So vampires weren’t able to do magic, no scratch that, they weren’t allowed to do magic. To Dom that seemed rather unfair; vampires were still people too, sort of. He huffed in disproval of that information, a dark look on his face. He hated to be reminded of that fact he was different, no longer human, and segregation was always one way of doing just that. ”I don’t think it’s very fair you can’t do magic anymore, and that you can’t attend any of the schools you just listed off at me,” he voiced quietly his opinion.
The flaxen haired vampire’s mood bounced back to its lighter tone as soon as he saw Vivian’s reaction to his compliment. The boy couldn’t help but laugh at it, giving the girl a warm smile. Regardless of his intentions, he liked this changeling more and more. ”Anytime,” he chuckled offhandedly. As it was revealed that Vivian worked in the pub they now sat in and that she had nowhere else to go an idea popped into Dom’s head.
”Hey, do you want to come for a walk with me? You said you had nowhere to go so let’s change that and I don’t really know Hogsmeade all that well so you can show me some of your favourite spots,” the older vampire suggested brightly. At once he was on her feet, asking for Vivian’s hand like a gentleman of olden days. ”Milady, come walk with me under the moon light,” Dom said in a mock posh voice with a mischievous glint in his eye and a bow to finish it all off.

It wasn’t fair really, he was dead right, but it wasn’t like she had a choice in the matter.
Dom seemed to mull over her last words and Vivian found herself paranoidly wondering if she’d just said something wrong. It would be just like her to, she really oughtn’t be surprised.
Hang on, wait, a walk? Vivian just stared for a few seconds wide eyed. Whoever this man was he really had a remarkable tendency to put people on the spot. The word she was looking for was “Ok,” but it took Vivian a moment of opening and closing her mouth before she finally managed to find it. The suddenness of it had taken her back, although the suggestion itself was not unwelcome.
Dom seemed to have her covered and leapt out his chair, doing the bizzarest thing and waiting for her hand. Vivian couldn’t help it and she laughed at his theatrics. “I vould love to,” she replied taking his hand and alighting from her seat, her attempt to imitate his tone failing spectacularly on the grounds that she couldn’t keep a straight face even if she tried.
“Everysings closed by now, but there’s this shop you have to see that sells the most amazing lollies for vampires. Haff you seen it already?”

”No I haven’t seen this lolly shop of yours, lead the way,” the older vampire said ecstatically, practically dragging Vivian to the door of the Hog’s Head. It wasn’t until the two were outside did he realise that the girl was supposed to be leading as he had no idea where they were going. The boy grinned sheepishly at her and let lead from then on. As the two wandered through the empty streets of the village they chatted more about vampirism, favourite past times (of course Dom ‘forgot’ to mention his favourite one), hunting and all sorts of other things.
Vivian explained what a bloodpop was which made the boy eager to try one as soon as possible and once she’d finished they were outside the lolly shop. It wasn’t all that exciting but still Dom couldn’t help but stare enviously at the barrel of chocolate displayed in one of the windows. Oh how he missed the stuff, it had once been his favourite food and now he couldn’t touch it. He’d tried it with blood once and had only succeeded in making himself sick.
The boy turned to the girl, a soft smile on his face. ”Thanks for this Viv, other vampires would probably have blown me off or attacked me or something but you didn’t. I’ve had a really nice time chatting and walking with you,” Dom breathed warmly, his face getting closer to the girl’s. Without stopping to think he planted his lips firmly on hers, under the impression that she had accepted his invitation so that the two of them could be alone for the romantic reasons.

Real mature. But then he was a vampire who clearly knew nothing about the magical world and you hadn’t lived until you’d had magical candy for vampires, okay? It was one of the few pleasures she had left and damn if she wasn’t going to share it.
The trip seemed shorter than it should be, or maybe that’s because neither of them would stop talking the whole way. Okay, because Dom wouldn’t stop talking the whole way. Vivian was just content to listen and interject occasionally with her own observations. Dom was really quite a chatterbox and some of his comments had some insight once you cleared away the attempts at humour.
Before long, Honeydukes came into sight and Vivian pointed at it as they walked. “Zhere it is! I sink they’ve come out with a new range of vampire gummies too. I sink they noticed I buy a lot of zheir stuff so they got some more. Before it was just zhe lollypops.”
“Thanks for this Viv, other vampires would probably have blown me off or attacked me or something but you didn’t,” Dom said appreciatively, and Vivian felt the telltale signs of going red again. It was just a lolly shop, but she was pleased all the same. Honestly, she’d like to say that he was wrong, but considering what she’d seen of other vampires, Dom was probably right on the money.
“Better zhan sitting at zhe Hog all night,” she responded then looked to the shop again at the massive mounds of chocolate. Dom wasn’t the only one lamenting forbidden foods now – curses.
She looked back again in time to see Dom’s face looming closer. Vivian’s eyes widened but she couldn’t back out of the way fast enough and before she knew it the man was trying to succeeding in kissing her on the mouth. Vivian gave a muffled shriek, grabbing his shoulders and mustering all the force she could to shove him away from her.

