“Silas?” asked Sephora, her mortification at Dom knowing about Scores muted by her sudden interest as to why her boss had been mentioned. “What do you mean by a run in?” Why was she sounding mildly protective here? The guy had given her some serious sunburn! All the same, he had obviously realised his mistake and helped rectify it.
Why would Dom have had a ‘run in’ with him? If he was a vampire hunter, shouldn’t Silas have welcomed him in with open arms? Actually - maybe Silas had put him up to hunting her down, although that really didn’t make any sense in her own mind. She hadn’t been that bad at work to warrant an execution. So what was going on here?
Maybe Silas didn’t like the extra competition in the area - but again the pieces didn’t quite fit together as he wasn’t actually a vampire hunter as far as she could gather. If he was he was a pretty poor one for letting her wander around the place, and hiring her too, so that didn’t work. Maybe she was reading far too much into it, after all she had no concrete evidence so far to prove that Dom even had overly malicious intentions. He could have simply been trying to get into the club and maybe Silas had though he was underage. Not that Sephora actually thought that Silas minded about under age patrons. Hmm.
It was like he could read her mind with the wine, not that she was complaining at all. Especially if he was paying. She slid delicately off the barstool and landed lightly, loosing quite a bit of height. Confident that this wouldn’t deter Dom, she smiled up at him with a glint in her eye. “Lead the way.” With any luck he wouldn’t know what hit him.

Not quite paying attention and with other things on his mind, Dominic missed Seph say Silas’ name. He was far too eager eyeing the bartender as he fished out a bottle of the wine the girl had been drinking. ”Hrmm? Oh yes, Silas you know him? I guess you would, is he your boss? To me he seemed to think he was pretty important, an attitude only someone in charge would have,” Dom mused for a moment, hand outstretched to receive the bottle of alcohol.
”My run in with him wasn’t overly exciting, I just don’t get along with other men at times. There was no violence from either of us if that’s where your train of thought was headed,” the boy shrugged, giving Seph a small grin. The man who he presumed was either the owner or manager of Scores was a mortal that made the young vampire edgy and was not someone he wanted to have to deal with again. Although he liked the strip clubs Scores was one that would unfortunately be avoided.
He nodded eagerly when Sephora told him to lead the way. Instantly, almost supernaturally fast, he was heading toward the door with the bottle of wine tucked safely under his arm. There was a smug grin plastered on his face that, if one had known what he was, one would have called predatory but to most it was the smile that told of a young man who was under the impression he was about to get lucky.
Eventually the pair came to his front door. ”Well this is it, it’s not much but it’s home for now,” the boy said softly, beckoning her inside. Through the rather small entrance hall Dom led the girl to the pathetic excuse for a lounge room. ”Make yourself at home, I’m not really here much so it’s a little dusty,” the young vampire placed the bottle of wine on a musty coffee table and, for a moment, stood watching the half-vampire.
Growing slightly impatient, Dominic moved to her and gently placed a cool hand on Seph’s cheek, soon moving it to the nape of her neck. Without a moment’s hesitation the boy brought her face to his and placed his lips on onto hers.

