Relatives:
None at Hogwarts.

Siblings: Tiffany-May Hazel Jensen (10),
Russell Forest Jensen (7).
Pets:
August really had his heart set on a cat, a big fluffy one that would sit on his lap and generally be his own personal hot water bottle. Instead for his fourteenth birthday his sister got him a rat, with a big pink bow around his middle and strict instructions that he already had a name. That name was Pookie. There’s kind of a love/hate relationship between August and his rat. He feeds Pookie and pets him occasionally, but Pookie seems to have no qualms about peeing in his bed or making a bid for freedom by nose-diving off August’s lap to the floor. All in all August thinks his rat is kind of stupid, but he still loves him anyway.
Wand Type:
Apple, unicorn hair, 9.5 inches. Good at transfiguration, poor at dark arts.

Picture:
Hair Colour:
Brown.
Eye Colour:
Brown
Build:
Slightly on the lanky side.
Skin Tone:
Pale.
Height:
5’11”
Dress Style:
August somehow always manages to look slightly scruffy. He throws together whatever seems to be reasonably clean from his floor and hopes for the best. Clashing colours, rumpled clothing and odd socks usually occur.
Specifics:
While he has no serious scars he always has a few knocks and bruises from his latest clumsy accident.
In Front Of Friends
Sexual Orientation:
Bisexual.
Self Image:
August tries to be a friend to everyone, he tends to pass over people’s negative traits and only focus on the positives of a person or situation. Unusually August’s confidence is not a front to hide insecurities, sure he gets nervous about meeting new people and doing new things, but he almost always decides it’s worth the risk to make a friend or gain a new experience. All in all he doesn’t usually spend a lot of time dwelling on problems, in fact sometimes he brushes off serious topics a little too carelessly.
To the Outward Eye:
When you first lay eyes on August the chances are you’ll have just watched him trip over or drop something. He’s chronically clumsy and disorganised which leaves him looking constantly harried and generally lands him in some kind of scrape of entirely his own making. He’s also a chatterbox with a habit of talking way too fast. Everything he says is spoken with such enthusiasm it’s difficult not to get caught up in it, even when he’s talking about something as mundane rocks (which he isn’t likely to do, but you never know). It’s a rare day indeed to see him without a smile on his face.
Social Status:
August is popular enough. He certainly tries to be nice and friendly to everyone, whether they’re nice and friendly back is another matter, but that doesn’t stop him from trying. His easygoing and chatty nature makes it relatively easy for him to make friends, but that doesn’t mean everybody likes him by far.
Positive Traits:
August is fairly easy going and will show interest in pretty much anything. He‘s quite into music, but doesn‘t play an instruments.
Likes:
His patronus is a dog. Specifically a mutt with one ear turned inside out, it’s fur a patchwork of colours and it‘s tail wagging constantly. While the dog appears alert and willing to jump (or tumble) into action, there is no doubt it’s a mongrel.
Boggart:
While it changes from time to time the general theme of August’s boggart stays the same. He is terrified of horror films and so his boggart always takes the form of whatever monstrous creature August has managed to glimpse in the latest adverts at the cinema.
World Passing By
Subjects:
Transfiguration and Ancient Runes. August likes transfiguration because he finds it relatively easy. It seems to be something he understands with minimum thought and he never tires of practicing the tasks set them in class. Even though he’s barely passing Ancient Runes he likes the challenge and so he works hard to keep his passing grade. He just wishes the class included more wand work and less reading dusty old books.
Potions and Herbology. August is far too clumsy to complete the delicate steps required in potion making and so his potions invariably go disastrously wrong. Consistently burning a hole in the bottom of his supposedly indestructible bottomed cauldrons is bound to get anyone a fail grade. The only reason he doesn’t have a T in the subject is that he’s willing to try hard. He doesn’t like Herbology because he seems to be able to make plants wilt just by looking at them. In truth it’s more likely because he isn’t very good at looking after anything, even potted plants.
History:
August was the first child of Archie and Oleander Jensen. He was supposed to be born in August and his parents had his name picked out accordingly, but he was nearly two weeks late and in the end he had to be forcibly induced. Even though he was technically born in September his parents had their heart set on the name August so that’s what he’s stuck with. Because the birth was a difficult one his parents were reluctant to have any more children and so he spent his first seven years as an only child which suited him perfectly.
He was clumsy even as a young child and so he ended up in the emergency room at hospital more times than most people end up there in their entire lifetime. Most of the time it wasn’t too serious though, a few stitches or a cast and he’d bounce back to enthusiastically exploring anything and everything. At first his parents were worried he wouldn’t take kindly to having siblings as he wouldn’t want to share the attention, but as soon as Tiffany-May was born August took a liking to her and he still dotes on her now. He’s even willing to put up with a rat called Pookie, which he thinks shows devotion above and beyond the call of duty.
His grandparents on his mother’s side were a big part of his childhood and August would spend a lot of time staying with them in the summer months. In particular his grandfather was his hero and so he was immensely proud of being named after him. He took great delight in the magic tricks his grandfather showed him. It wasn’t until later, when he got his acceptance letter to Hogwarts, that he realised these magic tricks were real.
August hadn’t really shown all that much magical ability before, although there are only so many trees a person can fall out of with barely a scratch before it gets a little suspicious. However, both his parents weren’t all that surprised as Oleander had come from a partially magical family anyway (Cuthbert was a wizard and Margaret was a muggle) and she’d shared everything with her husband when they got married. As Oleander hadn’t shown any magical ability they two of them had decided to live as muggles because they didn’t want their children to suffer the same disappointment she had when she never got an acceptance letter.
Everything about Hogwarts was new and exciting for August and he threw himself into life there with complete enthusiasm. Becoming a wizard brought him even closer to his grandfather as Cuthbert was somebody he could turn to when he felt lost or confused about anything magical. Even after over five years of living in the wizarding world August’s enthusiasm still hasn’t worn off and it doesn’t even look like it’s faded.

