Thin, little muscle

Dress Style:
Everything Tristram wears as to be perfectly cleaned and pressed, and even under his robed he prefers a shirt and a tie to anything else. If he’s relaxing he might lose the tie, but he’s always more comfortable in a shirt, if not a suit.
Specifics:
He wears glasses. Apart from that there isn’t much, if you don’t count how freakishly clean and he is all the time.
In Front Of Friends
Sexual Orientation:
Bisexual, but has such little interest in dating that he’s practically asexual
Self Image:
Tristram tries to avoid introspection as much as he can, mainly because he doesn’t like what he finds there. He doesn’t think he’s a bad person when it comes to others, he tries his best to be kind and fair and thinks he gives everyone a chance, and sometimes more than one. However, there are aspects of his personality he hates. His anxiety disorders make him feel incompetent and he can get paranoid about being a waste of space. He easily falls into self pity, which then leads to self loathing because he hates how week he is, and when he’s in a depressive phase, even things he sees as positive traits in himself become negative.
To the Outward Eye:
If you took a quick glance at Tristram, you’d see someone meticulous and organised, not the lax, inexperienced cover teacher you were hoping for. His clothes are always impeccably pressed, his hair is kept in order and he’s constantly cleaning his glasses. That’s probably the first sign that he’s not as in control as it seems, and the longer you’re around him, more you realise he doesn’t really have that much control at all. He isn’t a very good public speaker, making teaching a class quite difficult - he’ll often just set an essay to do or notes to copy form the text book.
Social Status:
Tristram generally feels he’s looked down upon by his fellow staff members, even if that’s not always the case. He knows he’s pretty much at the bottom of the food-chain, as do his pupils, who often use that to their advantage. Sometimes Tristram is able to keep them subdued, but once in a while a class will entirely take over, and there’s very little he can do.
Positive Traits:
Negative Traits:
Interests:
Likes:
Dislikes:
Patronus:
Tristram’s patronus takes the shape of a duck, as awkward out of water as Tristram is when he’s out of his comfort zone.
Boggart:
Tristram’s boggart tends to take on the form of one of his phobias, turning the room black, or becoming a pool of blood, or a huge crows of people staring at him, and its all Triss can do not to have a panic attack

Subject Taught:

History:
Tristram was born into a happy family, with a witch for a mother and a muggle father. His father had a nervous disposition, which Tristram suspects was a genetic reason for his anxiety disorders. Born a few minutes after him was his twin sister Gemma, who was lucky enough not to inherit any nasty personality issues. They were both brought up with a full knowledge of the wizarding community and were both expected to go to Hogwarts, although their ever-caring mother put them through muggle primary school, just in case.
Tristram’s disorders started manifesting themselves at an early age. He was always scared of the dark, and had to leave the light on when he slept, which his mother would come and turn off once he’d fallen asleep. If he woke up during the night he would scream and run into his parents room, and his dad would have to take him back to his room and sit there, some times reading to him, whilst he fell asleep again.
He and his sister were never especially close, despite being twins, and although they shared a special bond, there was very little they had in common. She became very popular, even when they were just in primary school, where as he actively attempted to alienate himself from people. It wasn’t that he was pushed out of the group, he just wanted no part of it. He was eventually sent to see a school counsellor about it when he was 8, who diagnosed him with Social Phobia and Phobic Tendencies.
After that, his mum mollycoddled him a bit - she’d always been rather overbearing, but became even more so when she found out that he actually had something wrong with him. This served to drive a wedge even further between him and his sister, and made Tristram feel rather uncomfortable. He hated the special treatment he got, didn’t feel he derived it, and felt guilty that his mother didn’t act so caringly towards his sister as well. When they were 10 his sister punched him in the face for saying sorry to much, then when their mother took Tristram’s side, she ran away from home. It took the authorities 3 days to find her, and when she was finally brought back their parents were relieved to see her and mad at her in equal parts.
Things got a little easier on that front when the two of them went to Hogwarts. Tristram was sorted into Ravenclaw whilst Gemma was sorted into Gryffindor. Their mother had been a little disappointed with both outcomes, wanting at least one of her children - preferably Tristram - to have been sorted into her old house, Hufflepuff. However, being at boarding school meant that Tristram was free for ones of his over-protective mother, and with his sister being in another house, they were able to tolerate each other.
But being at school brought its own problems. Suddenly, Tristram had to interact with other people nearly the whole time, and was sharing a dormitory with six other people, so he couldn’t leave the light on. His social phobia flared up, and he isolated himself more than ever. He was given an automatic O in charms in his first year for being the only one his age to have mastered the charm to crate a light that was separate from his wand an years - Tristram had no natural flair for the subject, but had studied constantly for days to perfect it, staying up in the common room because his phobia didn’t permit him to go into the dark dormitory. After that, he always kept the drapes on his four posts shut at knight, using his conjured light to illuminate the small space with no fear of repercussions from his dorm mates, or setting fire to the place during the night.
Unfortunately, work got out that he slept with a light, and Tristram became the subject to a fair amount of bullying. This ended up with Tristram being even further estranged from general Hogwarts society, only this time because he wasn’t wanted as well, not just because he didn’t want to be part of it. It was also at whilst at Hogwarts that he discovered his OCD, and things he’d thought were normal - such as having to tap his wand on something three times before starting any spell - got him branded as a freak.
However, there was an upside to going to Hogwarts - Tristram found something he was actually interested in. He got on well with most of his subjects, but History of Magic and Ancient Runes were what really grabbed him. The only subject he didn’t do very well in was Astronomy, because he was to busy gazing at the starts to actually absorb anything the teacher was saying. In the end, he left Hogwarts with almost perfect grades, but no idea of what to do with his life. He kind of fell into teaching because it was the only job that really incorporated the things he loved.
Tristram’s next set of exams, however, did not go so well. It was at that point he had a nail phobia, and all around him in the exam hall for his Teacher training final exam, people were tapping, scraping their nails on things and biting them. Tristram felt so sick he had to run from the hall having not even completed his paper to throw up violently. He didn’t do well enough in the exam to become a full teacher, so ended up going to Beauxbatons to be a librarian and researcher there. He didn’t mind too much about the actuality of it, as he got to spend most of his times reading up on Ancient Runes, but hated himself for failing, sending into a depressive spiral.
When a post came up recently at Hogwarts to be a substitute teacher, he took it instantly. He’d learned a lot more about the subjects he wanted to teach whilst he was in Europe, and was much more determined to become a teacher. He tried to push his social phobia away, hating how another of his phobias - which has since faded - had let him down before, but never quite succeeded. He has only recently arrived at Hogwarts, and is still adjusting, especially to not speaking French all the time.

