{OOC: This reminds me of when we met in real life, except I didn't dive for a book. XD}
The girl was forgiving and apologetic, it seemed. She was actually freaking out over Dei's frantic book-dive, which miraculously succeeded. "Y-Yes. Er... everything's just fine with me. Um, no harm, no foul." One of the few situations when the words 'harm' and 'foul' aren't involved. "Er... How's that cat of yours?" She hoped the poor creature hadn't been frightened too badly.
Dei absolutely adored cats. They're her second-favorite animal, right behind owls. She loved calico, tabby, Siamese, Russian blue, you name it. And the one thing Dei hates more than seeing books ruined is witnessing living creatures being injured, whether it be on purpose or a complete accident. Great. If that cat is hurt, it'll be my fault. Oh, the irony! "I'm... I'm really not good at the whole conversation thing, sorry. B-but I genuinely hope it hasn't been harmed. Er... What's its name?"

Arielle let out a sigh of relief. "I'm glad you and your book are all right. Her name is Kiko. She is a Siamese" Arielle walked up to her cat and picked her up. She tried consoling Kiko, but that was a lot to take. "I really am sorry." The blood was starting to pool on the floor. She hadn't even realized that it was bleeding."Wow, the teacher is not going to like that." She took her shirt and ripped it. She took the shirt fragment and tied it to her arm.
"That should do it." She watched her cat start licking the pool. "Ew." She commented. Arielle was very handy with that sort of thing. "Poor shirt. Oh well!" She would just use one of her other almost identical shirts. "Kiko is fine. She falls a lot, but she's never been hurt." Kiko was a very sturdy cat. "That was just the first time in a while I've sent someone flying to the floor." Arielle was a very clumsy so Kiko was very used to falling and or getting thrown by Arielle. It was not a very hard life though.
"I would have done the same thing with my book. I love my books almost as much as Kiko."It was true though. She was very protective about her books. When she did plays, if her script was in danger, she would attack them with all of her might.

{OOC: Sucky and short post, I know. I'm tired.}
Wait. Back up. She likes books and cats? Dei had no idea the other girl shared any of her interests. "That's... great?" Yeah, that was brilliant. Keep talking Deirdre, you're going the way of the dodo as it is. "Er... I didn't mean it like that. I just, uh... I just meant to say that it's great you look after your cat. Um... I like cats, too. Er, uh, um... What's your favorite breed?" The look on her own face was one of shock. She'd finally done it. I'm actually making conversation! I'm actually talking to someone!
It was definitely a change of pace for Deirdre, who only ever asked her teachers questions, who never talked to anyone outside of the classroom. She hadn't "made conversation" since first year, and before that... Before that, talking seemed like a bittersweet memory.

Arielle put her hands on her hips and looked out the window. "Hmm, I guess my favorite breed would be... either Siamese or Mancoon. I like all breeds though!" Her smile lit up very large. She turned back to Deirdre. Okay, know beating around the bush. "So, do you want to be friends? I know we had a rocky start, but I think it would be fun!" It would be kind of hard to be friends with someone in another house, but she didn't care. She thought this girl was great. "It will be a nice change of pace to have someone to sit with at the lunch table." Her cat seemed to have already gotten used to this girl. She jumped onto Dei's shoulder and started purring.
Arielle decided to look at the book in her hand. "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them... Nice choice! It's the first book I checked out from this library! It was very interesting." She was amazed at how much these two girls had in common. She had never found anyone with any common intersts. "So like I said before, do you want to be friends?"She thought it would be so fun to be able to talk to somebody. All negative notions of her washed away there and then. She eagerly awaited for her to respond.

[ooc: *comes back to life*]
Lily instantly clammed up when their little party of two became three. She wasn't the best in social situations, even during the best days, so having more than one person around was enough to throw her off straight away. She backed away while the girls started talking, but was ashamed to admit she whipped out her camera to catch Deirdre jumping to save her book. It had been instinct, such a natural and incredible shot that at first all Lily could think of was triumph. She'd gotten a decent picture out of this after all!
And then, of course, came the shame. Neither girl seemed to have noticed as they were both occupied with each other, so she kept quiet and started edging her way towards the door. A small part of her was kicking herself - she had a chance to be talking to people her own age and here she was, keeping silent and blowing it for herself - but overall it seemed like she had nothing in common with these two. Maybe it was for the best that she hadn't gotten involved? Already she felt like she was intruding on a friendship, or on a private conversation.
She couldn't help herself from making one final comment, though. She had seen Arielle's arm begin to bleed and while the girl had temporarily staunched the flow, if it was so bad that it had been pooling on the floor then she really ought to go see a doctor or something and pretty soon. "You, uh, should go see the nurse," she piped up, pointing to the wound in question. "Get it dresssed and make sure it won't be affected and..."
She felt stupid for even beginning to speak. "Yeah, sorry, I'm gonna go..." And with that, she quickly headed for the door.

