Dominique looked up when she heard the four words she wanted to hear, he cared about her and that made her happy, but as he continued she was about to look down but he brushed a soft kiss over her lips. It was so sweet Dominique wanted to cry. Looking back down at their intertwined hands she bit her lips trying to hold back the tears she knew were wanting to come, why did he have to do this, or was he trying to do this.
Pulling her hand away from his Dominique placed both her hands in her lap like a small child did when they were upset. The tears were threatening harder now and it was taking all Dominique’s might not to let them spill over the ledge, blinking them back Dominique tried to form a coherent sentence, “But what if I don’t want you to?” she question while still avoiding his gaze, if she looked at him now those tears would come back and she wouldn’t be able to stop them.
“When have I ever made you promise me things?” Dominique questioned, “I knew what I was getting into when I went into this relationship Ryan” she said now looked up at him, the sadness hopefully gone from her eyes, with a hint of irritation now there, she had never asked him to promise her anything, other than that he would try, and was this trying for him? Running away when things got tough in the relationship, “Ryan like I said before I’m not going to be the one to end this, I’m the happiest I have been when I’m with you, but if you want to end this you will be the one to do it not me, and I’m not going to fight you on it, do I want us to end? No, but I’m not going to be the girl that guilts you into staying in the relationship if your not happy.” she finally said and then went back to silence and waited for Ryan to speak

She was right. He knew she was. She was different than most people. Unlike them, she let him get away with things. And that was exactly what he shouldn’t do. He shouldn’t want to be with her if he would end up hurting her. Ryan looked up at her, noticing how instead of sad, she looked irritated with him. The Ravenclaw still looked somewhat like a little girl, making him feel all protective over her. But how could he protect her from himself if she didn’t want him to?
”Domi...” Merlin, this was hard. The scary thing was that she was trying to make him stay. That his resolves were crumbling. Logically, objectively, he knew that things could never work out between him and Tristram. The man was...and he didn’t even like him back. The feelings would fade, wouldn’t they? If he just ignored them and focused on Dominique...maybe it would even work out well, now that he didn’t have the drive to be sexual with everyone anymore. Maybe this was all meant to happen. It wouldn’t be too hard to forget about Professor Blake, wouldn’t it?
”I am happy, when I’m with you. It’s when I’m not with you that things go wrong...I...I just don’t want to hurt you. You mean too much to me. I want to be with you. I don’t know how things will go, but I do.” He would try. Instead of hurting her, he would try and make things better. He at least owed her that, didn’t he? It didn’t matter that he was falling in love with the wrong person, he would just ignore it and try to care for her instead.

“Then be with me Ryan.” she spoke looking him directly in the eye after he finished his I’m happy when I’m with you but things go wrong when I’m not speech, “I’m a big girl Ryan, getting hurt is a part of life, but don’t end this just because you’re scared you’ll hurt me.” she said with all seriousness in her voice, “if you want to end this end it because you no longer have feelings for me not because you’re and okay you have feelings for another person I can understand that, but even with that I still want to be with you.”
Most people would call her nuts for wanting to be with someone who not only cheated on her once but multiple times and was falling in love with someone who wasn’t her. But Dominique didn’t care she wanted to be with him, no matter what it took, she was going to work at it, if she worked hard enough for both of them with him adding some work, they could work, she knew they could.
She had owled her family earlier that week about her and Ryan, and they had been ecstatic, they didn’t care that the boy was in slytherin, they were just happy that their daughter for the first time in a long time was happy, and was smiling everyday just from thinking about him, no way was she going to let him walk away from her, not without a fight at least, and when Domi fought she didn’t like to lose, no matter how long it took, she was going to fight.

