Aiden blanched again. In Ashley's hand was that horrible poem. He was blushing. Aiden felt sick. What must Ashley think? Sure, his mood was kind but still, this was horrible.
"That's a mistake." Aiden got to his feet. "I didn't mean it. I wrote it because I like you. NOT IN THAT WAY!" Aiden looked around the common room. No one was around. Thank goodness. He was ready to freak out. "I don't even like boys. I never have. Never will. I like girls. I wrote that because my brain sometimes can't tell the difference between like and love. I'm having relapses." Aiden felt that was a good enough but still now good enough.
He started to pick up his books. "I need to go. We can finish this later. Not the poem. The study session. I'll come back when I get my head screwed on better."
Rosencrantz squawked a bit as Aiden got up because the chain on the bird's foot was being pulled. That was the least Rosencrantz may get once he and Aiden were alone. "Blasted bird!" Aiden's books slipped from his hand onto the floor but that didn't matter. He had to pick up the bird from Aiden's lap.
Aiden carefully reached into Ashley's lap and felt the tingles of another relapse coming on.
"DAMN IT! NOT NOW!" He shouted at himself. Aiden really hated himself sometimes.

Everything happened so fast that for the first few moments, Ashley was just blinking up at the older Hufflepuff. He took this a lot harder than he had expected and the blonde wondered whether or not he should hold him back. Hug him, perhaps, though he was slightly apprehensive, in case the other would really blow up on him and end up hurting him physically.
”I know you don’t. Aiden, don’t worry about it” Well that was a completely pointless phrase. Of course Aiden would worry about it. It was completely embarrassing and humiliating to be in this situation, and nothing that the younger boy could say would make it any less horrible. ”You don’t have to leave. I’m not going to make fun of you for that poem, and I’m not thinking that you have some weird crush on me.” His voice was as calm and reasonable as he could possibly be in the circumstance.
Having the pet on his lap made Aiden lean in and he felt tempted to circle the boys wrist with his hand, instead just leaning in to slightly touch his fingers against the boys palm for a moment. ”You don’t have to leave, Aiden.” He repeated it softly, giving him a look, hoping that the other would know he was being honest.

"I do have to leave." Aiden grumbled. He could see no logical way to get himself out of this mess. It didn't seem to matter what Ashley was saying and now he was feeling tingly. Bad tingly. And Rosencrantz wasn't cooperating at all. He nipped at Aiden's fingers so he couldn't remove him from Ashey's lap. "I have a million other things I need to be doing right now. I can't stay and chat any longer."
Whatever Ashley was saying about not thinking that Aiden had a weird crush on him. That word, "weird" almost felt like a dagger in Aiden's soul. He'd feel it later but right now the tinglies were in control. As he had his hands in an awfully suggestable place and he could fell the air from Ashley's lips on his neck, Aiden was losing it big time.
He stopped fumbling for Rosencrantz and looked up at Ashley's face. He was so close to the boy and Aiden thought he was a very good looking boy. He had been through so much and he deserved love. Aiden could give him love. That was the curse speaking. Aiden wasn't in control of his actions at all.
He suddenly, but gently, held the back of Ashley's head and leaned in to kiss Ashley right on the lips. Some tongue might have come out as well. Aiden's jinxed tongue was getting very frisky.

To say that he wasn’t in the least bit tempted to kiss back would be a lie. Aiden was very attractive, he was nice and completely sweet and Ashley loved spending time with him. But. He didn’t like him like that and even though he didn’t see anything wrong in enjoying a snog with a cute boy once in a while, he knew better than to get into this. He would be taking advantage of Aidens situation, of the curse that was still haunting him.
Placing a hand gently on Aidens chest, Ash broke the kiss, looking up at the older Hufflepuff. ”Please don’t take this the wrong way, but we both know this isn’t right. Like you said, you like me, but not like that.” He cared too much about the other boy to let him do this, to let him make a fool out of himself like this. It was hard enough that he was suffering relapses, and to add snogging a boy when you were straight really didn’t make this any better.
The blonde wondered if there was anything he could say to convince Aiden that he wasn’t going to make fun of him or worse, pity him. The last thing he wanted was for the other to be so humiliated that he ran away and never wanted to speak to Ash again. ”If you want to take a break from studying, we could get a drink from the kitchens.” He was iffy about letting the other go off on his own, especially if he was suffering so much.
