♥ ♥ l e v i. there's always some reason to feel not good enough and it's hard at the end of the day. Amidst the couples that were busy holding hands and staring into each others’ eyes from across the table sat a single lone boy, positioned comfortably in one of the cushioned chairs. He was leaning over the frilly pink tablecloth that protected the wood beneath and busily working away on what appeared to be, and was, a drawing. An aqua coloured pencil was held softly in his grip, and after scribbling away on the paper the child exchanged it for another – a purple one this time. He set to work again, and then after finishing a certain part paused to look it over. Bright blue eyes observed his work, and then they flicked up to compare the drawing to his subject.
The nearby chair was simply an ordinary object, but Levi found it intriguing with the black cloak and striped scarf lying atop it. The folds cast interesting shadows that the youth couldn’t help but want to try to capture, as dull as one might deem them to be. In all honesty, he could really care less about what others thought of his art; he drew for himself, and he never let anyone see his sketchbook, anyway.
Satisfied, the student bent back over his creation and continued working on it, alternating between blue, pink, and purple pencils. He never used any colors save for these and occasionally black; Levi found his art more interesting this way. His hand continued to drift up and down and across the page, until something floated lazily overhead and interrupted his thought process. A handful of cotton-candy-coloured confetti came raining upon his table, and Levi glanced up to see an annoying gold cherub grinning down at him. That was one thing about his place that he disliked; the stupid things with their pointless confetti. It did nothing but bother him.
Ignoring it, Levi looked back down and simply dusted the bits of plastic off of his sketchbook. He actually liked Madam Puddifoot’s, as weird as that sounded, but he wished they would get rid of the cherubs. He came here due to its quietness, its comfortable atmosphere, and the quality of the tea, but the decorations irked him every now and then. The little shop would be so much better off if it got a new decoration crew to come in and fix it up.

Hazel paused briefly as she stepped foot into Madam Pudifoot’s. The last time she had been here, she’d been a rather disastrous blind date a friend had set her up on. She had steered clear of the area since then, but she had been in the mood for the tea this particular day. She waited up at the counter until someone cam to take her order and quickly ordered her drink. She smoothed out her pink top, while she waited for her drink to be ready.
She let her eyes scan around the area for an open seat. There was so much romance in here; it almost made her feel a bit queasy. She saw a student sitting alone and after a moments thought, ventured over. She was fairly certain she recognized the student from school, maybe even the common room. Hopefully the boy wouldn’t mind some company.
“Hi,” She greeted warmly. “Would you mind if I sat here?” She really hated sitting by herself, and the building was rather crowded with couples making goo-goo eyes at each other. She noticed he had a sketch book and seemed to be quite intent on whatever he was drawing. Hazel attempted to draw from time to time, but she was not very good at it. “How long have you been drawing?” She asked curiously.

♥ ♥ l e v i. there's always some reason to feel not good enough and it's hard at the end of the day. Another person strolled into the tea shop in a moment, but Levi hardly noticed. He simply continued scribbling and shading and glancing at the chair every now and then, slowly helping the drawing on its way to completion. He knew that it wouldn't be his best work of art, mostly due to the lack of a thrilling subject, but it was simply practice. He would never get anywhere on his way to mastery if he neglected to draw solely because he didn't have something amazing to draw. If he wanted to get good, Levi would have to learn how to draw everything, including capes on chairs.
Pausing once again, the Hufflepuff smiled to himself. He thought it was turning out alright -- no where near perfect, but acceptable. Picking up his pink coloured pencil, the boy was about to continue when he heard a voice and noticed someone standing in front of his table. “Hi, Would you mind if I sat here?”
Blue eyes lifted and met with the girl's, wide and almost afraid. He recognized her from the common room, and although he couldn't quite place a name to her face, he did know that she was older than him. Why is she talking to me? Levi blinked, smiling in a rather embarrassed manner and shaking his head to the side a bit. I don't even know her...I..why..
Attempting to collect himself, the boy pulled his sketchbook to his chest to prevent her from seeing it and said softly, "I, uh, no - you can sit here, it's fine." He watched her for a moment, unsure of what to say or do, and then was saved by her question about his art. Levi had never been particularly skilled at starting (or continuing) conversations. "And um, well, about...half an hour today, or like..since I was about eight..if that's what you meant." Of course, he felt ridiculous as soon as he'd spoken.