Sephora could only raise her eyebrows at his talk about his meeting with Silas - she would actually ask her boss about him when she got to work. Urgh. She hated using the word boss, since she liked to think that she controlled everything in her own life.
Still, she shrugged it off pretty quickly when Dom began to move off - rather quickly she thought to herself, but she supposed he was either eager to attempt to kill her or try and get lucky. He was going to fail miserably at both - and both were likely going to result in quite a bit of memory loss for him.
The smile he threw back to her as he walked out had her leaning towards the latter of her conclusions, which only relaxed her guard further - what was some young boy going to be able to do to her? And he had the wine, so she was pretty much going to follow him until he put that down, or she had an opportunity to take it off him. It would make a nice after dinner snack.
After trudging halfway across Hogsmeade, Dom introduced his ‘humble home’ and even Sephora had to admit it was less than she had expected. As far as accommodation went, the Three Broomsticks was less than satisfactory for her, but this was well… just underwhelming. The lounge room even more so, but before she could even make one disparaging comment or sarcastic remark, Dom had dropped the bottle of wine and had moved towards her.
He stroked her cheek, and maybe it was all the wine she had drunk so far but she didn’t slap it away as she normally would have done in another situation. Just before his lips met hers, there was a moment when she caught a breath of his scent that confused her and almost jogged her memory. She knew that smell.
But she was again distracted by his insistend kiss, and she found herself kissing back. Why was she doing that? More to the point, why did she find that funny? For a second it ossurred to her that she may have had far too much to drink already tonight and she wasn’t behaving like her usual self, but this thought was soon crushed by the reckless desire to do something that she would likely regret later. And that was when her tongue brushed something rather unpleasant… fangs.
The reaction that this brought forward in Sephora was instantaneous as a having a cold bucket of water dumped over her head. The pieces of the puzzle that had been confusing her all evening fell into place and the fuzz that had been clouding her mind cleared like fog in the sunlight. She saw everything in alarmingly bright quality. Any good feeling or feelings of recklessness that had been pulsing through her body evaporated; replaced with terror, and something that Sephora knew well as a mixture of rage and the self preservation instinct that had burned within her so strongly since she had become a half-vampire.
She lashed out, pushing with her arms and throwing in a particualry vicious kick for good measure. She had no idea if they had hit or had any effect whatsoever. She darted back, narrowly avoiding a collision with the table while she frantically looked around for an escape route. Her panic had disorientated her though, and she was now further away from the front door and her current only known point to escape this prison. She glanced fearfully at Dom, suddenly no longer viewing him as a harmless little boy. Instead she saw bloodthirsty, cold-blooded killer. Perhaps a little hypocritical of her, but why else would he have lured her to his house if not to kill her?

The slap away he’d half expected never came; instead Sephora kissed him back of all things. Dom fully relaxed; relieved that it looked like tonight he’d be spending the night with an exceptionally pretty girl. Again he found himself wondering what half-vampires were like between the sheets. Did they have the stamina of a vampire, human or, as he suspected, somewhere in-between?
Sighing in pleasure, the boy kissed the girl almost demandingly, his tongue flicking over sharp canine teeth. So she did have fangs. He leant against her, planning his next move but before he even had a chance to carry it out the situation went south and quickly. Seph broke off the kiss and Dom felt her push him away with supernatural force. Before he could get himself out the way her kick landed disturbingly close to his groin area.
”Whoa, whoa! Wait, please!” the flaxen haired vampire called after Seph. Unnaturally fast, Dominic blocked the way out, a pleading look on his face. The fear on her face made him look away in disgust. He was used to humans giving him that look when they learned the truth, but to receive a look of pure terror from one who was almost his kin was strange. ”Please, I’m not going to hurt you. Calm down,” the boy insisted, holding his hands up automatically. Damn, and things had been going so well too. ”Why are you so afraid of me? It’s not like you’re any different.”

Sephora’s panic increased as the doorway was blocked by the vampire. Windows, she needed windows. Fortunately she was small enough to squeeze through most spaces, but before she could actually locate another way out, she was distracted by Dom’s pleas. Bullshit he wasn’t going to hurt her - if he didn’t want that then why didn’t he just let her go.
“You’re a vampire - people are supposed to be afraid of you. Anyone who’s not has something seriously wrong with them,” retorted Sephora, ignoring that she was half way to where he was. Besides, she was still technically alive, while he was dead. In her mind, alive and dead were two very different things.
She half turned her body so she could still keep an eye on him in her peripheral vision while frantically searching for a window once more. Even when she spotted one she could fit through she knew it was a lost cause. He was a full vampire, and would get to her before she reached it. She still was wondering what game he was playing at - because although he was claiming that he wasn’t going to hurt her, she didn’t believe that in a second.
Perhaps he was playing with her. She knew from personal experience that life was too boring without playing with your food once in a while. Still, she had hoped never to be the play-thing of some potentially murderous vampire.
“What are you doing?” she demanded, finally deciding that she needed questions answered before her head exploded from the pressure of them whizzing around. She wanted him away from the door so she could dodge around him and out to safety. That would mean luring him away from the door frame. “If you’re going to kill me then stop mucking around.”
She took a step toward him and then balked to the side - seeing if he was following her movement. She wasn’t going to be calm anytime soon, so his far more sensible and reasonable words were effectively falling on deaf ears.

