20th July, 2001. Cancer.
Height:
6’2”
Build:
Muscular but not overly. He’s fit and it shows but not outrageously buff.
Wand:
Hazel with Phoenix feather, ten inches.
This wand is strict, definite and precise. Moderately strong it is one of the best all-purpose wands. It is especially good for Transfiguration, where it can be used in very complex practices. In general, does well in all workings which deals with change of objects form and material structure. Indicates owner’s high abilities in magical sciences, as well as his possible connections with various law-structures. Not very good for dark arts but can be very successful used for active attack and defence against them.
Patronus:
Adrian’s patronus is a dog, a great Golden Retriever to be exact. It represents his unending courage, loyalty and his strong will in life and his determination.
Relaxing on the banks of the Shannon River in the golden light of a summer afternoon with his brother laughing beside him.
Boggart:
Rickie, Adrian’s one last family member, dead in a pool of blood.
Dementor:
Rickie shouting that he’s going away to war. Why? Because war is the one place Adrian couldn’t follow and the one place where he couldn’t protect his little brother.
Amortentia:
Freshly baked bread, spearmint, wood smoke, his mother’s perfume.
Nickname(s):
Clothing Style:
Everyday wear is smart but casual. Adrian is always seen in a tan trench coat with dark coloured trousers, a white shirt, a black vest or business jacket, a loose blue tie, black leather shoes and sometimes a dark scarf. He is almost never seen in any other apparel aside from the occasional tuxedo when formal occasions call for it.
Other:
Allergic to almost all healing potions :: Healing spells also don't work as quick as they should on him. He got real lucky there especially in his line of work.
[/ul] the inner workings
Defence Against the Dark Arts, be pretty poor if he didn’t considering he teaches it as a subject.
Animals, easier to get along with than people.
Reading, helps to get his mind off things.
His jobs, being both a professor and Auror keeps his life interesting.
The sound of rain, soothing.
People, even if they don’t exactly get along with him.
Walks, another relaxing way to deal with stress.
Harry Potter, good guy and he knows what he’s talking about.
Trenchcoats, Itslove.
Dislikes:
Disrespectfulness, he’s a teacher/Auror therefore he demands at least a little respect from the general populous.
Bad wizards, it’s only natural with him being a magical law enforcer and all.
The fact that he has no idea where Rickie is, he worries about his little brother.
Vampires, he’s sick of dealing and hearing about any vampire that’s not Vivian. Though now it’s kind of his job to deal with them, damn Ministry.
Disorganisation, but his desk is often an incomprehensible mess so figure that one out.
Ducks, nasty little things.
Peanut Butter, can’t stand the stuff.
Quirks and Habits:
- Taps when bored.
- Runs fingers through hair when agitated.
- Pushes back and checks on his hair at least once a day.
- Lines all his shoes up in his wardrobe.
- Cannot fall asleep at night until he’s checked that every way in to his room is locked.
- Re-reads everything.
- Chews on straws and the ends of pens and pencils.
- Leans back on the back legs of his chairs.
Mirror of Erised:
It switches between his mother and father and a wife and children to call his own.
In Depth Personality:
- Thorough – In whatever he does, he covers all bases and options.
- Good Listener – Adrian has always been one to listen to other peoples’ problems so that he could help with it, though he does not always hear the full story or misinterprets it.
- Brave – Recklessly so. Adrian is not afraid to fight for whatever reason and is most certainly not afraid of dark wizards and magical creatures.
- Loyal – He sticks with someone no matter what. If you’re a friend of his you can always count on him to stay by your side even when things get rough.
- Intelligent – When it comes to dealing with the Dark Arts Adrian knows what he’s doing. He can usually solve whatever problem that’s put in front of him (as long as it’s not Arithmancy).
- Caring – He cares about keeping and teaching others how to be safe in a dark world. He cares about solving magical crimes and putting away the bad guys.
- Determined – In almost all aspects of his life, Adrian is as determined as they come. He is determined to become a better Auror, to teach kids and to protect and help those who need it.
- Short Tempered – Very quick to anger when pushed, it’s a trait that runs in the family.
- Stubborn – Especially when he thinks he’s right. If he has an opinion about something it’s a hard job to get him to change it.
- Impatient – This is only reserved for other adults and goes hand in hand with his stubbornness. When other people are wasting time or trying to tell him he’s wrong he gets incredibly frustrated and impatient.
- Inward – Adrian isn’t really one who lets his feelings show very often at all. He can come off as very withdrawn at times.
- Reckless – Will not hesitate to throw himself into any situation no matter how dangerous it is. Suicidal Gryffindor Maniac.
- Callous – There’s nothing Adrian won’t do to get a job done short of murder.
Self Image:
Overall Adrian is pretty happy with who he is and how he looks. But even though he’s generally happy with his looks he still takes care to look sharp and sophisticated whenever he goes out in public. Like anyone he has a few character defects which he’s not so happy about and he works hard to try and be rid of some of them, but keeps in mind that it is also the minor defects that makes him human. He is very hard on himself whenever he does something wrong or fails at something he attempted, often reducing his confidence in his magical abilities. He is his own worst enemy really.
To the Outward Eye:
He appears very stern to the outward eye. He always has either a frown or an almost quizzical look on his face which gives the impression that he’s always thinking, always working the situation out whatever that may be. Body language is always stiff and his stance is always very upright. All these things make him seem very unapproachable and humourless. Every now and then he loosens up but that is rare especially in his current state.
