A Snowy Owl called Mildred who he reared since birth. Mildred is contrary and will sometimes refuse to do what Scorpius wants, although she tends to behave when she knows he’s being serious. He spends a fair bit of time in the owlery with her, but if anyone else comes up he’ll turn and leave.
Wand Type:
Hawthorne, 10 inches, Unicorn Hair
Appearance
Picture:
Hair Colour:
White-Blonde
Eye Colour:
Grey-Green
Build:
Slim, not especially well muscled
Skin Tone:
Very pale
Height:
5’11”
Dress Style:
Scorpius has a fairly unusual dress sense, favouring waistcoats and braces over the usual choices of wizards his age. Dressing down doesn’t come easily to him, and there’s only one pair of jeans in his wardrobe and he has no idea how they got there, but has never worn them. He has a black, silver and green scarf which he wears a lot of the time, and a thick dark grey greatcoat that he spent a fair bit of money on getting professionally tailored
Specifics:
Scorpius’s nearly white-blonde hair and fine bone structure makes him instantly recognisable as a Malfoy, and he’s fairly tall for his age. He has a fine white scar down his right cheekbone that can only really be seen in certain lights or when it gets cold, which he got from a fencing accident when he was 11.
In Front Of Friends
Sexual Orientation:
Heterosexual, he presumes
Self Image:
Scorpius’ self image is a jumble of contradictions. On the one hand, he sees himself as a Malfoy and proud of it, descended from a long line of grand Wizards, but knowing what some of his ancestors did, and how his father told him that one time of the importance of tolerance confuses him. He desperately wants to please his father and is constantly putting himself down for not being good enough, but this is at odds with his Malfoy pride, which makes him feel like a traitor, and he’s not even sure which side he’s betraying.
To The Outward Eye:
Anyone who claps eyes on Scorpius around other people will probably see what they expect to see - the Malfoy heir, socialite, typical Slytherin with a silver tongue and who looks down his nose at practically everyone else. However, if they were to observe for a little while longer they might notice a few oddities - although he’s usually surrounded by a circle of Slytherins, Scorpius will be civil, if not amiable towards members of other houses. Something else strange they might notice is that, where possible, he excuses himself from social situations and spends a fair bit of time alone. It’d only be if they managed to see him in one of these rare, blissful moment of solitude that they might get a glimpse of who he really is.
Social Status:
Scorpius is somewhat of a reluctant pillar of the social community. He found when he arrived at Hogwarts he was sort of obliged to become popular because of his family, though he would rather be around a smaller group of close-knit friends, if such a group existed. He is seen as slightly odd by his peers, but its accepted because of who is father is.
Positive Traits:
Negative Traits:
Interests:
Likes:
Dislikes:
Patronus:
A Swan - probably caused by some unconscious Ugly Ducking complex. He might not be aware of it, but Scorpius’s fears tend to manifest themselves in all his dealings with magic, good or bad.
Boggart:
Due to the relationship he’s had with his father, Scorpius’ Bogart takes the shape of Draco, sometimes yelling, sometimes not saying anything, but always disapproving

Report:
Scorpius’s teachers know he’s got some wits about him - when he’s directly asked things he gives a well thought out repsonse and can do practical magic well, if required - they just wish he’d apply himself more. Scorpius spends most of his time in a vage daydream, although has become an expert at not letting people realise this, but it does lead to lower grades than he should really be getting.
Personal Statement:
Potions - Scorpius is one of those horrible people who doesn’t have to put any effort into his subjects to get good grades. He really enjoys potions, having a natural gift for it, so just sits back and enjoys the class rather than pushing himself. He is a little annoyed that he hasn’t got an O in it so far, but intends to for his actual OWLs
DADA - This is possibly the only class Scorpius throws himself into, relishing every challenge put in front of him. Its one of the few places he allows himself to be even slightly violent.
History of Magic - despite the interest he’s long had for ancestry and heritage, he finds the way HoM is taught to be a complete farce and would much rather be set free in the library to research the parts he actually found interesting, and not have a teacher bore him so much he felt like his brain was going to dribble out of his nostrils.