Dom was propelled backward and smacked into the corner of the next building. The ferocious growl that echoed through the empty street was certainly not Vivians, and a very angry Dacian advanced on the downed vampire. Picking him up by the shirtfront, he dragged him bodily into the gap between the buildings. The streets were deserted, but privacy was something Dacian generally preferred when he tore someone limb from limb.
The blond face had been hidden to begin with, being so cosy with Vivians. In the golden light from the street lamps Dacian could see clearly that this was the vampire youth from London. “You!” Dacian cocked a fist, and landed it squarely on Dominic’s nose with a satisfying crunch. He pinned the taller vampire to the stone wall of the building with ease to stop him slouching and leaned in to whisper harshly. “I warned you, Dominic Spencer. Remember what I promised if you set one foot in Hogsmeade?” The smile he gave was positively frightening.
Through the initial bloodlust, he’d been oblivious to Vivians protests. He glanced to her now, teeth still bared. “Did he hurt you?” He asked, the warm tone bizarre in this aggressive situation. His hands still balled in Dominic’s clothing, pinning him brutally against the wall. He was glad he’d caught Vivian’s scent. For once he was intruding on a situation that Vivian had obviously not consented to. She could hardly be angry with him this time; she had been rejecting Dominic even as he’d thrown him away from her.
After the events of earlier this evening, he needed a good outlet for his brewing anger. And that outlet had presented itself in the form of a cocky vampire adolescent who thought trying to force himself on a vulnerable changling was acceptable. Well Dacian had news for Dominic Spencer: nobody upset Vivian Nazarova.
At least nobody but him.
And that was never on purpose.
Well, not usually.

The feeling of Vivian pushing against him was not a good sign and the boy knew well enough to stop when a girl said no. He felt her supernatural strength in the shove and he opened his mouth to apologize as it happened but before he could say anything he was hurtling backwards at an alarming rate. Dom felt himself crash into the corner of a nearby building, the blow cracking several ribs and knocking the wind right out of him. The older vampire gasped for breath as he crumpled onto the ground. Through the dizziness he registered a growl that was most certainly not Vivian’s and that he was being picked up.
The boy cried out sharply as he was shoved bodily against a wall, pain rippling through his chest. He heard his attacker’s exclamation of recognition before he felt the familiar sensation of his nose being broken with a fist to the face. God-freaking-damn it, was this Viv’s angry boyfriend? That theory was quickly dispelled when whoever it was whispered in his ear, unless of course the girl had a thing for older men. ”Dacian?” Dom choked out through the blood dribbling down his face. Shit, shit, shit, shit, shit, he was going to need Willow after a miracle to survive this.
”Do id then, kill me. I didn’d mean any harm by whad I did, are you really going do kill someone for a misundersdanding?” the flaxen-haired vampire spat in between gasps for air. ”Your promises musd have slipped my mind Dacian bud the stories I heard aboud you haven’d. I heard you’re like a cockroach and thorn in these peoples’ sides. Murderer. How does id feel do be back in the place where you cocked up? Is daking oud your frusdrations on me really going do help? Asshole,” the boy gasped out in attempted defiance. What he’d said had made absolutely no sense, a factor he contributed to the ridiculous pain coming from his chest and face.

Dom had just been thrown into the wall and Vivian cringed in horror. That hadn’t been intentional! It took her a split second to realise that in all actuality she’d had nothing to do with it. Dacian had blasted out of nowhere to slam the man into the wall of the building. He was already brutally dragging the other vampire ought of sight while Vivian was still standing there in shocked horror with her mouth open.
It had all happened so fast!
Okay so Dom shouldn’t have done that to her but he didn’t deserve that did he? That was her fault for not saying she was taken first. But he never thought he would... Oh no. There was a noise like a fist hitting against flesh and yelling. That seemed to spur Vivian into action and she ran over into the alleyway before Dom found his intestines strewn all over the cobblestone.
“Dacian, stop!”
No one listened.
As usual.
Dacian was too growly to pay attention and Dom was halfway through shouting something. The boy’s nose was starting to ooze blood but it wasn’t pouring everywhere like normal humans would, which meant Vivian never guessed the full scope of his injuries, even if he was talking a bit strange. As far as she was concerned Dacian was just holding him against the wall.
“Did he hurt you?”
“Vot? No! It vos just... it vos just a misunderstanding!” she explained shrilly, glancing between Dom and Dacian frantically as though unsure what to do.

