some reason to feel not good enough and it's hard at the end of the day. The other mentioned Rhys, and Levi turned his head a bit to look at his friend. Did he know? Was Levi that easy to read? The Hufflepuff watched Kris for a moment, trying to catch glimpse of some sort of hint, but he found nothing. It seemed it was just coincidence. Thank God. Levi was glad that his feelings weren't so painfully obvious that the other already suspected them.
Shifting his position once again and leaning back into the chair, the boy returned his own gaze to his jeans and began messing with them again. "That's cool," he said softly, "is...is Rhys doing good?" Levi didn't think that his question gave away too much; it was just an innocent inquiry. Kris couldn't possibly gain any knowledge about the situation from it...could he?
Levi lifted a hand and smoothed down his hair nervously, forcing himself to push the worries out of his head. I fret too much. I just...need to calm down. Kris is my friend; I should just tell him! He won't judge me...he's gay...maybe he could help me..figure things out. Blinking, Levi glanced over at the Ravenclaw once again, wanting to tell him exactly what his stressing was about but holding himself back nevertheless.

"is...is Rhys doing good?"
Oh. Kristian started to form a thought in his head. Could it be...Had Levi...Was this going to turn into some intervention? He hadn’t expected anyone else to notice how badly Rhys was doing without Jasper, but perhaps some had cared to look a little further than most people. Had he seen the cuts on his wrist and decided that maybe together they could confront the Ravenclaw about it? He had to admit that it didn’t fully sound like Levi, but the boy seemed to care a lot about those few friends he had.
”I don’t know” He answered carefully, looking at the Hufflepuff. Even if the other had noticed something, he didn’t want to fully betray Rhys’ trust and tell him what he’d seen. If they figured it out for themselves, okay, but he wouldn’t just go off and tell someone that the boy had been harming himself. After all, with that horrid newspaper around, it could just be the headline of tomorrows issue. ”He seems alright when people spend time with him. But he’s in his room a lot.” Not that Rhys had ever been the most social of people, but it almost seemed as if these days, the mere thought of being around people scared him.

♥ ♥ l e v i. there's always some reason to feel not good enough and it's hard at the end of the day. Their eyes met, and Levi couldn't help but look aside again. He'd always been rather eye-contact shy. It took a lot of time before the kid was able to steadily keep his eyes locked with someone else's. "Oh.." Levi murmured quietly, suddenly feeling slightly upset that he hadn't seen much of Rhys lately. "Well, I hope he starts doing better then.. He doesn't sound..great." Owens's fingers moved to his wrist at that point, where he proceeded to fiddle with one of his many bracelets. They were all obviously crafted out of cheap beads, but Levi wore them nonetheless due to the fact that his own hand had made them. He thought they looked good, too; they fit with his clothing style.
'I wonder why he's been spending all his time in his room...he sounds depressed.' Levi continued to play with his bracelets, examining them but not really paying much attention. 'He did seem rather down last time I talked to him...' The Ravenclaw had to keep himself from sighing. He wished that he knew more about Rhys; they were fairly close as friends, but Levi still felt as if they were strangers at times. He barely knew what went on in his friend's life, and could hardly even guess as to what was causing the other to be so reclusive. 'Maybe its Jasper...Rhys and him used to be together almost all the time..but now he's been spending a lot of time with Gale...' Levi had a vague idea, but his innocent mind only thought of the half of it.

”He doesn’t” Kristian agreed, looking at Levi again. He was suddenly starting to doubt his own theory, now that the younger boy didn’t really pick up on the subject like he had thought he would. It made him wonder again, what the purpose of this talk was, if it wasn’t how Rhys was doing and how they were able to help him. ”We don’t really talk all that much...he prefers to spend time together in silence. But I’m honestly a bit worried...” He ran fingers through his hair, chewing on his lip for a moment.
”Sometimes I wish that he would...I don’t know. Find someone who would make him happy. Jasper does, or he used to. Things have changed between them.” Point was, he didn’t know why Jasper had stopped making him happy. A fleeting thought of there being something more than friendship between them had entered his mind, but even though he wasn’t the best of friends with Jasper, he knew that the other would never hurt Rhys on purpose. Let alone leave him for someone like Gale. No, Jasper still needed Rhys, he was practically sure of it. But there was something wrong and it was affecting Rhys – badly.