Social Status:
Unpopular with his co-workers, Adrian takes everything seriously, something the other teachers and Aurors can’t always stand, though it does mean he’s on a better track to advancement in rank. He is friendly enough but he needs to lighten up if he wants to become more popular with the people around him.
Skills:
Good at glaring, can read people well, can memorize a route from a map in two minutes, is good at recalling facts. Can also speak a bit of French, Welsh and Gaelic.

Pets:
Aussie the one year old male Australian Barn Owl. Aside from having an incredibly original name, Aussie is a very handsome example of his species. He has nicely coloured cream, tawny and russet feathers and long, powerful wings to deal with making deliveries in almost any weather.
He is a very even tempered and friendly owl, always willing to deliver whatever needs delivering or to give a friendly nibble every now and again. Aussie is a friend to anyone who gives him any form of affection and will work for almost anyone. He lives for a pat and almost purrs when somebody is gracious enough to do so.
Imported from Australia as a chick he never quite got used to the cold of the United Kingdom and can be found most of the time snoozing in front of Adrian’s fireplace.
Pensieve:
Adrian was born a healthy and happy baby to two loving parents in Dublin, Ireland. To the people of their small village on the Shannon River the Connery family appeared as normal as anyone else but in reality it was anything but. Adrian’s mother Heather was a witch who used magic, like most other people of her world, for everything much to David’s dismay. Adrian’s father was only a muggle and as much as he loved Heather he thought magic was extremely dangerous for Adrian to be around. His fears caused David to threaten to leave and take Adrian with him one night if his wife didn’t stop using magic for every little thing.
Thankfully she agreed and it wasn’t long before the family welcomed another member. As soon as Adrian lay eyes on his baby brother Rickie there awoke a very protective instinct within. Like most siblings growing up there was a fair amount of rivalry between Rickie and Adrian, but more so there was this sense that Adrian had to protect Rickie from every little danger. Rickie did not appreciate being coddled by his parents and, especially, his brother at all.
At the age of seventeen Adrian’s parents were killed in a car accident of all things. Unsure of how to deal with it, he became distant from all his school friends and more of a parent than brother to Rickie. After one particularly heated argument about over-protectiveness Rickie left home and moved in with some friends. Adrian hasn’t seen him since and that was almost six years ago.
Having lost both his parents and brother, Adrian threw himself into the career of an Auror as soon as he left school. He trained under and became good friends with Harry Potter and worked as an Auror in the field quite well. Unfortunately an accident rendered Adrian unable to work in the field for awhile but instead of being stuck behind a desk all day in the Ministry he was recommended for a newly available teaching position at Hogwarts. This all happened so fast he ended up being one of the youngest professors ever to start teaching at Hogwarts.
After a shaky and nervous start Adrian became comfortable teaching and working with students. After two years at Hogwarts he was made Gryffindor Head of House, one of his proudest moments. Another year later the worst moment of his adult life happened; a student was killed. Vivian Nazarova’s death shocked him to his core and left the usually stoic man a wreck for a good while after it. Although she was revived as a vampire Adrian still felt guilty about the total destruction of her human life.
It was his guilt that drove him to team up with Silas Rosier. The strip club owner did his part by tracking down the vampire that had killed Vivian but his services were at a cost. In payment Adrian had to give up his
Eventually all the vampiric drama caused the Ministry to act by pulling Adrian back into active service. He was made to go back for more training, particularly on how to deal with vampires, over Christmas. This was top secret, not one person at the school or in the village knew where he had really gone. All were left thinking he’d gone to Ireland to visit distant family.
As of now Adrian has arrived back from “Ireland” to gather information on vampires and a few other subjects in Hogsmeade. And he’s not alone...

For the first time in a long time Adrian was sleeping restfully. He was fast asleep not worrying about anything much at all. This was an odd feeling for the man, normally he had something highly stressing on his mind like vampires and werewolves and debt of all things. The vampires hadn’t been too much of a problem lately, the werewolves had come and passed and the debt he owed to Silas was almost paid off, even if it had cost a lot of his and Rickie’s inheritance. As long as he didn’t see or hear from any of his stressors he’d be okay.
Adrian awoke as he received a sharp peck from Aussie, his Australian barn owl. He’d forgotten to leave the window opened it seemed. The man mumbled an apology to the disgruntled owl, pulled himself out of bed and shuffled to the window. On the way he tripped over a suitcase, landing on the wooden floor with a dull thud. He’d forgotten about that bloody thing and it reminded him that he hadn’t finished packing yet. It was nearly Christmas which meant he’d be heading to Ireland to visit his parents’ graves and what little family he had left for a few days to a week. Or in other words he’d be heading back to Auror bootcamp for God knows how long.
In nothing but a pair of sweatpants, Adrian picked himself up, dusted himself off and let Aussie out the window. He shivered at the cold winter air and went back to bed, pulling the covers up, grateful for their warmth. For awhile he tossed and turned before finally he got comfortable. It took him awhile but he eventually started to drift back off to sleep. It was then that there was a knock at the door. Half-asleep Adrian groaned and practically rolled out of bed, who the hell was at his room at this time of night? If it was Abe he would skin the man alive.
“What the Hell is- oh Ame, you’re up early or late,” just as he was about to swear at whoever it was he saw it was Amelia Pace through his blear eyes. Instantly he was embarrassed, for some reason he always ended up having no shirt on whenever she was around. ”What are you doing here at this time of night?” he yawned, beckoning for her to come in. He motioned for her to sit in an armchair facing a smouldering fire while he scrounged around for a shirt he hadn’t packed.