History:
Scorpius was born into a turbulent family - after the defeat of Voldemort, it wasn’t long before things grew fraught between Draco and his parents, and although he agreed to the marriage they’d arranged it was mainly to have an excuse to be distant from them. Astoria was just pleased to have married into such a good family and went along with Draco’s way of doing things. However, the real problems came when Scorpius was born. Counter to the norm, Draco was Scorpius’ primary care giver, and it was him that Scorpius first bonded with. What Draco had intended was to raise his son better than his parents had raised him, in an entirely different way, but when he saw the adoration young Scorpius had for him, he all but broke of contact with him - he didn’t want his son to worship him in the way he had once worshiped his father.
At nearly 2 years old, this was devastating for Scorpius. He developed a complex about it as he grew up, always striving for his fathers approval and never getting it. Draco still played a roll in making sure Scorpius was brought up well - instructing his tutors on what he should be taught and how - going entirely behind his wife’s back. Scorpius had had the Malfoy pride instilled in him since a very early age by his mother, and would perhaps have grown up to see himself as superior, in spite of his tutors, had it not been for one of the few things he ever learned from his father:
When Scorpius was 5, in a brief and unexpected moment of solidarity, Draco had sat him on his lap and told him that above all, he must be accepting, that there were people in the world who were amazing no matter if they were pureblood, half blood, muggleborn or even a muggle. And then he had said something cryptic about new worlds and the Berlin wall that Scorpius hadn’t understood, and never would. But that was one of so few times that his father had shown anything resembling kindness towards him, so Scorpius vowed to himself to follow his fathers teachings to the letter.
Only a week or so later, Scorpius was shipped off to boarding school. His mother had pitched a fit when she found out that he was going to be mingling with muggles for the rest of his time before Hogwarts, but Draco was apparently deaf to her screaming. After that, his relationship with his father dwindled to almost nothing, though Scorpius still strived to win his admiration whenever he could, and the lesson about tolerance had stuck fast.
However, at boarding school there was little need for that lesson. None of the boys there had heard of the Malfoys, and Scorpius was treated just the same as any of the other new students. The pride he had for his heritage landed him in trouble a few times - fights, arguments - which his mother overlooked and quite possibly felt pleased about, but he could tell his father disapproved. After the most severe one, a fist fight, and the sheer silence that he’d got from his father for so long after, he decided to steer away from violence, but his fierce love of his ancestry never dampened.
It was whilst at boarding school that he learned to fence. He’d long since realised he could do most of his subjects with ease - things like Latin, the sciences and logic - but years of being seen as no different from the rest of the heard had snuffed out any arrogance that might have formed, and aside from his name, he was fairly modest about his talents. Fencing was a challenge, something that didn’t come to him naturally and, as he saw it, mastering it might be another way he could win his fathers respect. Even though he’d renounced physical violence, Scorpius saw fencing as more of an art, something imbedded in history and tradition, and although he was a wizard and it was magic that made up his heritage, the ideals of acceptance that his father had embedded in him lead him to take an interest in his class mates as well.
Being a wizard among muggles, however, made Scorpius feel fairly adrift from the social scene. He didn’t have many real friends, and none of those were close - its difficult to become best friends with someone when you cant even tell them what you really are. As such, Scorpius took to enjoying his own company. Over the summers he spent a lot of time in the Owlery at home, and for his 8th birthday his father bought him his snowy owl, Mildred, with whom Scorpius formed an immediate attachment, not least because she’d been a gift from Draco. He spent a lot of time training her, but she always remained a perverse bird.
Going to Hogwarts was a bit of a shock to the system for Scorpius. Suddenly, his surname got him recognition, and he was constantly surrounded by people. This went ever so slightly to his head, and he spent a little while revelling in the respect he thought the Malfoy like afforded him. However, it didn’t take long for him to realise that he newfound friends did not nearly stick to the principles of tolerance that had by then been so firmly engrained in him. However, this was the first time in his life he’d been accepted by people - more than accepted, appreciated - so he continued to be friends with them. They accepted his eccentric ways - his clothing, the way he spent hours in the Owlery - because of his heritage. He found he was able to think up excuses for his behaviour; one of the main problems was the way he wasn’t anything like hostile to members of other houses, but that was easily explained - he wasn’t fraternising with the enemy, he was breaching their defences.
