Introducing...
Name:
Leopold Evan Turner. But because his real first name embarrasses him, he has everyone call him Leon or Leo.
Age:
26 October, 17
Gender:
Male
Year:
Seventh
Birthplace:
Devon, England – Ottery St. Catchpole
Ethnicity:
Caucasian
Blood:
Half
Relatives:
Parents – Justin Turner & Serinity Lynn Turner
Sister – Lynn Turner (16 – Sixth Year _____ )
Pets:
Ivory: a white and grey, short-haired female tabby with cold goldish-green eyes that always seem to sport a look of irritation. The cat was named after his second cousin who is said to have a similar sour expression, though Leo has yet to actually meet him.
Wand Type:
10” Willow, veela hair
A very swishy wand and especially useful for charm work. His father did not seem too pleased with the fact that he had such a feminine wand, but at least it looks normal. It's got a little design on the handle, and it's a dark brown. He's just glad it's a decent length. He doesn't need any insinuations about his wand length.
The field his wand is horrid at is in physical magic. He's rubbish in transfiguration and anything that involves physical transformation. It is very much a mental wand.
Appearance
Picture:
Hair Colour:
Brown
Eye Colour:
Blue
Build:
Leo has always been on the skinny side. But he’s never been given too much trouble for it due to his height, which more than compensates for his lack in the muscle department. He can be best described as lean and structured.
Skin Tone:
Like both of his parents, Leo has very pale skin that is prone to sunburns. He isn’t agoraphobic or anything, but he just can’t seem to get much color into his complexion.
Height:
6’1”
Dress Style:
Leo doesn’t really like to follow every fashion fad and trend but he doesn’t like to look just thrown together either. Generally even his “hanging around the common room” clothes are more formal than he means them to be. His style is sort of on the preppy side and he is perfectly comfortable in a collared shirt and pressed slacks. He considers it the clothes of a proper gentleman. If he does wear jeans, they have to fit him properly and over the years he has become used to having things tailored for him. He prefers to wear black and dark colors like navy blue and deep crimson. Leo despises yellow.
Specifics:
The most noticeable things about Leo is his height and bright blue eyes (he isn’t entirely sure whether they are his mother’s or his father’s). He is not extremely attractive and some might consider him still in a bit of an awkward stage (height of a man, underdeveloped build of a teen). It is seldom that he smiles completely. He carries himself in a bizarrely reserved way, which makes him seem more serious than he is. He carries himself with the attitude of someone much older than he actually is. It is important to him that others see him as dignified and self contained. There’s no space for messy emotional conflict in his life.
In Front Of Friends
Sexual Orientation:
Heterosexual
Self Image:
Leo can be a little vain. He cares a lot about how people see him, especially older people. He’s never felt especially attracted to girls his own age either. For the most part he deems them more trouble then they’re worth. It’s really a compliment to tell him that he acts like someone twice his age (though he shudders at the concept of looking it). In private or with close friends, he isn’t nearly as self-conscious and ridiculously self-involved as he is around others. But even just bringing one unfamiliar person into the equation is enough to make him put up his social barriers. There are a lot of things that he doesn’t like about himself, which is why he tries to act like people that he admires instead. He can’t stand how insecure he is in his own shoes but pretending that he’s the carbon copy of an adult he looks up to is the best way he knows to cope.
To the Outward Eye:
To the outward eye, Leo probably seems a bit like a self-absorbed snob. He is very hard to get to know and he hates meaningless small talk. He’d prefer to be spoken to directly and hates it when people “beat around the bush” and won’t be honest with him about what they really want from him. To mask his inferiority complex he tends to act more confident and sure of his actions than he really is. But for all his posturing, it is actually pretty easy to manipulate him into doing something if he values your opinion. However, he isn’t entirely stupid. Leo knows when he’s being shamelessly used and can secretly hold a grudge until the end of time. He may not do anything about it, but he’s not above letting sensitive information slip if he feels that he’s been personally wronged. Like his father, he has a deceptive smile and a talent for saying one thing convincingly to someone and thinking something entirely different. Overall, he is not a bad person. He can be very kind to the people he cares for. But it’s a little bit more difficult to see his good qualities because he is just a very difficult person to know. There are only a select few allowed into his inner circle of trust.
Social Status:
Leo is a follower who longs to be a leader. He doesn’t really have the courage to aggressively push his agenda just yet. One of the things he fears the most is social stigma. It’s important to him that he is liked and respected and so he goes along with a lot of things that he ordinarily wouldn’t if he were all on his own. He is a social chameleon and tries not to make waves with the wrong people. Generally he only attacks someone if he feels they have threatened him first. Once that bridge has been crossed, all bets are off.