Hazel realized perhaps she had just encountered a rather skittish Hufflepuff. Sometimes she thought maybe she had been put in the wrong house. It seemed like several Hufflepuff’s she had met in the past were a little shy and she was so gregarious, it seemed like she had been mis-sorted. She wasn’t sure where else she would belong though; maybe she was placed in Hufflepuff for lack of a more suitable place. She was pretty sure the boy was a year or two younger than she was. She watched as he pulled the sketchbook to him.
"I, uh, no - you can sit here, its fine.”
“Thanks.” Hazel smiled and sat down across from the boy. She took a long sip of her tea before glancing around the room. It was always so busy in here, and it always felt awkward to be sitting alone, surrounding by couples or sometimes even just groups of friends. If she came here alone she always looked for others sitting alone, she enjoyed meeting new people. She glanced back at the boy when he answered her second question.
"And um, well, about...half an hour today, or like..since I was about eight..if that's what you meant."
“Oh, well I had meant both.” She said with a smile. “Do you have a favorite style to work in?” She asked curiously. One of her brothers had been quite taken with art, and taught her some about it. “I’m Hazel by the way.” she introduced herself, “Your in Hufflepuff too aren’t you?”

♥ ♥ l e v i. there's always some reason to feel not good enough and it's hard at the end of the day. The girl sat down and sipped her tea, soon after continuing on to speak. Her tones and demeanor were definitely friendly, and Levi allowed himself to relax a bit. She seemed like she might be easier to talk to than a few of the people who had decided to encounter the fifth year recently -- the majority of them had ended up just standing there awkwardly while Levi stared at the ground and felt like an idiot. He could never think of what to say, and when he did try to start a conversation they were always random and strange.
He liked it when the other person did most of the talking and he just had to sit there and listen. It was much less stressful.
Watching her carefully, Levi listened and even smiled a bit when her lips curved upward. She had meant both? The boy secretly doubted that, but nevertheless he accepted her words with a silent thanks. He liked how she didn't make him feel uncomfortable or stupid; it seriously helped. "Yeah," he responded softly, eyes sliding to the pencils still resting atop the table, "I like coloured pencils." There was a short pause as she asked about his house, and he nodded a response, returning his gaze to her. "I'm Levi. Um, nice to meet you." His smile twitched upward.

Hazel was very good at very few things in life, but making people feel welcome was one that she could consider herself to be very good at. She could easily lead a conversation and draw people into her conversations. Just a perk of growing up surrounded by other kids she supposed. She propped her feet up on the spare chair that was angled in her direction. She might as well make herself comfortable. She looked at the boy over the rim of her cup.
"I like coloured pencils."
Hazel smiled before nodding. “That’s cool; I’m always totally envious of those who draw. I’ve got the artistic ability Merlin gave a toad.” She said with a grin. She took a sip of tea. She could stay inside the lines of a coloring book, but she had always been more athletically inclined that artistically. She did enjoy building things, if that counted.
"I'm Levi. Um, nice to meet you."
“Good to meet you Levi.” Hazel said with a grin. She liked to know the people in her house the best she could. She glanced around the building, averting her eyes quickly as they strayed across a couple full on making out. They were in public for Merlin’s sake. “So,” She began turning back to Levi. “Are you enjoying you year?” Hazel questioned. She realized how odd that question sounded before quickly trying to clarify. “Sorry, I meant are you having a good year so far?”

At her comment, Levi released a soft laugh. He wanted to tell her that he was sure that she could draw if she'd only try or that all it took was practice, but he remained silent anyways. He figured those comments would be better left unsaid.
Blue eyes watched her sip her tea for a moment, and the young male realized that he hadn't yet ordered his own tea; he'd been too caught up in his sketching. He glanced up at the counter, considering excusing himself for a moment to go fetch a drink, but her words erased that idea for the time being. The girl had asked him if he was enjoying the year so far, and so it seemed he had more conversing to do at the moment. "Um, yeah, it's been...good," he said softly, though that was only halfway true, "How..how has yours been?
Levi had lately found himself much more confused than normal. It appeared he was falling for one of his friends -- a male friend, to be exact. The young Hufflepuff was unsure and stressed about the feelings he'd suddenly started experiencing when he was around Rhys, and he was more than just a little worried about his sexuality. He didn't want to like boys.

