Height: 5’7”
Build: Curvy
Wand: Cedar with Dragonheartstring. 9 ½ inches.
Very strong and steady, although somewhat hard and inert. This wand is good mainly in the aspects of magic that involve the material structure of objects (eg. Transfiguration), though it lacks precisness a little. Aside from this, it is a very powerful protective wand; doing well in both attack and defense. Not suitable for dark practices.
Patronus: Snow leopard. She uses the memory of Saeros asking to marry her to summon it.
Boggart: Saeros having an affair with another woman and leaving her. And then being confronted by their children.
Dementor: Suffocating and not being able to breathe
Amortentia: That 'new book' smell, the smell of fresh mountain air, something that closely resembles the musky smell of a dog combined with coffe beans
Nicknames: Amy
Clothing Style: Amanda likes to wear earthy or dark tones, and likes wearing professional or business-like clothing even though she works from home. She also has a vintage clothing fetish, and rarely wears dresses.

Amy had a pleasant upbringing as a child, being the eldest daughter in a two child family. Her parents owned a nice house in the countryside, way up in the remote mountains. Her passion for writing was fuelled by her mother always reading her bedtime stories each night, and her wild imagination. She was writing stories as soon as she could string sentences together (not they were all that good), but by the time she attended her ‘wizarding education’ it was clear that she had a talent for writing.
She passed quietly through school, making a few friends here and there and passing easily. She wasn’t really exceptional at anything, but was bright to say the least. However, when she left school, she didn’t do anything with her good grades really. She joined up as an editor at the Daily Prophet, and hated her job. Her real passion was mystery writing; thrilling tales of ferocious creatures and heroic aurors and so on. Not some boring dribble about how some stranger fell off his flying bike and was now suing the company.
One day her lucky break came when a publisher came to the office. Somehow, she managed to get a coffee break with him and convinced him to take a look at her manuscripts. Within a month she had quit her job at the Daily Prophet and had a publishing contract. After her first book was published however, the magical public did not take to it as Amanda had hoped they would. There was a cult following, but it was no where near as popular as she would have hoped. It was during looking for new and fresh inspiration for her second book that she met Saeros.
She had had to sweet talk her way into the office, but thanks to her connections she finally managed it. When Saeros was sent to talk to her; she was enchanted right from the word go. It was just like one of her heroic characters had stepped out of her books. She convinced him to go out on a date with her, to dancing lessons (which she later used as a scene in her books as a special tribute).
Amanda’s life was exceptionally happy over the next three years. She had the perfect boyfriend, in her eyes, and was so inspired that she finished her second and third books in record time. During a Christmas celebratory party, too much wine coupled with rum and raisin pudding resulted in a rather heated exchange between Amanda and her young editor. He was charming and fairly good looking as men went, which resulted in some behaviours that Amanda immediately regretted.
Saeros in typical Saeros fashion went and promptly punched the editor in the face when he found out, and had Amanda not been able to talk him out of it, the editor would have likely filed a law suit against him. Amanda then fired him; seeing it as the only appropriate thing to do in that situation to save her relationship.
Finding another editor had been difficult however, especially a good one, and then stressed with deadlines to fill, Amanda’s blood pressure and workload shot through the roof. Saeros took her away for a weekend that ended with him proposing to her. Overjoyed with a morale boost, Amanda got everything done in time… and then Saeros landed himself in St. Mungos a week later, which only earned him a roll of the eyes from Amanda (along with numerous boxes of chocolates and flowers).
After moving in, many arguments ensued. Typical domestic problems; Saeros left his dirty socks and shoes out again, Amanda was taking too long in the bathroom, Saeros wanted the TV… the list went on. Even after they settled these disputes, arguments about the wedding continued, and the date was postponed time and time again. Even when the big day finally arrived, it poured down just as the ceremony concluded; leaving guests running for cover.
The honeymoon was short; too short for Amanda’s liking, but Saeros’s superiors weren’t going to budge on his time off. When they returned home their lives settled down pretty much for ten years. Amanda wrote; Saeros beat up the bad guys. But the constant thorn in the relatively happy couple’s side is Amanda’s reservations about having children. She won’t say it to Saeros; but she simply doesn’t want them around because she feels that they will ruin any chance she has of becoming an internationally acclaimed author. It would, after all, be her who was at home looking after them. It would be her who would have to put up with them when they threw tantrums and other undesirable childish behaviours. But she knows exactly how much Saeros wants them, so her mind is divided. [/ul]
the inner workings
Dislikes: Mess, writer's block, decaffinated coffee, dirty feet, people making a mess just after she's cleaned up, cheap alcohol, misbehaving / spoilt children
Quirks and Habits: Has a habit of chewing something when deep in thought: whether it be a quill or a pen or some other random object, she taps her foot when she's impatient, she also likes to tap her foot when she cant think of something and its on the tip of her toungue but she can't remember it,
Mirror of Erised: Being an internationally reckognised author and having a daughter
In Depth Personality:
- Adventurous: Amy likes exploring and wandering the countryside. It's very peaceful. Amy also likes trying new things and experiences.
- Affectionate / Loving: Especially to her hubby; and is definately the 'romanitc' type.
- Ambitious: She would one day like to be a well known authour, and believes that one day with perserverance she will get there eventually.
- Eloquent: She's an author; did you expect anything less? Amy knows what she's doing when it comes to words.
- Honest: This can be a good or bad thing depending on her mood and her views of you. If she has taken a particular dislike to you, she can be brutally honest; boardering on cruel and insensitive. However, on most occasions she will tell the truth. This does not mean that she will not tell only half the truth if nessisary to protect someone's feelings.
- Imaginative: Being an author and all, this is kind of a given. Amy has an over-active imagination that is always viewing situations as possible plot angels and automatically hams them up and dramatizes them far beyond what is actually happening.
- Intelligent: Quietly intelligent would be a better word. Amy's intelligence lies mainly in English related topics and literature, since she is far less gifted when it comes to the more 'practical' aspects of life
- Observant: Since Amy gets a lot of her inspiration for writing from real life; she notices the little things that others just don't
- Opintionated: If Amy has something she wants to say; she will say it. However, this is usually among friends and close acquaintances, since she is far more reserved among strangers. She will often express her opinions through her writing
- Pensive / Thoughtful: Amy views the world differently to many people; like its all one whuge plot just waiting to be discovered. She sometimes drops into one of her 'writing moods' where she thinks of people as characters and their reasons behind doing things. When she gets like this it conversation stops immediately and you may not be able to properly talk to her for hours afterword, depending on how inspired she was at the time. This is when she can attatch herself to her laptop for hours on end and not come up for air (thanks to Hubby Saeros for introducing her to this piece of technology).
- Persevering / Persistent: Amy will always work until something is finished. If she didn't she'd never get her books done, would she?
- Picky / Prescise: Amy tends to be very particular about things, and is rarely fully satisfied
- Stubborn: She doesn't like to do things she doesn't want to and won't back down without a good argument first
