Jake ran his fingers through his short hair as he headed down the hall to the Prefect's bathroom. He tried to think of the DADA assignment that he still had to do but today he was having a bit of trouble concentrating on anything besides the thoughts racing through his brain. Ever since he'd officially met Ashley O'Neill at the Quidditch pitch last week he'd spent a little more time getting to know the blond and found out he was a pretty good guy, he was funny too and Jake was glad that he didn't end up treating Ash like an invalid. Jake didn't have much contact with someone who was different in the sense of having a disability, no one in his immediate family ever had serious injuries like that, and he always silently feared that if he did meet someone it would turn disastrous and the person would get annoyed with Jake trying to help constantly.
Shaking his head slightly to clear his head of the babbling thoughts he spoke the password before slipping inside the large room. The gaping hole in the floor looked monstrous without water in it, so Jake walked around it to turn the taps on. He turned on a couple of scented faucets to make the room become a soothing environment. Jake slowly peeled his clothes off until he was just in his boxer briefs he sat down on the edge of the tub, watching it fill up and the taps turn themselves off. His mind slowly started to drift into confusing thoughts as he sat there with his legs in the water, these thoughts made the seventh year pretty oblivious to anything else going on around him. The mermaid on the wall trying to give him flirty looks and flip her tail wasn't even catching his eye.

Ashley hadn’t been stalking him. Not really anyway. It wasn’t like he just aimlessly followed him around, he had a purpose. After all, he too needed to get clean, and showers weren’t really a joy when you couldn’t even get out of the wheelchair. Usually someone helped him get in there, but today he was in the mood for a nice and relaxing bath. So when he had caught sight of Jake heading towards the Prefect Bathroom, he had followed him there, catching the door just before it was about to close.
He had spent some time with the boy lately, enjoying their conversations and finding that Jake was a pretty cute guy. The boy seemed to be looking at him a lot, which was another positive sign and maybe a tiny factor in why he had chosen this one to help him into the tub. He wasn’t planning to get naked or seduce him, he’d been a good boy and brought his shorts, he just figured that maybe Jake wouldn’t mind touching him all that much. And that maybe he’d find out whether or not he should make work of what was going on between them. Innocent enough, right?
As he noticed Jake sitting down on the edge of the tub, back towards him, Ash coughed quietly, alerting the other to his presence. He gave him somewhat of a wave, a lopsided smile on his face. ”Hiya” His voice was soft, brown eyes warm as he looked at the boy he considered a friend. ”Mind if I join you?” He’d heard all about the guys dad and how he disliked gays, but hoped that Jake would be different. He certainly seemed to be, with checking him out and all that.

Jake had shifted to lean back on his hands behind him on the marble floor, aimlessly kicking his feet slowly in the bath. One normally didn't sit on the edge of a tub to just kick at the water like you'd do at a swimming pool but Jake for some reason was waiting to get into the warm water. He tilted his head back a long, somewhat distressed sounding sight escaping his lips. Why did certain personal things have to be so confusing? He tilted his head to the left then to t he right, wincing when he felt a twinge of pain, he'd fallen asleep in an odd position the night before from reading in bed and had a crick in his neck most of the day that he'd forgotten about until just now. With that he sat up, rubbed his neck for a moment before putting his hand back behind him where it was just as the other boy came into the room.
Hearing the quiet cough to signal the presence of another, his head twisted to the left slightly to look over his shoulder to see who it was. Blue eyes locked with brown and he couldn't help a little smile at seeing his new friend there. "Hey.. yeah, you can come in." he said before thinking it over. Had he really just invited another boy to share a bath with him? Yes, it sure looked and sounded like that. Good thing I waited to take my shorts off.. he thought briefly before turning a little to see Ash better, wondering if the younger boy had followed him to the bath. He tilted his chin up just slightly and arched a brow, trying to look suspicious "Did you follow me up here?" he asked in a slight accusatory tone, but his eyes gave him away since they weren't glaring at him because he was slightly amused if Ash had followed him.

Ashley grinned a little when Jake asked whether or not he’d followed him. ”Guilty as charged, sir” He gave him a little smart salute, tilting his head to look at him with sparkling brown eyes. ”Am I going to be punished now?” He couldn’t help joking around with him, it was one of his ways to flirt. Doing the real deal, looking deeply into each others eyes and all that crap, he simply wasn’t too good at it. Humor had always been his way to a guys heart.
Riding his wheelchair further into the room, he allowed the door to close behind him with a soft click. His wheels were wet from the water that had dripped onto the floor and it was so hot in the room that Ash just wanted to rip off his shirt and jump into the pool. ”I really wanted a bath and I figured you would be nice enough to help me out” The Hufflepuff gave the other boy another breathtaking smile, hoping that his good looks would win him the race. Either that or the friendship that they shared. Jake was hard to figure out sometimes. Though he looked at Ashley, he seemed a little uncomfortable with his being gay.

Jake chuckled when Ashley saluted him "I thought I heard a certain squeaky wheel behind me in the corridors.." he murmured, not really hearing anything since he'd been distracted the entire walk up here. Looking at him when he asked if he was going to be punished, he just smiled slightly again "You just get a warning this time." he murmured. He enjoyed the little banter between them. At first it seemed like Ashley was flirting with him and it made him uncomfortable at first but after a while he just brushed it off and went along with the banter. Being able to joke around was an attractive trait on anybody.
Glancing at the door when he heard the quiet click he swallowed somewhat nervously since now they were alone in a room that pretty much felt like a sauna. Pulling his feet up out of the water, he reached over and grabbed a towel, drying his legs and feet off so he didn't fall on his face on the marble and he stood up. "I might be nice enough to do that.. what's in it for me?" he joked, figuring he'd at least see what Ashley had to offer besides that adorable smile. Wait..did he just think of Ashley as adorable? The perfumes must be getting to his brain.

