Ash listened to his best friend, smiling when the boy was so protective over Oscar. He had never really bothered to talk to the boy, then again he had only been around for a month or two now. Though he had noticed the way others seemed to look down on the caretaker, he had only given him a second thought when Seth began hanging out with him. ”Well if you want to we could hang out sometime...the three of us?” It was important to him that Seth knew he accepted Oz completely. Whether it was as a friend or something more, he’d back his friend up all the way.
”Relax, Seth. I was only joking. Look, I’m happy if you are, you know that. I don’t want to intrude on you and Oz, I just figured maybe he’d like some friends” He knew all too well how difficult it was to be somewhere and never be a full part of the community. Though his friends here were amazing, he was always different. He needed help, needed to relearn things he’d done so easily in the past. Ashley couldn’t even imagine how bad it was to not be able to do magic in this school. He figured that Oscar wouldn’t need his pity though. He himself loathed it when others thought that way about him. Neither of them were weak, they were just different.

As much as Seth knew Ash wanted to meet Oz, and most likely give him the once over to make sure he wasn't about to tear Seth apart - Seth knew Oz wouldn't want it. He didn't really speak to anybody apart from him. It was like he was scared of people, with good reason, "Oscar wouldn't like it," Seth replied truthfully, knowing full well that Ash would most likely get annoyed at him for keeping this part of his life from him. But for now that's what Oscar was - his. The one part of his whacked out life that was ever so slightly normal.
Seth could see where Ash was coming from, but Ash didn't know Oscar. Oscar had barely wanted Seth as a friend, he'd tried to get away, to escape the situation. Seth just hadn't let him. "I know you mean well mate, but it's just not for the best right now," Oscar didn't do 'friends' and he didn't do 'crowds' he was less socially inclined than Seth was, it was a miracle that they had even become friends in the first place, "I know you wanna meet him and everything, Ash, but Oscar's really not a people person. It kinda scares him if there are too many speaking to him at once," that wasn't exactly far from the truth, either.
"I'll keep you updated yeah?" That was the best Seth could do for the situation right about now.

Ashley listened to Seth, furrowing his brows in thought. He’d always been a popular kid, loving to spend time with his friends and feeling completely at ease in any crowd. It had changed somewhat after the accident, when he was forced to think about himself, but he still needed people around most of the time. It was hard to see where Oscar was coming from, though he sort of related to him – knowing that they were both different from the regular kids at Hogwarts.
”Alright, if you say so.” His smile was warm and easy. He didn’t know much about Oz, but he knew that the kid was lucky with a friend like Seth. For a moment he got jealous, not wanting anyone to be Seth’s best friend but him, but that was ridiculous. He himself had many people he hung out with, it didn’t change a damn thing about his relationship with Seth.
”Pass the message on though, yeah? I don’t want him to think he has to be afraid of me. I mean...what’s the worst I can do? Ride over his foot. Fat lot of good that will do.” Ash grinned at his friend, hoping that Seth would understand that he wasn’t trying to barge in on their relationship, merely trying to get to know someone who meant a lot to his best mate. But fair do’s, if Oscar didn’t want to hang out with someone, he wasn’t going to force his company onto the caretaker. He just didn’t like him feeling like an outcast when there were plenty of friendly people around.

They truly were from two completely differenet worlds. One of them liked to be surrounded by people, made friends at the drop of a hat and had probably made out with half the gay guys in school, the other had yet to even kiss a single person - properly at least. Seth didn't see Ash's advance on him as anything he would count considering it came mid-argument and not as a sweet something they both wanted at that particular moment. At least, Seth hadn't, he was trying to be pissed off with the guy.
Seth merely nodded in reply. He did say so. He'd ask Oscar about it, but he was pretty certian that it would freak him out. Like Ash was dheking him over and was destined to tell him to staythe hell away from Seth, which deep down was the one thing Seth dreaded the most. He wanted to be friends with Oscar without having any other worries. Knowing now that Ash 'approved' made it slightly easier to accept, but he still worried about every little thing. The entire world was full of liars after all.
"It's not just you though, it's more of an entire school collective thing," he said drawing a circle in teh air with his two hands and clasping his fingers together once he was done, "And that bloody well hurts, Ash! You can't just run over peoples feet adn expect it not to hurt! It really does!" he'd been there! In the earlier days when Ash was still getting used to it he'd had his foot run over a fair few times and it didn't half hurt like hell.
Oscar and Seth alike had spent the majority of their lives as outcasts, Seth didn't see that changing for either of them any time soon. They had each other for friendship and to have a laugh with, but on from that who knew. They didn't necessarily need anybody else, they were still fairly lonely in a rather large crowd, but who needed the masses when you had the one?

If Seth was happy, so was he. It was simple like that. If Seth wanted Oscar, that was all there was to it. He’d support his friend and trust in his good instincts. What good would it do to tell him to stay away from someone he cared about? What kind of friend would that make him? He didn’t need his permission, but he wanted to give it to Seth all the same. Because Ash knew him and he knew that the other was worried about things like that.
”I suppose. I just feel bad for him, y’know? I don’t want him to feel lonely, but maybe he’s fine with things like you are.” This talk with Seth was doing wonders to distract him, though he still occasionally flashed back to August. It would tighten his jaw, but he would deal with it. Their relationship had been a good one, but he knew that they’d have to be able to talk. At the moment it wasn’t working out for the two Hufflepuffs, because he wasn’t even allowed to apologize.
He’d be okay though. Ash wasn’t the type to sulk for long. He wanted to make the most of life, whether that was with a boyfriend or on his own. What good would it do to be depressed about everything? If things didn’t work out, it obviously wasn’t meant to be. He’d still fight for August if he could, but maybe right now was not the right time for them to be together.

Seth was happy. He was happy spending time in the company of Oscar be it in the library talking over books about books or in Oscar's office talking about books or school or other muggle things. Things that wuld make Oscar seem like he fitted in more with him. Oscar fitted in with Seth more than he thought, he fitted with him so naturally it was unreal. The only other person Seth had befriended so quickly had been Ash, but even thqt friendship had taken it's time to shine.
Seth didn't speak, he just nodded. He knew Oscar would be happier the less people he had to talk to. Talking, or just generally being verbal was not his forte, "Pretty certain he is, yeah," he finally remarked with a grin plastered to his face, lying back on hispillows and picking up the book he had left on his bed the previous night. It was another copy of the book Oscar had been reading in the library when he met him.
Seth was in his own little bubble again. He was happy, nobody was about to bring him down. His birthday was soon, he'd just spent time with Oscar, he had aranged to see him again the next day, this time going to his office. He liked it in here, it was small, and kinda cramped but it was Oscar. It was who he was all in one room.