Positive Traits:
Negative Traits:
Skills:
It’s kind of lame but Leo’s good at studying. He has a very good memory and so classes like charms and potions run fairly smooth for him. He also has a way with animals. He’s very quiet and often calm so they usually either ignore him or take comfort in his presence. It’s not really a gift, he just doesn’t register as a threat so they aren’t hostile toward him.
Likes:
Dislikes:
Patronus:
a Lynx: He's extremely private, and mostly prefers to keep to himself. He's strong, but not in the way that most guys are. He always looks a bit out of place.
Boggart:
Leon’s boggart is his father, whom he has always felt vastly inferior to. He secretly fears that he has and never will be proud of him nor will he ever feel anything remotely like love towards him.
World Passing By

Report:
How the professors feel about Leon is a pretty even split. While some consider him mature beyond his years and admire his discipline, others find his reserved and rather frigid personality off putting. They wish he would behave a bit less full of himself and demonstrate modesty rather than silently (yet obviously) showing off.
Personal Statement:
Leon enjoys subjects that he is good at and tries, almost obsessively, to become the best at them. He demonstrates similar enthusiasm for the subjects he is not so good at but only because he doesn’t wish for anyone to rub his inferiority in his face. He cannot stand being second best to anyone, though he tries not to let on how delicate his pride is and how easily his ego is bruised.
There is little space in his father’s heart for second or third place (from his perspective) and so Leo has always tried his hardest, even in classes that bore him to tears. In reality, there isn’t much stress placed upon him either at home or school, but what he perceives is that his father feels that directly pushing him in any one direction is a lost cause. Leo is really his own worst critic.
History:
Leon and his sister had a pretty average childhood. Though their parents seemed as different as night and day, things seemed to always work out. Justin and Serinity rarely argued in front of the kids, hoping to give the two a better upbringing than the one their father had received. But seeing the similarity between his son and himself, Justin had difficulty dishing out the same affection that he so easily gave to his daughter. No matter how hard he tried, all Justin could see was his father’s spitting image reflected back at him.
Taking his father’s behavior the wrong way, Leon assumed that his father just didn’t think he was worthy of his attentions. So at a young age, he became very competitive and ever conscious of the way others perceived him. He felt he was nothing if he were not the best so he tried to at least appear pleasant to all, on a superficial level at least. As he grew older, all he could be aware of was his own image. His was always wondering what others really thought of him and whether or not they were really worth trusting at all. As a result of this, he really only had a few close friends and they mainly consisted of the ones he lived closest to.
He had absolutely no exposure to muggle children, so all he knew of them was what others told him of them. So his opinion is that they are all rather unrefined and wizardry-phobic. But he by no means considers them unworthy of existence or anything of that crazy sort. His parents were careful to raise him not to hate things that are different from himself, neither parent wishing to see the ugliness of the past repeated.
Due to his difficult to properly read personality, the only person who really understands what’s going on in Leo’s head is his sister Lynn. He considers her a rival for their father’s attention but is also extremely over-protective of her. He has gone through great lengths to keep boys away from her, even so far as to spread rumors about her and give her the wrong advice about boys in general.
Roleplay Sample:
Leon stared at the doors on the other end of the great hall. One would have thought he was waiting for his crush but anyone who really knew him would know otherwise. Leon Turner had no time for such things, not when he had a younger sister to “look out” for. As the female version of himself entered the large, spacious hall he growled and stared in annoyance at the cloudless sky-ceiling above him. So she had managed to get that gum out of her hair after all.
And now his friends would look at her, as they always did. It was like clockwork practically. These days it seemed as if preserving the honor of one’s own sister was as difficult as passing one’s OWLs with all O’s. “Watch out now, Sis” he muttered without warning as she passed him, his foot jutting out before she passed him by. Unfortunately she managed to see his attempt at humiliation coming and narrowly avoided with a graceful hop over his long leg.
Tossing her a nasty glare, he stared down at his food and pushed the eggs from one corner of his plate to another. His dark brown hair fell over his eyes and in irritation he brushed it back, paying little attention as a group of girls walked past. He had no interest or time for them at all today. But when one of the more attractive ones stayed behind and lingered beside the place where he sat, his eyes were as cold as ever despite the faint red that spread like wildfire across his cheeks.

He is a social chameleon and tries not to make waves with the wrong people. Generally he only attacks someone if he feels they have threatened him first. Once that bridge has been crossed, all bets are off.
Positive Traits:
- Disciplined: Leo is not the most academically gifted student to grace the halls of Hogwarts. But he’s not too shabby. He was raised to acknowledge the saying that there is and always will be at least one person (if you’re lucky) that is better than you. For this reason, Leo works very hard at school. When he is studying, it is difficult to steal his attention. He attacks most challenges with single-minded determination.