Sometimes Tristram is able to keep them subdued, but once in a while a class will entirely take over, and there’s very little he can do.
Positive Traits:
- Fair - Tristram always tries to be just and unbiased at every corner, giving people - mainly students - a fair chance, whether it be to work hard or give their side of a story. He wont judge people until he knows all the facts, or as many as he can, because he knows he wouldn’t like them to judge him.
- Organised - partially stemming from his OCD, Tristram keeps everything he owns in order, and when he wants something he knows exactly where it is, be it a pen, a book, or a pair of socks. Even when he’s just sitting at someone else’s desk, he’ll reflexively order the things that are on it, and will feel really agitated until he’s done so.
- Studious - Tristram has always been one to get his head down and concentrate, whatever the situation. He can be seen attacking the crossword in the Daily Prophet with the same fervour he’d go at his latest ancient manuscript with.
- Resolute - When Tristram has set his mind on a course of action, there’s very little that can sway him from it. Sometimes if he goes at things half heartedly he can be very week willed and give up quite quickly, but it’s an entirely different story when he’s really determined.
- Reticent - Tristram is a very reserved character, hardly ever giving away anything on purpose. Sometimes his nervousness can be easy to read just because of its physical manifestation, but it’s near impossible to tell what he’s thinking, or read any other emotion, unless it’s a very strong one. Of course, this can sometimes act against him, making him seem cold and distant, but for the most part its self preservation.
- Courteous - Even In the most trying of situations, Tristram always tries his best to be polite. He always has a ready smile for people, even if inside he feel terrible. Perhaps part of it is about putting up a mask, but he likes to think its because he’s a good person - most of the time, anyway.
Negative Traits:
- Phobic - Tristram has a predisposition to anxiety disorders, as has had several phobias during his life, including ones of nails and water. Those two he got over, but he has a fear of the dark which he’s had since childhood, a blood phobia that developed in later life, and social phobia which started during school. All of them are extremely debilitating and he has extreme phobic responses, such as nausea and fainting.
- Nervous - partly caused by his social phobia, Tristram gets incredibly nervous when put under the slightest pressure, even when not around people, though that makes it worse. Sometimes he starts shaking and tripping over his words, but most of the time he can keep it in check.
- Obsessive/Compulsive - Tristram suffers form OCD, although he is more compulsive than obsessive. There are certain routines he has to do, or he thinks that disastrous things will happen, ranging from his own death to the end of the world. He has a cleanliness obsession, which has lead him to an abject fear of physical relationships, thinking that they’d make him dirty.
- Self-conscious - Tristram is constantly aware of other peoples eyes on him and paranoid about what they think. If he hears a group of people laughing, he’ll be convinced that its at him and feel terrible for the rest of the day. Its worst when he’s teaching a class and the students have to look at him, which is why he does most of his teaching from the book.
- Self-deprecating - Even when not in a depressive stage, Tristram often sees himself as worthless, or not worthy of other people time. He goes through intense periods of self loathing, hating all his bad traits. If he’s been in an embarrassing situation, he’ll replay it over and over in his head, feeling worse the more he thinks about it, but unable to stop.
- Depressive - Tristram has mild to moderate depression linked to his OCD. He’s not constantly depressed, but goes through depressive phases, during which there’s next to nothing that can make him feel anywhere near happy. At those times, the slightest thing can set him off on a downward spiral and he ends up feeling even more disgusted at himself than he usually does.
Interests:
- Ancient Runes
- Reading others’ research, as well as making his own
- The heavens
- Anything ancient
Likes:
- Learning new things - Tristram has always been a student at heart, in terms of education, at least, and is almost more willing to learn than he is to teach
- Most subjects - Tristram Enjoyed all his subjects as a student, so doesn’t mind teaching other peoples ones too much, even if his heart lies with Ancient Runes
- Order - It’s part of his OCD, he can’t help it
- Stargazing - Probably the only remotely romatic characterstic Triss has. There’s just something compelling about them
- Researching - One of the few times Tristram can be seen actually happy is when he’s burried in his research
- Ancient relics - Having done most of his studies on them, anything older than 100 years generally has a special place in Tristram’s heart [no, that does not include the Headmistress]
Dislikes:
- Mess - Another part of his OCD, he cannot stand mess
- Difficult students - They scare him!
- Himself - Although he agrees with his own actions almost the entire time, he cannont stand his personality
- Animals - Yet another OCD trigger.
- Physical relationships - And another! Tristram prefers to have emotional connections with people, but sometimes even that is a strain.