His easygoing and chatty nature makes it relatively easy for him to make friends, but that doesn’t mean everybody likes him by far.
Positive Traits:
- Friendly - August always has time for a smile and a quick chat with whoever he bumps into (literally). He doesn’t see the harm in being nice to people he doesn’t know, and once he does know them he doesn’t stop being nice as he then counts them as friends.
- Enthusiastic - He has an almost childlike interest in everything. If somebody is willing to put aside the time to explain something he’ll listen attentively. While he isn’t much for research or reading if you catch his attention about a topic you’ll probably manage to keep it with minimum effort.
- Easygoing - August doesn’t see the need to get wound up about obstacles, he has the patience to wait and work his way round a problem with minimum effort. He rarely kicks up a fuss about anything and is quite happy to let other people take the lead while he follows instructions as best he can.
- Confident - August isn’t afraid to speak up or try new things even if he’ll probably fail miserably. He feels he knows his limits and can trust other people enough, which gives him the confidence to do things others might consider risky.
- Positive - He is a glass half full kind of guy, in other words unerringly optimistic. He’ll always point out the good traits about a person or situation and he tends to gloss over the negatives. This doesn’t mean he thinks the world is entirely made of sunshine and rainbows, but he doesn’t think it hurts to look out for them.
- Clumsy - August is about as graceful as a drunken hedgehog trying to fight it’s way out of a sack. He trips over chair legs, stairs and even his own feet all the time. Asking him to carry something delicate is a disaster waiting to happen and don’t expect him to catch or throw anything with any degree of accuracy. He’s been practically banned from riding broomsticks because he lacks the balance and ability needed to fly in a straight line let alone complete any manoeuvres.
- Gullible - He’s gullible almost to the point of being childishly naïve. For this reason it’s ridiculously easy to fool him and most sarcastic humour goes straight over his head because he takes things too literally. If you tell him something August will believe you absolutely, no questions asked.
- Too Trusting - It’s very easy to gain August’s trust. In fact you don’t even really have to do anything, just hang around him long enough to count you as a friend, which takes a surprisingly short amount of time. His trust is almost too easily given and he’s been betrayed because of this before. This doesn’t stop him from befriending them again as he’s a great believer in second, and even third, chances.
- Oblivious - August is kind of sheltered, or rather he shelters himself by refusing to take anything seriously. He doesn’t really keep up with current tensions within the wizarding community, which some people might call foolishly ignorant. He’s also a little oblivious to more subtle emotions in people, he won’t pick up if somebody is upset or angry until it’s too late and they’re crying or shouting.
- Irresponsible - He’s responsibility phobic and really doesn’t like it when people have to rely on him to do something. He likes to be carefree and have the freedom to do what he wants so he tries hard to avoid responsibility of any kind. He can just about take care of Pookie without messing up though.