And so Scorpius muddled his way through the first 5 years of Hogwarts. He soon developed politician like skills of balancing - especially after realising his sexuality - using half truths and figures of speech to keep everyone happy whilst finding little comfort in the company of those he was keeping happy. Most of his joy was found in solitude and quiet contemplation, or spending time with Mildred, and he never once stopped trying to gain his fathers approval.

He is seen as slightly odd by his peers, but its accepted because of who is father is.
Positive Traits:
- Modest - Although it seems to be at odds with his primary fault, when it comes to anything not related to his heritage Scorpius tends to be modest. Unfortunately, this has come from years of not thinking he’s good enough, but it has produced a trait never before seen in a Malfoy.
- Deliberate - Scorpius tends to think things through, plan them and come out with measured responses to things other people might have dived straight into. He’s hardly ever rash, except when it comes to his father.
- Eloquent - due to the delicate balancing act of his life, Scorpius has had to learn to twist words the way he wants them to be, and do it with style. There’ve been a fair few times when smooth talking has saved his neck
- Tolerant - perhaps not a trait that came naturally to him, but acceptance of people from all walks of life was instilled in Scorpius at an early age after a brief moment with his father. Since then, he’s always been accepting, even though he finds ways to cover it up when needs be.
- Determined - a traditional Slytherin trait, Scorpius can be totally resolute when he sets his mind to it. However, he’s not willing to trample other people into the dust to get what he wants, its usually about pushing himself as hard as he can.
Negative Traits:
- Proud - specifically, proud of his name and its heritage. This is somewhat in conflict with a lot of his other traits and values, but its still a governing factor of who he is. Although he no longer resorts to physical violence, anyone who insults the Malfoy name will find themselves faced with an icy Scorpius and might find the social side of things a little more difficult than before
- Inattentive - Scorpius’ mind has a tendency to wander, and when he wishes he were a million miles away from where he actually is, his mind tends to take him there. This can cause problems if he’s in the middle of talking to someone, or in class, but he usually manages to get away with it.
- Self Deprecating - due to the rejection he feels he’s received over the years from his father, Scorpius often sees himself as worthless, especially when it comes to his father. As a Malfoy, he gets disgusted with himself got being such a failure and so self pitying, so often pushes these thoughts out of his head.
- Subservient - Having spent a so much of his time feeling shunned by the people around him, Scorpius aims to please. This is another trait that sometimes leads to inner turmoil, his pride fighting the urge to be so passive, but at other times they work together, like when it comes to doing things he think will please Draco.
- Distant - Not having any especially close friends has lead Scorpius to not only feel isolated, but often to isolate himself, be it on purpose or unconsciously. He half manages to cover it up, but very few people have ever had the sense that they know the real Scorpius.
Interests:
- People watching
- Ancestry and Heraldry
- The ornate
- Most of his subjects, although you’d never guess it
Likes:
- Dawn - Scorpius’ favourite time of day. He’s always been an early riser, never being able to sleep much, so always finds the peaceful tranquillity of a new morning comforting.
- Owls - After getting his own owl, Mildred, Scorpius developed an interest in owls in general, from identifying species to training them.
- Winter days - Aside from the fact it’s a brilliant excuse to wear his favourite clothes, there’s something beautiful about winter that Scorpius can’t quite put his finger on.
- History - Being a proud member of the Malfoy family, Scorpius has a profound taste for history and anything antique or ancestral.
- Quiet - Scorpius values the time he can get to himself, as he’s almost constantly surrounded by people
- Flying, but not Quidditch - Flight, Scorpius feels, is an expression of freedom, and he loves swooping through the air on a broom. Why anyone would want to curb that with rules and a pitch, he‘ll never understand
Dislikes:
- Boring teachers - Although Scorpius is good at his subjects, he often finds himself not doing as well as he should, partially because his teachers send him to sleep in their lessons.
- Hot weather - Scorpius hates being uncomfortable, physically or emotionally, and hot weather can lead to both.
- Huge crowds - Something else that makes him physically uncomfortable, although he’s mastered dealing with social situations - he’d just rather not do it.
- Intolerance - Having had his head filled with thoughts of acceptance since he was little, Scorpius can’t stand people who are narrow-minded about almost any issue
- Modern buildings - They’re just ugly, really
Patronus:
A Swan - probably caused by some unconscious Ugly Ducking complex. He might not be aware of it, but Scorpius’s fears tend to manifest themselves in all his dealings with magic, good or bad.