Arielle looked at the other girl. "Wait!" She shouted hoping she would turn back. "Sorry, I just kind of thought that you wanted to keep to yourself. I'm sorry for intruding! You don't have to leave. I... I like the company. Come here, you wanna talk? By the way, my cut will be fine. I've stopped it from bleeding and my cuts tend to heal before they can get infected. What's your name?" Arielle loved being able to talk to actual human beings. She would really like to talk to some girls without them laughing at her. Arielle had never had much success with girls talking to her. Most just laughed and walked away.
"I didn't mean to leave you out. Oh! Nice your camera!" She stared admiringly at the girl. She had beautiful hair. "I love your hair, but you might want to try a ponytail. It looks like the kind of hair that will go wild after a simple gust of wind." She didn't mean to be rude, but she just naturally knew and pointed out these things. She looked really nice. "If you wanna talk, your welcome to."

{OOC: Yay, she's back! But... Nuuuu, Lily! Don't leave us!}
Deirdre would have called out to the girl as well, if she hadn't already been mortified by the book-diving incident. And if she knew how to properly socialize. Bottom line, she was lacking in both areas. Dei knew she'd had enough excitement for one... Well, as far as she's concerned, one lifetime. Today had been the most dynamic day since first year, since Sorting. It seemed so long ago to Dei, when she was Sorted into Ravenclaw, and the whole table clapped as she had awkwardly taken a seat upon the bench.
"Look, uh, if you want to leave, that's, er, your choice. But it's just that, um, I've hardly ever had friends before, and uh... Well, maybe it's time that I, um... I was thinking... Er, nevermind." She so desperately wanted to say something to convince the other girl to stay. "Well, if you have to go, can I... Can I... What's y-your n-name?" She stuttered severely on that last bit, as was to be expected.

[ooc: guys, seriously, lily can run away and you can poke her at another date if you want XD or she can stay, it's up to yoooou *wiggles fingers*]
Lily froze, right by the door, one hand gripping the heavy wood. She turned, feeling uncomfortable and regretting the fact she'd even spoken. She hadn't meant to give them the impression that anyone was intruding (after all, that had been Lily in the first place, stumbling upon Deirdre in the tower to begin with) or that they were leaving her out. Arielle was right; by nature, Lily did keep to herself and she wasn't one to get into huge conversations very often, especially ones quite as fast paced as the pair before her had been having. She turned round, as it was rude to have your back to someone when speaking, and wondered what she should do now.
Lily looked down at the camera in her hands and could feel her cheeks turning a faint shade of red, which deepened and felt as though it was going to burn her cheeks off when Arielle complimented her hair. Lily reached a hand up to tug on a lock, faintly unsure of what to say. She'd always hated her hair, the constant reminder of her family and her heritage, and she was determined to dye it as soon as she got her hands on some hair colourant. ”Er, thank you,” she eventually said, still a little startled that these people seemed to actually want to talk to her. Of all people in the school... ”Y-you have very nice hair too?” It came out more of a question than a statement, as she didn't quite know how one was supposed to respond to such a situation.
Lily's attention turned to Deirdre, who also seemed to be protesting. Sort of. She felt a wave of sympathy as the girl admitted that she didn't have many friends and looked down at the floor, embarrassed. ”Uh, me neither,” she admitted, looking up with a weak smile. She was a little surprised to be asked for her name, did that mean she'd want to talk to her again sometime, or was she just being polite? Lily couldn't actually tell. ”Lily,” she replied simply, grasp on the door loosening slightly.

Finally. Dei probably should have asked Lily her name to start with, but... you know. She was relieved, though, that she'd gotten that last bit out of her system. The more she can choke out in one sentence, the less she'll have to say in the next. She smiled, nervously, of course, and tucked her hair back behind her ears. "Um," she said awkwardly, although a little less than before, "That's a really, er, beautiful name." It's better than mine. Half the people in my year can't pronounce it. "Er... Deirdre's an Irish name. I'm half Irish. I'm an, um... My mum was from Ireland." Okay, you've found a conversation topic. Roll with it.
"My dad's from England. I, er... I grew up in a village." Oooh, talk about randomosity. What am I going to say next? Hope I don't screw it up, whatever it'll be. "Um, er, uh... Where did you, uh, grow up?"

{ooc: sorry the post is so short, I have to go to bed soon.}
Arielles eyes lit up. "Oh! I'd love to here about that. Where are you from?" Arielle noticed almost immediately that both girls were nervous. She was trying very hard to make it easy for them. She thought about her hair. It was not pretty. It was boring. She planned on dyeing it either blue or purple soon. Maybe even green. That would be cool. "I love red hair. It is so happy looking. It also makes your eyes sparkle. Do you have Ireish roots?"
"I grew up in Santa Cruz. It's over in The States. That's where I learned to surf. I love to surf." Arielle missed her surfboard. She had to leave it at home. Nowhere to surf anyway. She directed back to Lily. It really was a beautiful name. She imagined herself riding on the early morning waves of Santa Cruz.
