Ashley knew all this, of course he did, but it didn't make things any easier. He still had his aunt, but they hadn't seen much of each other before the accident, and he really didn't feel like sharing his misery with the girl who had just lost her brother. He didn't want anyone to think that he couldn't handle it, that they ought to pity him, because he hated that. He hated when people looked at him, looked at his chair, and thought that he must be feeling sorry for himself or be too stupid to care.
He was stupid. It was hard, getting into a new school, settling into a new life and not being able to do the things you could before the accident. He'd been well on his way to passing his OWL's (not all, mind you, but at least some) before this had all gone down. Sighing deeply, he pressed closer to Seth, needing the contact and the warmth of the other right now. "I'm so glad I still have you, Seth. I wouldn't know what to do without you in my life." It was one of the reasons that he tried not to show his affection - something that was very difficult at times like this.

Seth fought the urge to yawn. It was late, he hadn’t slept since six thirty that morning. He was used to the early mornings, hell, if you wanted a good breakfast you had to get to the Great Hall at an early enough time that the decent stuff was left. Not that the house elves let you starve, but if you were happy enough to live off toast, being late was right for you.
The last thing Seth wanted to appear as, was somebody who was taking pity on Ash. Sure he helped him with everything he needed, and yeah, he felt sorry for the guy who wouldn’t. But to Seth, Ash was his best friend. He was everything that Seth had at Hogwarts, let alone what he needed. Seth wasn’t exactly Mr Popular.
Seth pulled away from Ash at last, sighing to himself and looking around slightly. He caught a glimpse of Ash’s chair before looking out the window. They could both do with some air. Jumping up from the bed in a second he made his way to Ash’s trunk. Ripping it open, pulling hastily at its hinges. Grabbing a top, which he threw in Ash’s direction and a pair of trousers, he made his way back to his best friends side.
”We’re going for a walk,” he said hastily, picking up the top from where it had landed in between their two beds. Ash could put the top on, on his own, but he’d need Seth for the second part – the trouser part. Pushing his glasses back onto his face fully, as they had fallen down his nose in his rush to get the clothing for Ash, Seth offered a smile at the blonde. Thee was no point wallowing in this stupor. It only made Ash more depressed, and Seth feel more useless than he already did on a daily basis.

"Correction, you're going for a walk. I'm going for a ride." Ashley couldn't help but smile though and it was obvious in his voice, in his eyes when he looked at his friend. Yea, he could get dressed on his own, but he preferred to have Seth touch him, even if it was a selfish thing to want. He grabbed the top from the others hand, pushing himself into a sitting position. It took a lot of strength to do everything with his upper half, and his body was slowly shaping to be a little more muscular than it had been before.
He caught Seths eyes and laughed softly. "I know, right. I get muscles just when I have no purpose for them anymore." His eyes were sparkling a little as he looked at his friend. "Unless I was inclined to tackle and pin you to the bed." He had done that a few times in the past, but they had just been friends. Noah had been there in between of them.

Seth laughed, ”You’re going for a roll,” if Seth was anybody else, he would have been beaten up, but he wasn’t saying it in an offensive manner. Seth knew where his boundaries were with what he could say and couldn’t. He tried them enough over the last few months. A cheeky smile plastered his face and he grabbed his cloak from the end of his own bed.
”Sure you have purpose for them,” he said as he turned back around towards Ash’s bed, running his gaze up and down the boys body. ”Pin me all you want, O’Neill,” he chuckled as he picked up the pair of trousers he had gotten out for Ash the minute before. ”You can just do stuff for yourself in future,” he said with a wink before helping his friend put on his trousers. Leavering him up to get his clothing all the way up. He could do the button himself.
”Come on then,” he said brightly before looking around once more and pushing his glasses back up his nose, he really must get the bridge of them sorted. He took a hold of Ash’s chair and waited for him to get in. He could do that himself as well. Along with push himself around, but Seth was in the mood for pushing.

Ashley just laughed softly, whacking his friend on the head with a pillow before sliding into his jeans, doing the button and moving himself to the chair. "You're just lucky I love you too damn much" He whispered it, eyes still sparkling as he slipped into the seat and beamed up at his best friend. He did love him, more than he should, but well, he was different after the accident.
Before all of this had happened he had never given Seth a second thought. The Hufflepuff was just his dorky best friend. The one who wore glasses and stumbled often, someone who was always there and wrote him long letters every other week. And then he'd transferred to Hogwarts, hadn't contacted his boyfriend since. Noah hadn't written to him either, though his aunt had given him the address. And well, Seth was just...there and so incredibly Seth-ish.