"I thought I heard a certain squeaky wheel behind me in the corridors.."
”Darn. And I thought I was being sneaky. I should ask someone to cast a silencing charm on the damn thing so I can at least stalk you properly” Ash couldn’t help but laugh at the idea. Stalking someone while being in a wheelchair would be difficult enough, even without the noise. All the object of his affection had to do was climb a stairway and he was out of the race. The Hufflepuff barely realized he had called Jake the object of his affection in his head. It really didn’t come as a surprise. Ashley had always fallen in love rather quickly, too quickly sometimes. But it sure beat boxing up his heart and never falling for anyone, like a certain Slytherin friend he had.
"I might be nice enough to do that.. what's in it for me?"
He pretended to look coy for a moment, fluttering his eyelashes in mock flirtation. ”Who knows’ The blonde murmured softly, glancing up at him innocently. ”Why, if I didn’t know any better I’d say you were flirting with me Mr. Masello” There was still that smile that took the edge off the words. The last thing Ashley wanted was for Jake to feel uncomfortable, but it just felt so natural to be this way around him.

"If I had my wand on me, I'd do it" he said, looking at his rumpled clothes in a pile on a bench near the wall. He could easily walk over to grab it but decided not to just yet, but he did realize then that he was only in his shorts. He shifted his weight from one foot to the other a bit nervously slowly starting to feel naked but he quickly shook the feeling off. Guys in the dormitories were just in their underwear half the time. That's how it worked generally, just not all guys checked out the others pants.
He almost laughed at Ash batting his eyelashes but he got a slight tinge of red on his cheeks when he accused him of flirting. "Flirting? Ha.. no.." he chuckled nervously, looking away from him. He looked at the tub then at the mermaid flipping her tail flirtatiously again before looking at the pile of clothes then his eyes landed last on the floor in front of his feet. "N-no.. not flirting." he mumbled, stumbling over his words just slightly and he quickly tried to think of something else to change the subject.
"Um.. If you're wanting to get in the bath then you'll have to tell me how to do it so I can help get you in there" he said glancing up at Ashley's face momentarily before tearing his eyes away again, holding back the blush that wanted to creep up on his face.

When Jake blushed like that, Ash bit his tongue, wanting to take back the words that apparently made him so uncomfortable. Just because he had grown up in a very gay-friendly environment didn’t mean that everyone else had the same experiences. The Ravenclaw had probably heard way different things all his life, about how gay people were wrong and that thinking about sex with a guy was a sin. He felt bad for the other, wondering how he would have been if he had grown up in those circumstances.
"Um.. If you're wanting to get in the bath then you'll have to tell me how to do it so I can help get you in there"
He nodded, realizing that Jake had just offered to silence his wheelchair so he could stalk him and not be noticed. It made his lips curl up into a smile as he looked at the other boy. Did Jake Masello have to be so cute? Wasn’t there like, a law against it? There should be. Straight people (which he wasn’t sure Jake was but would force himself to believe until he got indication otherwise) should not be making gay people like him want to pounce on him. Maybe it was a good thing that he couldn’t.
”Uh, well, this is going to be rather embarrassing, but I need help undressing...I have my shorts, but I can’t really...you know” Get out of the chair long enough to slide him on. Yep, Jake was pretty much going to see him naked, unless he managed to get him out of his clothes without looking. ”And then you’re going to have to lift me up and carry me into the water...Still happy I picked you?”

Jake had to force himself to breathe and try and act normal. His father's words were ringing in his ears now, how being gay was an abomination and how he'd found out that a handful of young soldiers in America were un-honorably discharged for admitting they were gay. That Don't-Ask-Don't-Tell policy sounded like a load of bollocks to Jake, but his father was all for keeping nothing but straight males in the army. 'They could concentrate on their jobs and not think about their dirty nails' John would say.
Slowly calming himself down from what might be seen as a slight panic attack, he looked at Ashley again when he started explaining how getting him into the bath would have to take place. "You saying I have to.." he started the trailed off. Of course Ash was saying that, he was asking for help and on some level that made Jake feel good that Ash wanted his help specifically. That must mean that the younger Hufflepuff trusted him, which made Jake feel good.
"Still happy I picked you?"
That sounded like sarcasm..most likely was. Jake gave a mock sigh "Well if that's all.. I think I can manage." he said, smiling slightly at him to let him know he was only joking. He knew he would at all costs avoid looking at the other while he was naked. He had to, who knows what would happen if he didn't keep his eyes to the floor during those few moments. He took a couple of steps over to where Ash was sitting glancing over the wheelchair looking for the brakes. The last thing he wanted was to have Ash roll into the hole in the floor.

Ash blushed a little when Jake got the message, hoping this wouldn’t turn into a huge awkward thing. He wasn’t really looking forward to being naked in front of the other, not when the Ravenclaw would be all confused and worried. The last thing he wanted was to make the older male feel like he was betraying his father. This wasn’t supposed to be about feelings, he just needed the others help.
He reached for the brakes, glad that his brain decided to work on some level that surpassed the ‘omg Jake is soooooooo cute’. Ashley took a deep breath, making sure that there wasn’t any difficult eye contact as he took off his shirt. The Hufflepuff felt uncomfortable about his body for about two seconds, before easing his facial features into a smile again.
”Good thing your dad isn’t here or he’d make this into something it isn’t.” He said it that way on purpose, not wanting Jake to think that this was a big deal when it didn’t have to be. Merlin, even if he was gay and obviously attracted to the older male, he wasn’t going to pounce on him or force him into something he didn’t want to. Aside from the fact that he physically couldn’t, he would never want anyone to feel like they had been taken advantage of.