“You’re a vampire - people are supposed to be afraid of you. Anyone who’s not has something seriously wrong with them,” Well that had stung more than the kick to the groin area. Dom stood for a moment with nothing to say back to what Seph had said. He was a vampire and people were afraid of him –two things he hated to be reminded of in any situation. Filled with self-loathing he watched the girl look for an escape, his shock addled brain not registering that he was still standing in the door way. Things had been going so well and now he was stuck with a pissed off half-vampire and with himself in a foul mood.
”What am I doing, what are you doing? Jesus I’m not going to kill you, do I look like a killer to you? What could I possibly have to gain from killing you?” Dom flailed at Sephora, practically shouting exasperatedly his questions at her. Killing wasn’t something he participated in or had ever done so. Even in his changeling days he had refrained from killing anyone. ”All I wanted to do with you, well wasn’t it obvious?.” Instinctively the vampire followed the girl’s move not realising that if he moved he’d probably make the whole situation worse.
”Stop for a moment and listen to me! I do not want to kill you!” he shouted at her frantically, trying to get her to stop looking like a trapped animal and more like a human, or half-vampire. Dom reached out and grabbed one of her arms in his supernaturally strong grip in a desperate attempt to get her to calm down. Potentially a big mistake.

She could feel his eyes following her movements, which only increased her panic, and inability to actually focus properly or create coherent thoughts. “What am I doing, what are you doing? Jesus I’m not going to kill you, do I look like a killer to you? What could I possibly have to gain from killing you?”
“I’ve been told about you full vampires!” retorted Sephora hysterically, beginning to lose her usual neat appearance to something far more frantic and distraught, “A… reliable source informed me that my kind weren’t welcome among you. Apparently I’m a liability or something.” Or had he said that they were jealous of her ability to act more human? She honestly couldn’t remember.
“I don’t know how your vampire societies work - since I’ve been trying to avoid situations like this. You’ll probably get some credit from killing me off or something.”
This made little sense to Sephora, but in her current state she was hardly about to stop and think about her words before they burst from her mouth.
A look of contempt crossed her face when he tried to preach his so called ‘intentions’ to her. She knew well enough that the easiest way to get a meal was to have them come to you willingly, and seducing them seemed the easiest way. He must have some sort of weird vampire hypnosis that had been compelling her to come on to him or something. Since surely she never would have done that by her own free will. Surely.
His shouting made her flinch, and she was already so worked up that a ringing in her ears had started up. Instinctively she barred her teeth as he darted forward to stop her panicked movements, but the moment he grabbed hold of her hand, Sephora totally flipped.
She brought her leg down as hard as possible on one of his feet, and tried to jerk her knee up towards his groin. That always dropped guys pretty quickly. His grip loosened enough for her to wrench her arm free and wasting no time she bolted for the door. Sephora’s only thought at this stage was to get somewhere safe and vampire free. As fast as physically possible.

”Us full vampires? They’re not all alike and I’m the least vampire-like vampire around, I swear to you Seph,” Dom tried again, his voice increasingly desperate. He knew full well that his intended plans for this night were gone with no way to salvage them. Really, not even his mind would be on sex after confronting someone he thought would kill him; though there was that time after Dacian with Willow. Okay so he wasn’t the best example there.
A reliable source? Who had told her that half-vampires weren’t appreciated among the full vamps? ”I’ve never heard that before, Seph that’s ridiculous.” A liability, that just sounded silly and wrong to Dom’s ears though he didn’t really know what the wider vampire community thought of half-vampires. He wasn’t exactly in with his own kind; he was a rogue and wanted to stay one. The more he avoided his kin the more he avoided taking on their characteristics and acknowledging he was one of them. ”Are you serious? Credit for kill-“
Before he could finish the boy realized his mistake in grabbing onto Seph’s arm. Before he knew it a crushing pain tore through his body, radiating from his foot. The flaxen-haired vampire gritted his teeth in agony as he felt the bones in his foot shatter from the sheer force the girl had pushed upon it. Even as his grip loosened he watched as a knee came dangerously close, for the second time that night, to his groin. At the last split second he dodged, the attack instead landing in his lower abdomen which still hurt like a bitch.
Doubled over in pain, Dom didn’t even acknowledge Seph fleeing. His foot burned and the hit to his stomach had left him winded and feeling dizzy. How was he going to feed to heal? The young vampire could hardly walk, let alone hunt, with a shattered foot. Damn it, seducing was such a dangerous business but this little set back didn’t mean he wouldn’t try again, just maybe not with Sephora.