- Quick-witted: Letting someone have it with a straight-to-the-gut insult is one thing that Leo is not ashamed to admit he enjoys a lot. Call it pent up anger, misplaced rage. If someone hurts him, he likes to be able to retaliate immediately and he has grown rather competent at coming up with “low blows” on the spot. His anger unleashed is similar to Pandora’s box.
- Well-read: Because books are often less argumentative than people. Leo has become rather fond of him. Something about being lost in the pages of literature makes Leo feel more relaxed and at peace. He can usually be found reading if something has stressed him out. At home, he has read just about all the books in his father’s study.
- Charismatic: Leo’s an expert at saying one thing and meaning another. He is almost always polite, while speaking at least, and tries to put his best foot forward when meeting someone new. He’s the type who comes off looking better than what he really is. It’s only once you get past the fake smiles and forced manners that one can really begin to see the duplicity of Leon’s personality.
- Organized: Leon hates clutter, both physical and mental. He tries to keep everything together in his own way. In the back of his mind he likes to form strict rules of conduct for himself. His room is rarely left in disarray and he doesn’t like to speak before he knows the score of things. Control of himself and his environment is very important to him so there are few things that he will do in haste.
Negative Traits:
- Self-absorbed: Leo is often more concerned with how things will affect his appearance before considering the state of others. He is not devoid of sensitivity but he has trained himself to ignore the plight of others unless they are in mortal danger. Past experiences have hardened him and he thinks that girls who cry too much are drama queens and men who can’t pull their stuff together and allow others to see their weaknesses are possibly undeserving of any respect at all. Because he is so used to keeping others at an arm’s distance, Leon lacks adequate empathy. His expectations of others may be a little too high.
- Too reserved: He’s sometimes a stick in the mud. He doesn’t want to get his hands dirty and the behavior of his peers often embarrasses him.
- Misses the big picture: So busy making sure he has no visible flaws, Leo misses out on the things others gain by allowing people in. He has very few really good friends and constantly finds himself alone when he really does desire the opposite (deep down).
- Inferiority complex: Nothing he does will ever be good enough because he considers himself forever eclipsed by the academic achievements of his father. He is frequently frustrated and often lashes out at those closest to him by saying that they aren’t good enough for him. Instead of blaming himself openly for his shortcomings, he finds it easier to pawn it off on anyone else, though he knows this behavior to be ridiculous.
- Emotionally dishonest: Never one to openly display weaknesses, Leo never speaks what’s exactly on his mind. He’d rather shoulder the burden on his own. This makes it very hard to get close to him. He just doesn’t want to leave himself open to betrayal.
Likes:
- Quiet: He hates things and people who are loud and always looking to pick a fight. Leo gets quickly agitated if he can’t find a peaceful place. He carries a lot more stress than he lets on.
- Books: Because they don’t argue with him and they provide him with knowledge without being a pain about it. Plus, reading them makes him feel slightly smarter than the average teen.
- Older/Mature Women: Not like granny or anything. Leon wants to date someone he can respect and not feel like he’s just babysitting. Girls who do that baby-talk thing drive him up the wall. He is far more attracted to strength and intelligence rather than beautiful face and empty head. But mind you, he’s not above using someone like the latter. They’re just not the type he’d like to make a commitment to.
- Home-cooked meals: His mom cooks for him and his sis all the time, so when he comes to Hogwarts it takes him awhile to adjust to food that just magically appears to him. It actually kind of creeps him out a bit and every once in awhile he has nightmares about them trying to poison him or cart off to put in a stew.
- Cats: He likes how they don’t need you to do every little thing for them. He likes to consider himself somewhat similar, minus the fleas.
Dislikes:
- Scrapbooks/Scrapbooking: When he was younger his mother used to make him put together those hideous scrapbooks with the stickers and colored pieces of paper and scissors that don’t cut in even, straight lines. So he hates them now and photo albums in general make him cringe unless they are the really plain types.
- Loud Women: They drive him nuts and he thinks they’re usually pretty undereducated. Mostly he just doesn’t like to be argued with. So women who refuse to let him have the last word really rub him the wrong way.
- Women who don’t wear make-up: Leon thinks that a woman who doesn’t care too much about her appearance is probably sloppy in other ways also. Most older women seem to wear make-up and so he has in some misguided way begun to associate foundation, powders, and lipstick with sophistication.
- Smoking: It makes people smell bad. Smelly people equals gross people. And bad teeth and fingernails. Leon can be a major health freak too.
- Disorganization: Messy spaces are one of Leon’s biggest pet peeves. He believes there should be a space set aside for everything and anything that is without a place shouldn’t be kept.
Patronus:
a Lynx: He's extremely private, and mostly prefers to keep to himself. He's strong, but not in the way that most guys are. He always looks a bit out of place.
Boggart:
Leon’s boggart is his father, whom he has always felt vastly inferior to. He secretly fears that he has and never will be proud of him nor will he ever feel anything remotely like love towards him.