Ryan listened to her, staying quiet after she had ended her speech. There wasn’t much he could say except for okay. They would try. He would try, because she was right, he hadn’t. Not really. Not yet, anyway. Leaning in, he kissed her softly, running fingers through her dark curls. Even though he wouldn’t make her promises, he still made them in his head, wanting to keep them this time. Wanting to make sure that no matter what, he wouldn’t end up hurting her again.
”Let’s go out to dinner tonight. There’s this place in Hogsmeade, not too far away...we could go there and just be together for a while. I missed not seeing you...” He really had. When Dominique was around, it wasn’t too hard to be with her. It wasn’t like he had to make a conscious effort to be faithful to her. That only happened when she wasn’t near him, and she hadn’t been. Maybe if they changed that, they’d work out. Maybe this time he could actually put some effort into their relationship.
”I’d like to spend some time with you. I’ve been seeing more of Louis than of you lately and no matter how adorable he is, I really would like to see my girl once in a while.” His girl. Dominique Weasley was his girl. And damn it. She would stay his girl if he had anything to say about it.

[/b] all irritation gone from her eyes now replaced with the sparkle that was once always in her eyes when she was with Ryan Dominique laughed at the comment he was seeing more of her little brother than of her, “Well that makes one of us, I haven’t seen him in ages, how is he doing?” she asked sincerely wondering how her brother was, last she heard he was still with Kris, but she didn’t know if that was true or not in the present time, sure she wondered but at the current moment she was focused on her and Ryan and how they weren’t ending which only caused another smile to break across her lips as she looked at Ryan. Glancing down at her paper Dominique laughed a little, maybe now that everything was worked out between her and Ryan she’d actually be able to focus long enough to get some work done, but she didn’t care about that right now she was staying focused on Ryan, reaching across the table Domi pushed a piece of Ryan’s hair behind his ear before kissing him lightly on the lips, she hadn’t kissed Ryan in a while and missed the waves of warmth that would wash over her body every time their lips touch. Hearing someone clear their throat Dominique looked up and blushed a dark shade of red. The librarian was staring at the pair and shaking her head, and mumbling something about the youth these days, “well it’s been a while since we’ve gotten that.” Dominique joked laughing at the reaction from the librarian[/ul]

Ryan laughed as the librarian scolded them for being affectionate in the library, taking Dominique’s hand and squeezing it softly under the table. ”Last I heard, he was still cuddling up to Kristian. They’re so cute together. Wanna bet, they get married before even finishing Hogwarts...” He could just see them, still together when they were eighty. In a rocking chair, staring out over their garden, holding hands and just sitting there, knowing that they were loved. Merlin, he could get jealous of his own thoughts.
”Hey, now that we’re in the library and all that, and we’re not really supposed to make babies in here, how about I try and help you with your paper? Or, as I like to call it, try not to distract you too much by staring at you.” She was a year ahead of him, he would most likely not know a single thing about what she was learning at the moment. But the thought of spending some more time with her, in their own little safe place where librarians scolded them for kissing but didn’t add fuel to the gossip, that sounded like heaven.

[/b]Dominique asked raising a brow, [/b]”you’ll only distract me just enough is that what your saying?”[/b] smiling as she squeezed his hand back, knowing full well she’d let Ryan distract her as much as he wanted too, he always made getting distracted so much fun. And if he was spending time with her maybe those rumors that were flying around would slow down to a halt, not that she really minded them, because the way she looked at is sure there were rumors but there was Ryan, sitting right next to her, holding her hand a squeezing it the way he did when they first started after the first speed bump, but she didn’t mind the speed bumps they made their relationship not only more interesting but also stronger, or at least that’s how she saw it.[/ul]

Ryan loved seeing her smile like that. It made him smile back, in the way that lit up his face. Squeezing her hand softly, he brought it to his lips to brush a kiss over her soft skin. ”Maybe just a little. After all if you finish your work too quickly I won’t be able to stare at you as much” He laughed softly, twirling one of her curls around his finger and checking to see if the librarian was still watching. When he noticed she had disappeared, he leaned in quickly to catch her lips in a soft kiss.
Speed bumps. That was a good way of looking at it. Ryan wished he could be as sure as she seemed to be, about the strength of their relationship. He was filled with hope, with determination, but he knew that it could waver at any point. If Tristram came around, for instance. He’d think about him, dream about him. Fantasize about how it could be, even if he knew things would never turn out that way. The point was that they still could, and that he knew what he had now. Things with Dominique were great, they were fine, but what if that other thing, that sinful addiction, could turn into something better?
