The entire time that the Gryffindor was going off on him, Cassian just stood there.. as silent and solid as a rock. His anger was steadily growing, and yet he remained as calm on the outside as if nothing were bothering him. The only thing that was giving him away was a slightly malicious gleam that had begun to snake through his brown eyes. So this was Roxanne's cousin, eh? This meant he was either a Weasley or a Potter. The Potters made his stomach churn.. they were the product of a filthy, disgustingly famous half blooded wizard. His father had told him that while yes, Harry Potter had apparently free the world of Voldemort, he was a right angsty git. "A cousin.. That explains everything. Do tell me, are you a Weasley or a Potter?"
He knew this kid was getting pretty pissed.. and it somewhat amused him even though Cassian was getting angry himself. He was so amused because the Gryffindor was obviously having a harder time keeping his temper in check. It was going to get him in serious trouble one day, if it hadn't already. It wasn't until he was called a twat that Cassian felt the need to reach out and grasp onto Hugo's collar casually. There was no harsh violence within this gesture, but there was definitely a heavy threatening air as Cassian opened his mouth to speak again. "Once again, you are advised to not speak of things in which you know nothing about. I believe it is your cousin Roxanne who is the one who doesn't stay away from me."
After a few moments of staring Hugo right in the eye, he let go of his collar. Cassian wouldn't put it past this kid to yank out a wand.. and as much as Cassian didn't want to go down this route, he would. Cassian was different than most Slytherins in the respect that he didn't just yank out his wand whenever he felt threatened. "Are you finished making yourself look like a complete tosser?"

"Weasley, through and through," Hugo said proudly, puffing out his chest again. He didn't see what it mattered, but he would take any opportunity to throw his name around. He suddenly found himself in Cassian's loose grasp, the mildest hint of menace apparent in the gesture. Breathing a little too rapidly, Hugo tried to squirm away. His mum had warned him that his temper was going to get him into serious trouble if he didn't contain it. He closed his eyes and wondered if he could reach his wand fast enough to live through this encounter with the taller and older Slytherin.
But instead of hitting him, the other boy simply talked about Roxanne. Hugo stared at him in surprise. What on earth did that mean? Roxie wasn't that bad, was she? Sometimes Lucy made barbed comments but she usually earned a sharp look from James or Fred for her trouble. Hugo had never believed that Roxie actually, well, put herself about as much as people said she did.
Looking faintly confused, he hardly heard Cassian's question, and when he spoke, his voice was calm and curious. "What do you mean, she won't stay away from you?"

So he was a Weasley. Cassian supposed that wasn't nearly as bad. The Weasley family were at least purebloods... well, wait, he took back his own thoughts. If he could recall correctly, Cassian seemed to remember his father saying something about one of Harry Potter's best friends, Ron Weasley marrying a mudblood.. and as far as Cassian was concerned, that was even worse than being a halfblood. He found himself wondering which Weasley this one spawned from. Cassian eyed the younger student for a moment before grinning. He was curious to see how much this kid's parents talked.. if they did as much as Cassian's father had. "Weasley.. No matter any how. The entire Weasley family seems a bit too corrupted. Rather shameful they used to all be purebloods... Tell me, Weasley. Have your parents ever mentioned the respectable and pure name of Zabini?"
At the question of what he meant when he mentioned Roxanne, Cassian nearly stepped back. The Gryffindor looked confused.. but at least he was a bit more calm now. He was beginning to suspect that most Weasleys really didn't have a lot between their ears other than air. "Let's just say that's none of your business.. but for the sake of your dumb curiosity and your obvious high opinion of your cousin, I will tell you that she really likes having fingers snaking through her hair.."

"No, funnily enough. Your amazing family are not quite well known enough to be mentioned in my house..." Hugo spat. He was deeply offended by the idea. His family were famous, and they didn't talk about the likes of these people, he was sure. This idiot was stepping above his station, in his opinion. "But evidently you've heard of my family," Hugo drawled tauntingly, "much as you probably aren't interested in hearing what good, tolerant people do with their lives, it's a bit hard to escape some people's escapades and sacrifices." He lifted his chin proudly. This was something else that everyone knew. Long ago, before Hugo had even been born, the Weasleys had suffered, had lost one of their own to the cause. And woe betide anyone who forgot it.
He was somewhat less sure of himself when it came to Roxanne's adventures. He knew she liked to have plenty of boys around but there was no harm in that... was there? He winced at the image Cassian suggested. This big... fop in front of him, running his hands through lovely Roxie's hair. No, he didn't like that idea at all, and he didn't like what was being implied. His eyes narrowed, but his temper did not rise. He didn't really know what kind of territory he was getting into. "You're sick..." he said.

