OK! I wrote this like three months ago and I know It took place 25 years ago, but here goes nothin'
Sigh.
Alone in the common room. Again. She was sitting at a table, finishing a Potions essay by the dim light of the fire. There were ink blots on all over it. She had been in the library before, but because people had kept distracting her, Alexi moved to the safety and peace of the Slytherin common room. She was rolling it up, promising herself she would finish it later when she noticed something; the common room was not empty.
Draco Malfoy sat a few yards away. A book that looked just a little like Advanced Potion Making was open in front of him. Probably finishing the essay, the same essay I was working on. Stop it, I told myself. He’s in your Potions class. Okay, she had to say this now. She really, really, really liked Draco Malfoy. She watched as he rolled up the essay, placed it in his bag and began to walk—Alexi realized with a jolt—towards her!
God he’s cute, was her only thought has he sat down next to her. To speak truth, they were quite close. This small fact sent tingles up her arms, legs and cheeks, turning them a bright, rosy-red. Draco noticed this and laughed. She could honestly say she has never seen this side of him before. So light, un-hostile and positively, almost…romantic. He scooted just a wee bit closer and, before she could stop herself, leaned in for a kiss she could not hold back.
At first, Draco’s eyes were wide with surprise. Then they softened as he responded. Now her eyes were wide when she realized how good of a kisser he actually was. They were so close that it was no longer separate chairs. If this is what heaven was like, than she wanted to stay there forever. Draco put his arms around her waist and Alexi did the same, only around his neck. Oh my. Amazing could describe this in one word. Still she was scared that this was all a dream, that in a few moments she would wake. But in those few moments she was dreading, they ended up on the floor as the ferocity of that one simple kiss increased. They were now so close that if one were to look down upon the scene, they would not be able to tell head from tail. And she was perfectly happy with that.
Finally, as the clock struck eleven, we broke apart. Draco was looking at her, fondness etched too deep in his eyes for her to see. “Alexi,” he whispered, adding to the mood of the moment. “Only now do I realize I will never love anything as much as I love you now.” Wow. That put the icing on the cake. No this had to be a dream. Draco Malfoy would never say anything like that. But then she came to her senses to realize; this was no dream. And for the first time in both of their lives we had our first love. Real, true, pure love. “The same to you. You know I did actually go out with Blaise Zabini for a while. Now I realize you are so much better. I just never though I would be so close to anyone in my life. What will your parents think? You know I’m not pure.” Draco closed the inch of space left between them. “They won’t care. Bellatrix likes you, and Mother. You know, you even look a bit like us.” Would it be? Could it be? Alexi knew Pansy Parkinson would not be happy. This was a quick and brief thought that she forgot almost the moment it came through. Then and there, in the still dying embers of the fire, they fell asleep, soft warm beds completely forgotten.
The next day was fun to take on. Pansy was, indeed, very mad. This only made her smile. When the bell rang for break, Alexi didn’t even say “hi” just huggled Draco as hard as she could. It made him blush but she didn’t care and could tell he didn’t either, though he was only showing it on the outside. They went to classes together. In fact, they went everywhere together. Something was still very strange. Crabbe and Goyle have not been seen since last night. But she was too content to care. Everyone was shocked at this surprising relationship and it was common gossip in the castle. Harry, Ron and Hermione were the most shocked of all seeing as the trio was my best friend and all three positively loathed Draco. The first time they saw them together, their jaws dropped almost in unison.
Even she could hardly believe the strength of the bond they had. Four years she had been looking for someone to share her life with, she just never thought it would be with the one that all of the Gryffindors hated. And only because she was friends with the three widely know Gryffindors, she was technically one of them. Hermione was the only one out of the trio that had the courage to talk to her.
Alexi was sitting at dinner one night (does she even need to mention who she was with?) when Hermione came up to her. “Um Alexi, I really, well, we really need to talk to you.” Curious, she abandoned her shepherd’s pie and followed her to the Gryffindor table. Harry and Ron sat there with very intimidated expressions. Alexi could not see why. As she sat down, Alexi became suddenly aware that all eyes at that table were on her. After a long silence, Ron burst out, “what do you see in him?!” Taken aback, she stared at him for a few minutes, then said, “What you obviously don’t. We-are-in-love! You are the only people who actually have a problem with it.” Hermione stood up. Now she wanted to talk to her? Alexi stood up with her and, without a word, went into the entrance hall. “Please tell me. How did this happen.” So then and there she found herself gushing out what had happened that night, every little detail. One word Alexi could read from Hermione’s expression was, wow. “Yeah, I know. Sappy, huh?” She could only nod in agreement. “It’s so hard,” she whispered. “To picture him in that kind of mood. How did you do it?” With a tremendous sigh, Alexi explained the weird kind of pull she had felt.
That seemed to push Hermione off the edge. She half-ran to the Great Hall, probably to tell Harry and Ron what Alexi had just told her. She didn’t even try to stop her because she knew that that particular secret would be safe within the trio. Sighing, Alexi returned to the hall.
You can probably point out a few places where there needs to be italics but I'll add those in later. Please comment!
