the TV TROPES of SALVIO HEXIA
Ahh, TV Tropes. The Black Hole of the Internet. Get in and try to get out. I dare you.
Anyway, I was thusly trapped last night and decided hey, I wonder what ones apply to SH? Well, to my characters specifically. By which I mean Si. (Sorry everyone else.) And, hey, might as well post them up. There's probably a cheap lol or two to be gotten from it.
I did find one or two for other chars in SH in general, so I'm putting those up first. May expand them later.
Owing to the shocklingly massive number of tropes, there is no way in Hell I've got them all. I know there are some I've missed and I'm totally anal enough to edit them in as I find them later.
So here goes.
SALVIO HEXIA
Dating Do Si Do: Remember this?
Two Lines, No Waiting: Hex runs like this, owing to being an RP.
VIVIAN
Apologies A Lot: And I mean a lot.
DACIAN
Vampires Prefer Brunettes: Partially subverted. Dacian prefers brunettes, yet fell for a blonde.
SILAS
Above Good and Evil: Silas considers himself to be this.
A Darker Me: Possible. If I can pull this guy out of my head he must have come from somewhere. I worry sometimes.
Beard of Evil: ... and how.
Cluster F-Bomb Like every second post.
Complete Monster: Killing August may push him into this category. See ‘Moral Event Horizon’. He certainly has the potential to go here if not.
Dark is Evil: Averted. No Tiggs, he doesn’t live in a dark black mansion with gothic black furniture, despite your attempts to get me to do otherwise. His place is actually normal, just very obviously magical. His clothes don’t count either; business suits just naturally tend to be dark. Nor does Scores come off as particularly sinister.
Depraved Bisexual: He’s bi cause it just doesn’t bother him either way. If he acts straight it's only because he wants to kill or is irritated by like 95% of the guys here.
Evil Brit: Self explanatory.
Evil Is Cool: The whole reason I play this character.
Freudian Excuse: Partially subverted. While Silas’s family were definitely horrible enough to qualify for this, due to his mental condition he would have ended up an asshole anyway. See ‘In The Blood’.
Foreshadowing: Si had copies of horcrux books when Jac went his house. The fact he’s been working on something has been mentioned repeatedly, but what was never specified what until very recent threads.
Hollywood Sex: Mostly. Because it’s hard to keep a mood when RPing things more realistically.
Improbable Aiming Skills: I’m probably guilty of making Si have this, although the fact he’s been a marksman for 24 years (no thanks to being a wizard) possibly gives me some leeway.
In The Blood: His dad was a dark wizard, Mum was an alcoholic.
It’s All About Me: Pretty much how he sees everything.
Jerkass: He can turn it on and off at will, but generally plays it straight.
Kick The Dog: Torturing Seph, killing Dacian, probably shooting Ed too. There’s bound to be more.
Lack of Empathy: Silas breathes this trope.
Left Hanging: Just where did he get all those anti-vampire things from? And how did he find a copy of Secrets of the Darkest Art? And how did he find all those painkillers without a prescription? And what’s he going to do with August’s body? (‘Screw the Rules, I Have Money!’ may explain a few.)
Love It Or Hate It: Either you like this char, or you don’t. Contrast: Caity and Ehetere.
Love Potion: Interesting case in that it was both a) used on him and b) worked as planned.
Making Love In All The Wrong Places: Jac and Si seem prone to this one.
Male Gaze: Literary example, especially with Jac. I try to use it as often as possible but usually forget.
Meaningful Name: Accidental. Rosier is the demon of tainted love, and Jac just had to give him that love potion...
Monster Fun Facts:Mostly in narration, but Si’s also been doing a lot of explaining about vampires to Seph lately.
Moral Event Horizon: Killing August may just be this.
Properly Paranoid: The vampires are really out to get him.
Punny Name: Scores – both as a strip club and as a casino.
Psychotic Smirk: Silas had one of these moments when Dacian arrived at the Shrieking Shack. Possibly more examples, I forget.
Screw the Rules, I Have Money: He seems to be able to get a lot of supplies this way (weapons, blood etc).
Smug Snake: Plays this trope fairly straight. However, his failures tend to be more due to the fact a lot of the SH characters would be dead by now if we let him have his way.
Squishy Wizard: Subverted. Silas works out religiously. Not that it helps him against vampires any.
The Alcoholic: This. Just... This. That maintenance alcoholism took years of practice, you know.
What Is This Thing You Call Love?: Averted and played straight. He knows what love is intellectually, he just doesn’t get it, nor can be feel it. At least until the Love Potion...
Would Hit A Girl What can he say: he’s not sexist.
I miss any ones? Got some tropes you think suits your characters to a T? Postpostpost.