Seth pushed the chair towards the door of the dorm, laughing to himself, ”You can never love me too much, mate. I do too much for you for you not too!” he smiled to himself as he made his way into the main common room and then out towards the hallway. He couldn’t deny that he loved Ash as well. He did, he was just a little unsure as too how much. He was his best friend, but he knew it extended to more than that.
He left Ash a few foot from the door before checking that there was nobody around. Everybody else was already in bed asleep so nobody had noticed them leave. Pushing Ash out of the door and quietly down the corridor, always on the look out for a teacher, or a ghost.
Their next task would be getting up the stairs. Easily enough done in the day, but without much giggling from both boys, or Ash shouting at Seth to ‘Go careful!’. Seth brought the chair to a halt, moving around in front of Ash and placing a finger on his lips, indicating for the guy in the wheelchair to be quiet.
Seth got his wand out of his sleeve. Swish and flick. That’s what they’d been taught in one of their first ever lessons. ”Ready?” Seth mouthed at his friend, a mischievous sheen in his eyes.

Ashley shook his head good-naturedly, eyeing the wand in his friends hand. "Drop me and you'll die Hevulen" His voice was soft, they did not want to alert anybody to their nightly escape. Most of the teachers thought him to be a nice boy, but even he was supposed to follow the rules. And Seth. Seth would definitely get into a lot of trouble for sneaking them out of the castle in the middle of the night.
Smiling at his friend, he showed him with eyes only that he trusted him. He had always, and would always, trust him with anything and everything. In fact, Seth was the only person that he trusted to never treat him like an invalid. He was hoping, with all his heart, that if he ever got something more than friendship from the boy, that their relationship wouldn't be centered around something so small.

Seth pouted, and tilted his head. ”Wingardium Leviosa,” he said under his breath. The matching wand movement expelling from his hand. As Ash’s chair floated he kept it balanced so the guy didn’t fall out on his ascent. Once on his way though the ride was smooth, as always. Seth was a charms genius, it didn’t surprise him that he did it perfectly. It was his favourite and best subject.
”You are a man of little faith, O’Neill,” he said into his friends ear at nothing more than a whisper after he bounded up the stone steps light footedly. Taking a firm hold of the chair again he began to slowly push his friend down towards the exit to the school grounds. More steps, but their were also stairless walkways to get out, which made life slightly easier.
Seth headed in the direction of these now.
He kept quiet. The last thing he wanted to do was alert the school to their after hours wonderings. Confusion was plastered over the brunettes face as they approached the outer door. He knew what he felt for Ash was something important. He wanted to look after him and make sure he was okay and had everything he needed. He knew there were some things he could do for him that nobody else could. Some things he could do for him that Ash wanted nobody else to do. But Seth wasn’t sure if he was ready to give him that just yet.

Ashley shook his head again, a small smile playing along his lips as he thought of his friend and their...situation. He was fairly sure that he was falling for his friend, in fact, he was well on his way to being in love with him. But he knew that Seth wasn't ready for anything. The kid barely knew he was bisexual - though Ashley was pretty sure that he stood at least some chance. He didn't get the just-straight vibe from him. But maybe he was just hoping too much, being foolish over something he just wanted to happen.
Even so, even if Seth would turn out to like guys, chances were slim he'd like him. Some people thought that being best friends was an excellent first step to being in a relationship, but Ash wasn't so sure. Sometimes you knew too much. Sometimes it was odd to change it, to take that next step. And sometimes it was just plain stupid, because there was so much to lose.
It wasn't generally like him, to wait and just see what would happen. If he wanted something, he went after it. He had done this with Noah, who had been afraid to come out of the closet and tell him he cared. So he had taken a quite literal leap of faith - jumping off the tower and demanding that Noah catch him. He couldn't do that with Seth. He'd frighten the poor boy for life and it would most likely ruin their friendship. No, when it came to Seth Hevulen, Ashley O'Neill would have to just wait and hopefully be seduced.

When they reached the smaller door to the outside Seth unlatched it quickly, reaching over Ash to do so, and pushed him out through the door. Catching it before it swung shut on its own, making a hellish noise.
The cold air hit his face, unwelcome. He hadn’t quite realised it would be this cold outside. Pulling his cloak around himself tighter he pushed Ash along with one hand. He headed towards the Quidditch pitch. Something he knew Ash longed to be able to do again. Seth wanted to play for the house team as well. But he had never had the confidence to try out. Maybe he would this year. Ash would probably make him, if he couldn’t play his friend had to.
”I change my mind,” Seth said, his teeth shattering slightly,”It’s bloody freezing out here!” he said sitting down on the grass next to Ash’s chair in the middle of the Quidditch pitch. He picked at the grass around him, twiddling it in his fingers for a few seconds before discarding it again.
In futile attempt to warm up his hands he sighed his warmish breath onto them, the escaping air heading towards the glass in front of his eyes, steaming the lens slightly. He groaned, and sighed. Whipping the frames from his face he wiped off the condensation. He hated wearing his glasses, his Mum kept him in constant supply of the contact lenses he needed, but at night he couldn’t wear them. He’d already had them in for well over the recommended time, and he still had had work to do.