This kid was so arrogant that it was irritating. It was one thing if arrogance was earned, but in Cassian's opinion, this little runt had absolutely no merit whatsoever. Resisting the urge to roll his eyes, Cassian merely stared at him sternly. Whatever, let him stew in his own egotistical thoughts. It really made no difference to Cassian either way, as long as his concepts didn't soak through to Roxanne. Shrugging his broad shoulders, Cassian took a few more steps away from Hugo. "How like the Weasley's my father told me about.. All bark with no merit, and more than likely no bite." Cassian offered a small smile that had the word asshole spread across his lips.
He had to admit that he was pretty damn amused now at the entire line of conversation involving Roxanne. Cassian could actually see the seeds of doubt planting themselves into Hugo's mind. It was plastered all over the young Weasley's face as plainly as the day. "Sick, am I?" At this point, all Cassian really wanted to do was to torture Hugo with thoughts of improper things about his cousin. "We'll see who's sick when you're walking down the hallways and you see your dear sweet Roxanne on my arm." Oh how Cassian wished. He knew it was probably a far cry from the truth, but it didn't keep him from talking.
After a few moments of letting it gestate, Cassian reached over and draped his finger tip through the whipped topping off of a pie that was cooling on the counter for dinner later on. Brown eyes stared at the sweetness on his finger before reaching over and rubbing it across Hugo's cheek. "I'd love to stay and chat but your presence is seriously starting to offend my nostrils."

”You know nothing about my family's merits!” Hugo spat. ”My parents are famous throughout the wizarding world for the things they did during the war! You can laugh as much as you want-- we practically run the ministry these days!” He was being childish, and he knew it, but Hugo could not resist wheeling his family's power out on display. It was fairly close to truth. His uncle Harry was running the auror department, with his dad at his side, while his mum was one of the most influential law-makers in their world. Add to this his uncle Percy, who was now in politics, and Ted Lupin (considered family by Weasley and Potter alike) who also worked at something high-up, and there were few places that the Weasley's powerful tentacles did not extend to.
He crossed his arms and stared down the Slytherin, trying desperately not to lose his temper in the face of his talking about Roxie. It was all just bravado, Hugo was sure. Just bragging. Not true. His hands balled into fists and he forced his fingers to uncurl. ”I doubt I'll see that, mate. She's got taste, my cousin.”
He was undeniably furious, but it wasn't until Cassian decided to smear whipping cream onto Hugo's face that he truly saw red. He wanted to draw his wand and vanish the cream, but he did not trust himself to hold a wand in his hand with his temper at flashpoint. It would not be totally unheard of for Hugo to attempt a hex and accidentally produce a dangerous or damaging spell effect because he was too angry to focus properly. He wanted to hurt Cassian, but not permanently or seriously, and he could not be sure of himself at this moment in time. He inhaled deeply, and wiped his cheek with his sleeve. ”I'll get you for this...” he muttered darkly. ”When you least expect it. Consider yourself warned.”

At this point, Cassian was just seriously tired of dealing with this immature Weasley child. He wondered how, in a sea of extremely messed up Weasley's, that Roxanne came out to be normal and respectable. Cassian most definitely was not going to complain about this, but he knew that in order to spend more time with Roxanne, he was probably going to have to learn to deal with the disgusting sort. Very briefly, Cassian toyed with the thought as to whether or not Roxanne was even worth it.
"Yes, she does have taste.." Cassian smirked, dark eyes trailing across Hugo and realizing exactly how angered the Gryffindor was becoming. It was really rather amusing. "And that is why she is the only Weasley who is in Slytherin in the first place. It really is amusing how little you know about your own cousin."
At Hugo's next words, Cassian had to laugh. It was a low, soft, but still somehow rather obnoxious set of laughter. His eyes twinkled with amusement, reaching out to patronizingly pat Hugo on the shoulder even though he really didn't want to touch him. "Alright, Weasley.. You're talking to the master of thoughtful tactics and planning. You, on the other hand.. just seem rather thoughtless." With those last words, Cassian removed his hand from Hugo's shoulder and turned to leave the kitchens. He did not get to finish making his sandwich but he'd wasted so much time with Hugo here that it was close to dinner anyways.
