Meet Rico
A loyal companion since she was three years old, Rico is often the most talkative parrot in town. He'll only quiet down when he knows Kristen needs her space to grade papers, plan lessons, or whatever. Her father acquired him from an old friend who could no longer take care of him for whatever reason, and gave the scarlet macaw to Kristen as a birthday present. Her mother had a fit the minute she saw the "infernal bird" near her daughter, but they became fast friends and her mother consented. Being a macaw, Rico can live up to seventy-five years, although a more common lifespan is 30-50 years. But no matter how much time he's got, Rico will always be an important, fond, and well-loved friend to Kristen.
Wand Type:
Thirteen and a quarter inches, cedar and dragon heartstring. This wand is not extremely flexible, but it is durable, meaning it won't be damaged easily. It is mainly ideal for defensive spells. However, it is not appropriate for healing spells. It is proficient in simple magic, such as charms.
Appearance
Picture:
Hair Colour:
Blonde
Eye Colour:
Lagoon blue. They appear sky blue when she's not wearing heavy eye make-up.
Build:
Thin, but shapely and somewhat muscular.
Skin Tone:
Tan/peach
Height:
5' 6"
Dress Style:
When she's not teaching, Kristen dresses rather humbly, often wearing neutral colors such as white, black, and gray. She tends to favor plain blouses and shorts/pants, depending on the weather. Her hair is usually neatly and simply organized into a ponytail or bun, but she has been known to wear it down as well. Her favorite materials are cotton, denim, and khaki. Surprisingly, she hates wool.
During class/school hours, she dresses in robes (dark blue) with relatively high collars and bell sleeves. She wears heels way too often in the classroom/Astronomy tower, a habit of hers.
Specifics:
Aside from being a striking blonde beauty, Kristen tends to dress less extravagantly than many people. She's not a big fan of the "perfect hair, perfect clothes, perfect make-up" philosophy that so many women her age respect. Not to say she doesn't dress appropriately, just simpler. And she usually always has an animal at her side, whether it be her beloved Rico or one of the many creatures who reside in her office.
In Front Of Friends
Sexual Orientation:
Heterosexual, thank you.
Self Image:
How does your character think about him/herself? Do they like who they are? Do they wish they could be different somehow? At least a paragraph as this is an important glimpse into your character’s mind.
To the Outward Eye:
How other people perceive your character? Remember you can’t actually decide how other peoples characters will react to yours. This is more about the first impressions your character might give, will they come off as moody or standoffish when meeting someone for the first time? Or would they project a confident air to the world. At least a paragraph here also.
Social Status:
Popular/out cast? A paragraph describing your characters social status please. Are they the type to have a lot of friends, or maybe just one of two close friends. Would they be friendly to everyone they meet or are they picky about who they chose to associate with?
Positive Traits:
Post at least five positive character traits here, and explain them. This is the section that helps most when it comes to sorting the characters into houses so please be detailed! Thinking up traits can be tricky so try this site and this one for a little help. If you’ve a star sign for your character another good idea is to research this sign and see what traits people born under it generally have. Remember we are looking for several lines of description for each trait, this is were you show us who your character really is.
Negative Traits:
Post at least five negative character traits here, and explain them. Same advice as for positive traits. =)
Skills:
Likes:
Dislikes:
At least five dislikes here, preferably with descriptions/reasons, unless it's something likemarmite peanut butter, because everyone loves marmite marmite, because that stuff is foul!
Patronus:
A monk seal. Aside from it being an endangered species, Kristen finds them rather adorable. As a young child, she often visited zoos and aquariums, and the monk seal is one of her favorite marine mammals.
Boggart:
A Muggle hunter/poacher/animal fur dealer. Being a huge animal rights activist in the Muggle world, she can't stand the sight of animals being tortured, killed, abused, etc.
World Passing By
Subject Taught:
Astronomy
Teaching Style:
Kristen believes in a... Less practical approach to teaching, shall we say. Her macaw Rico is always present during lessons. She's not too fond of classrooms and prefers being in less traditional learning surroundings. Her students, she assumes, must also enjoy being in the astronomy tower for an entire period, rarely ever having to copy down notes and sit at a desk. Sometimes, she even takes her classes for an impromptu "field trip" to the Quidditch pitch or the Black Lake, and, with Headmistress McGonagall's permission, to Hogsmeade. (The friendlier areas, of course, such as Honeyduke's.) Generally, these trips either pertain to the lesson plan or they're rewards for an excellent, well-behaved class. Kristen tends to go light on the homework, and she's a pretty fair grader on assignments.

Skills:
- Registered Animagus. She gained the ability at the age of twenty-one, after two years of training and practicing. She can transform into a Eurasian lynx, which is a medium-sized wild cat. A major contrast to her vegetarian eating habits. However, she avoids hunting and eating prey while in her Animagus form. Since Kristen is registered, it's no secret to anyone that she's an Animagus. The Eurasian lynx's appearance can be found here.
- Multilingual. She can speak English, German, and Swedish. (She's not extremely fluent in the last two.)
- Plays the piano/keyboard. She loves playing just about anything, especially classical.
- Sings. Her range is alto-soprano. Very wide, enabling her to sing a variety of tunes.
Likes:
- Animals. Kristen is an avid animal rights supporter in the Muggle world, and she knows a great deal about them. Hey, she got an O in Care of Magical Creatures back when she was a student.
- Astronomy. It was her best and most favorite subject at school. She's always been fascinated with stars, constellations, planets, everything.
- Music. She grew up with it, among other things. She loves to sing (alto-soprano), and play the piano like her father.
- Fruits and vegetables. A vegetarian since the age of eleven, Kristen has always protested eating meat. Truth be told, she finds it rather disgusting. The thought of eating animal carcasses extremely frightens her.
- Simplicity. Sure, she pays attention to detail, but it's not a major aspect of her life. She prefers things simple, easy to access, and enjoyable.
- Teaching. Another obvious one. Why else would she have agreed to return to Hogwarts and teach? It's another one of her many passions.
- Heights. Kristen enjoys that rush of adrenaline from being in high or elevated places. She loves teaching on the seventh floor, naturally. To add to that, Kristen also wishes she were a bit taller.