This ‘misunderstanding’ might be just that, but there was certainly no misunderstanding that had brought Dominic here. Dacian had warned him away, and the youth hadn’t listened. Dacian readied a hand and gave him a lazy backhand slap across the face that rocked the blonds head on his shoulders, enough force behind it as a warning that a full force one would not be so relatively gentle.
“That’s enough name-calling.” He growled, somewhat more pleasantly. He needed to keep a check on his temper while Vivian was here. The temptation to keep hitting the vampire until he was completely nonsensical was overwhelming, but his New Year’s resolution was not to scare Vivian so much.
The boy was making sounds, possibly a collection of words that might even form sentences when he was coherent. What Dacian did pick up from the ramblings what that somebody was telling tales. This brought the anger trickling back, and he pushed him more tightly against the wall. Dominic must have been talking to one of two people: Edward, or Silas. His money was on Edward. The bartender was the jealous sort, and more likely to gripe about his problems than Silas. ‘Murderer’ but have been one of the mortal’s exaggerations – he hadn’t killed anyone lately. And who else knew about his little hiccup last month? Yes, Dacian was fairly sure Edward was behind the perceptions in this boy’s mind.
Dacian shifted his grip on the younger vampire, holding him against the wall with one palm and grabbing the boy’s jaw with his other, forcing him to face him. “You need to learn to remember the threats I make, they’re not idle.” A quick glance to Vivian reminded him that perhaps he shouldn’t repeat the threat right now. “What are you doing here?” He asked instead, fingers digging into the boy’s jaw. Truthfully Dacian was unlikely to kill the boy for the ‘misunderstanding’ with Vivian, however much he might like to. Vivian would certainly disapprove, and the old vampire was trying to keep in good standing with her. It was Dominic’s lucky night.

Dom didn’t know what was scarier; being punched in the face or the suddenly almost pleasant tone to Dacian’s voice. The slap to the boy’s face stung but he knew through his delirium that it could have been a lot harder. From side to side the younger vampire’s head rolled, making him feel almost sick. He still gasped for air, feeling uncomfortable without it in his lungs. Every shuddering breath made Dom’s chest hurt even more; his ribs were most definitely broken. ”Misundersdanding, dhad’s all id was,” he repeated Vivian’s words softly, spitting the blood out of his mouth but being careful not to spit it at Dacian.
”I’ll be sure do dry and remember thad this dime bud I can’d give you any guarandees. You mighd have do remind me; whad were dose threads again?” the boy replied deviously in yet another move that was not all together smart. Dominic gasped sharply as the older vampire’s fingers dug harshly into his neck. The more he tried to pull out of the iron grip the tighter it got. It took the blond a moment to realise that he was feeling rather lightheaded. ”I came do see the sighds of course, I’m nadurally curious aboud dese things you know. Mr. Rosier says hi by the way,” the boy spluttered out in between bouts of fading consciousness.

The boy was almost pathetic enough to release, but with Vivian nearby, he was not taking chances. He might be able to snap Dominic like a twig, but Dominic was old enough to do the same to Vivian.
Dacian raised a brow at the blatant goading, choosing not to repeat the threats. Carrying them out was at the forefront of his mind, but he didn’t even have a knife to hand, let alone a bottle of holy water. He kept the boy pinned, and bored a hole in his head with his stare. The boy was trying to tempt him into continuing the beating, and while usually Dacian would comply, he was glad he had not when the boy was lucid enough to mention a certain name.
That earned him another solid punch to the head, followed by a violent shaking of the torso so that his head hit the wall none too gently. The obvious conclusion to come to was that Dominic worked for Silas, and somehow to wizard had discovered he was alive. Teeth bared, spitting and snarling, the older vampire took the younger by the throat and hit his head against the wall again for good measure. It was perhaps too much violence to perform in front of Vivian but special circumstances permitted breaking his resolution.
“What does he know?” He hissed, easing off enough on his stranglehold to allow the vampire to speak. Before he dragged Vivian to the depths of Europe, he was going to eek whatever information this weedling had on Rosier, then rip him into little pieces.