This was a rather one sided conversation, but that was ok. Hazel could work with what little he gave her. She really couldn’t draw, she had tried, Merlin had she tried, but she just never developed any sort of knack for it. Unless one counted finger painting, she had been a good finger painter according to her mum at least. She shifted some to make herself a bit more comfortable in the chair. She noticed the boy didn’t have a drink and was about to ask him if he wanted something when he answered the question she had posed to him earlier.
"Um, yeah, it's been...good,”
She doubted he was being particularly sincere in that. She wasn’t one to push, especially with those she did not know, so she decided to let it slide. Hopefully whatever it was that made his answer so not completely true would work itself out, or he would find someone to confide in. She quickly tuned back in when he spoke again. "How..how has yours been?”
“Mine’s been just fine thanks.” Besides a few rather uncomfortable encounters this year, Hazel would say it had gone more smoothly than the last few. She considered her Hogwarts experience her learning years. Fourth year it was when she realized she was Bi, Fifth year when she had her first girlfriend, and sixth year, to deal with people with less than pleasant dispositions.
“Are you going to get some tea?” She asked, her curiosity getting the better of her. Hopefully the boy wouldn’t find her questioning rude; she just couldn’t stand to sit in silence.

Nodding a bit, the boy forced himself to actually say something, desperately attempting to give more to their conversation. "That's good." It was all he could really think of and get out, and after those two simple words his voice faded. He thought about asking what classes she was taking or if she liked her teachers, but he rejected those ideas as stupid. He didn't want her to think that he talked about school too much or anything.
“Are you going to get some tea?”
Saved, again. Nodding, Levi was silently thankful that she'd asked and quickly stood, nearly knocking his chair down and having to quickly grab it as it tipped. "Heh heh.." Laughing in an obviously embarrassed manner, though it was intended to be casual, the boy turned and hurriedly shuffled to the counter. A blush was staining his cheeks and he felt very much like an idiot. 'Why do I have to be so clumsy?'
The barista appeared within seconds, however, and the boy expunged his self-critical thoughts and proceeded to order. "Um, can I have a green tea, please?" The woman flashed him a huge smile, asked him if he wanted sugar with it, and after receiving Levi's nod moved off to prepare his drink. It didn't take long, and within seconds the girl had handed him a teacup on small tray littered with sugar cubes. The Hufflepuff thanked her, gave her his money, and returned to the table where Hazel sat.
"So, um, what kind of tea do you have?" He inquired softly, thinking that it was a ridiculous question soon after it had slipped into the air. He distracted himself by plopping four of the five sugar cubes into his drink, stirring it around, and then hiding his face with the cup as he took a sip and inhaled the steam.

Another slightly awkward silence fell and Hazel took another small sip of her tea. It was hot and she burned her tongue on it earlier when she had taken a large gulp of it. She shook her head slightly, pushing her hair off her shoulders. She wasn’t quite sure what else she could say to bring conversation about. Luckily she didn’t have to when he decided he would go get tea. He had laughed in embarrassment, and she had offered him a sweet smile to try and alleviate the discomfort.
While he was gone Hazel took that opportunity to sit back up and pull her jeans down a little bit, they were riding up her shins. Once she got that adjusted, she slumped back in her seat. She debated momentarily about getting herself a small treat to eat. She decided against it, and searched the light coat she had for the candy she knew she had stashed in there. She glanced up when Levi returned.
"So, um, what kind of tea do you have?"
“Oh, I got Herbal tea.” Hazel replied. “I have enough sugar in my system without needing anything extra.” She said with a laugh. “What about you?” She offered him some M&Ms from the bag she had unearthed from her coat pocket. People who knew Hazel knew she almost always had some kind of candy on her at any given time. It was her downfall, and she knew it.
