There were so many lessons people learned in life and many of them were coming into play here. Don’t speak to strangers; check. Don’t try and be clever; check. Don’t allow people to play you; check. Don’t trust a vampire who beats up your sort-of boyfriend; check. How many of those was Amelia actually listening to right now? All of one. And that was only because she had seen the damage this guy could do, letting him anywhere near her wouldn’t be in her best interest. Or Connor’s. Who knew what this guy might do given the chance. Amelia had had to deal with a lot of big things in her short life time; and it didn’t look like it would be about to slow down any time soon.
Amelia was no stranger to male attention; she’d had boyfriends and crushes and crushees. But this was different, normally she felt comfortable having a flirt with a guy, whether she knew him or not, but right now her skin was crawling, she didn’t know whether it was his approach or the fact that Connor still had a slowly healing from the broken collarbone this vampire had given him, ”I fight it because I have to. You try fitting in around her greeting people by sniffing there arses, doesn’t get you very far,” she said, trying to keep her tone light. She didn’t need those in ear shot getting a whiff of what she had spent the last four years keeping hidden.
Amelia couldn’t help but let out a high pitched unbelieving laugh. She didn’t answer his comment right away, finishing eating the cream from the top of her drink, but not drinking any of the too hot liquid; ”You didn’t just injure him, though, did you. You beat him up, you drank his blood then left him. He’s still got a broken collarbone thanks you,” she knew as soon as she said it that revealing his weakness wouldn’t be in Connor’s best interest, but she needed to prove a point and within school grounds he was plenty safe, ”You know what I’m glad you’re a monster all of the time, it makes it ten times easier to hate you,” she bit out, pushing back on her stool and standing.
”Take it from me,” she said, leaning over her stool to get in his face, ”If you want a girl to trust you, don’t attack her boyfriend first,” one final confident surge passed through her, she picked up her drink, still hot from being freshly made by the bar tender, and upturned the glass over his head. On seeing the shocked look of the bar man, she smiled at him as brightly as she could, ”He looked like he could do with warming up,” she pulled her bag off of the bar and threw it over her shoulder, pulling her coat off the stool, and heading out of the pub as quickly as she could.

An uncomfortable silence once again fell across the pair as they eyed each other up, formulating thoughts and opinions. Dom liked the fire Amelia had, a reckless bravery that was becoming increasingly rare amongst people these days but maybe it was due to her wolf-habits that she was being so headstrong and stubborn.
Either way the vampire had decided he liked her but he did not like the fact that she was paired up with the male werewolf. Already conniving schemes to tear the two apart were forming in the blond’s mind. Why did he want to destroy a relationship? Because he could, you had to do something with your immortal life and making trouble when not seducing people was what Dom did with his.
”Now come on; even if you accepted what you were you still wouldn’t be sniffing peoples’ behinds. You’re a werewolf, not a dog, and your humanity still rules most of the time,” the boy snorted what he thought of Ame’s statement. Wow, she really hated what she was but, again, it was a feeling he knew all too well. Her tone may have been light but there was deep seated derision that even Dominic the reasonably unobservant couldn’t miss. And then she laughed, high pitched and clearly sceptical, at what the vampire had said.
He frowned at her words, seeing no way he could prove his innocence with a lie at the accusations. Now the boy was regretting breaking the other werewolf’s collarbone. ”I can’t excuse myself for doing that to your friend,” Dom said softly, again looking at Amelia earnestly, trying to convey how truly sorry he was (even though he wasn’t really). He had to fight to keep a satisfied smirk from crossing his face; Dom had guessed he’d broken one of the male’s bones and the collar bone was one that was incredibly painful. ”Ouch, hates a little callous don’t you think? I didn’t do anything to you,” the vampire retorted, suddenly angry. He was used to being hated by people but it was the use of the word ‘monster’ that made his ire rise.
When Amelia stood, the flaxen-haired vampire could only watch as she picked up her steaming mug of fresh hot chocolate and tipped it over his head. ”Jesus Christ what the fuck?” Dom swore, not at all liking the feeling of the liquid burning his scalp, though he did like the smell of it. Eyes closed the boy shook his head like a dog to get rid of as much beverage as he could, much to the displeasure of the bar staff and the people around him. When, at last, he deemed it was safe enough to open his eyes again Amelia was gone but Dom was smiling. The stunt with the hot chocolate had only made him more determined to win her over.
She would be a test but Dom loved challenges.
