Cassie giggled, standing as close to Ed as was humanly possible without literally melting into him. The thought of Ed being responsible for anything, let alone a large collection of alcohol was a strange concept. It was amusing too, considering their track record when it came to causing trouble back at school. It gave her a little pang of sadness though, as she realised there was a lot she didn’t know about him now.
”Look at you being all responsible,” She teased, unable to keep the grin off her face for long. “Spoil sport.” Things were far from mended between them, but Cassie couldn’t help feeling ridiculously happy just to be near to him. And the damn customers were ruining it all, one little break wasn’t nearly long enough, she’d happily stay glued to his side for the rest of the day. She turned to shoot a particularly venomous glare at a man that looked like he was about to return to the bar for a refill.
Cassie let him take her hand and lead her over to a nearby table, trying desperately not to think about the way Dacian had done the exact same thing to her a little under a week ago. Not that she would mind a similar outcome between her and Ed, but thinking about Dacian made her feel guilty all over again. ”Please.” She said with a nod, having to sit down rather sharply in her chair to stop herself trailing after him like a love-struck puppy.
She waited for him to sit down, accepting her drink gratefully, then slouched down in he seat so she could prop her feet up on his lap. Just looking a him wasn’t enough, she needed constant contact. The burn of whiskey hit her throat and Cassie gave a small pathetic cough, she’d never been that good at stomaching the strong liquor but she needed the liquid courage for what she was going to say next. If she wanted Ed to trust her again she’d have to be honest from the start.
That was exactly what this was, a new beginning and this time she couldn’t afford to fuck it up. ”Ed,” She said softly, staring down into the amber liquid rather than meeting his eyes. When it came to the subject of Dacian all her courage seemed to melt away. ”After you kicked Dacian out…” The smallest of frowns creased her brow, still disapproving of the way Ed had hurt the vampire. ”He came to my room and he’s been staying with me. I thought you should know.” God, why was she even admitting it? There was a good chance it would throw them right back off track again. [/font]
