Her response only encouraged him, and he was soon struggling very hard to hold back. Any more desperate and he’d be biting into her lip on purpose. The way they fuelled each other was intoxicating. The kiss was snowballing, the deeper and more passionate it became, the more it escalated and grew into something bordering on frantic. His hand shook with the effort not to crush their mouths too closely together, but the harder he tried, the harder it became. All his attention was on her mouth, trying with brute force to break down what control he had over this that it could. He’d have the break the kiss, or direct his energy elsewhere before blood was spilt. The vampire was not as hungry for her blood as he had been earlier in the night, but she would scare her if he broke the trust he had built and he would not pass up the opportunity to taste her again if it were provided.
Dacian’s frustration over not being able to use his left hand to distract him self with other parts of her other than her mouth was only fanning the flames. Just to be able to slip both of his arms around her waist would help draw his attention away from her lips. It was as if his control was distributed throughout his body and as a whole they were strong but with Cassie acting as the besieging army, her lips were launching a full force attack on his mouth and his defensive walls were beginning to crumble under the assault.
Her arms slipping around his waist relieves him a little, and he responded by pressing his hips a little closer. He had sad he would behave himself, though he was regretting that now. The feel of her warm hands on his lower back brought another low noise from his throat, and he pulled back as she came up for air. Oh yes. Mortals needed air, didn’t they? He’d have to remember that, else he’d suffocate her with kisses. He could think of worse ways to go.
Their lips no longer locked, Dacian regained a fraction of intelligence which he seemed to have lost to his desires during the kiss. She had pulled away far, and he could still feel his lips tingling with the kiss and their anticipation at her closeness. If this was it, he would have to move away completely else he’d soon be breaking the newly made deal. Dacian mustered up some resolve, but before he could act, her one word ruined it all.
More.
His mouth came down on hers with renewed vigour, his fangs dangerously close to piercing her lower lip. His hand at the nape of her neck clung desperately to her, and he had to wrench it away before he started hurting her. Instead he rested it on her hip, but it was soon exploring under her shirt and taking up residence on the bared skin of her lower back, mirroring her in part. More could mean anything and he was tired of resisting all of this. He had her kisses and that was driving him insane, building up an impossible tension. He couldn’t take her blood to release it and that was only adding to the problem. Her desire for ‘more’ opened up another avenue for release, and perhaps pushing his luck would pay off.
Letting the man take charge over the vampire was an odd sensation, as the mortal parts of him were usually redundant in most situations and kept easily under control. What was left of his humanity was weak, but he realised that when it came to Cassie, being a little weaker was essential. For once, he needed to be human. Allowing his desire for her body and not her blood have free reign eased his internal tension and the kiss calmed a little. In contrast to that, however, his hips were subtly moving against hers, testing her definition of ‘more’.

They were pressed so close together that Cassie felt the low sound that escaped Dacian at her touch reverberate through her. She gave a sly smile, chest still heaving as she tried to get her breath back. Perhaps the oxygen deprivation had reached her brain, but Cassie felt no returning of sanity as they pulled apart a little. A pout slipped onto her lips and for a moment she thought that he was going to end things there, damn her need to breathe.
It seemed her plea had been enough to spur him into action again and their lips crashed together with some force. Some small part of her kiss addled brain realised how close she’d come to catching her lip on his fangs, but Cassie found she didn’t care. Either she trusted Dacian that much or her sense of self preservation had long been lost under a tide of wanton lust. The intensity between them was constantly building, as was the pressure of his hand on her neck, but before it became too much his grip loosened, hand dropping to her waist.
Cassie shuddered as cool fingers tickled across the skin of her lower back, his hand slipping beneath the fabric of her shirt to leach on her warmth. She responded by running her hand up his spine, fingers clutching at his shoulder blade to hold them closer still. Some of the intensity melted out of this kiss, it was still enjoyable, but Cassie didn’t feel quite as much like her knees were going to buckle at any moment.
It had the added advantage of allowing her to focus on the repeated press of his hips against hers and she smiled into the kiss. Dacian couldn’t have interpreted her request for more in a better way if he’d been reading her mind, which she was fairly certain he couldn’t do. If he could she hoped he was enjoying her not exactly innocent plans for where this one stolen kiss might lead. She responded in kind, letting out the smallest of moans at the blissful friction. As her hands slipped up his spine, he encouraged her with some deeper kisses. He was exploring the contours of her mouth now, caressing the sensitive roof of her mouth and stroking her tongue as it moved against his. No longer intent on drawing blood at every movement of her lips, he was carefully kissing her, directing her tongue away from his fangs when she drew too close. The slight dig of her nails on his shoulder blades had him pressing closer, his eyes rolling in pleasure under their lids and he gave an involuntary shudder and a slight groan.
The response of her hips to his and her smile against his mouth caused a slight smile of his own. So ‘more’ had meant something more substantial than kissing. How delightful. His right arm curved further around her waist, holding them firmly together. By now, it was quite obvious he was happy to comply to her wishes, and he pushed against her with more deliberate rhythm. Standing was starting to get tedious with his injured arm sapping his will to stay on his feet and so with more difficulty than normal, he lifted Cassie enough to take her over to the bed.
It was a strain, not because Cassie was particularly heavy, but all his strength was directed to healing his crippled arm which left nothing for the rest of his limbs. With almost mortal ungainliness, he had to shuffle rather than walk and when the back of her calves hit the bed, he couldn’t lower her slowly so he settled for falling back with her. He stopped kissing her long enough to ensure their teeth wouldn’t clash when they landed and as soon as he was settled comfortably atop her, his lips were moving on hers again.
His left arm had been fairly bearable for the duration of their newly discovered passion but his inability to move it into any position resembling comfortable was prompting it to demand more attention. Dacian trying his best to ignore it and used his other elbow to prop his chest up above Cassie’s so she could actually breathe as they kissed. He was dangerously close now to demanding the removal of her clothes, and with some difficult manoeuvring, his right hand managed to find the buttons on her shirt while he was still supported above her.
The paralysed arm was starting to burn again, and the man pulled away from the kiss with a grimace, his hand abandoning the fumbling task of undoing her shirt. He growled out a frustrated noise, grudgingly stopping all movements against her. With a sigh, Dacian opened his eyes and looked down on Cassie’s face from a few inches above her. “We can’t. Not yet.” He said, though it was a strain. This close to her, already so eager beyond belief to continue, he knew the pain in his arm would only worsen to ruin it. He was determined to make their first full encounter something as close to perfect as he could manage and right now, he was less than perfect.
He was unwilling to move away, as separating would dispel the delicious warmth between them. He nuzzled into her neck, skimming only briefly over her pulse on his way to nibbling at her ear. The least rationalising part of him was less than happy with the sudden stop, and he couldn’t resist one last move of his pelvis against hers. He grumbled, annoyed at his apparent lack of control. “You have no idea how much I want this, want you.” He kissed her cheek before resting his forehead on hers, his eyes closed. “Two weeks. Two weeks and we can do this however much you like, however you like, but just not yet.” His arm would take at least that much time to be functional enough to play bed games, but Cassie could change her mind in that time. A devious smile curved his lips. He would just have to ensure he maintained her interest.

Cassie abandoned all coherent thought, her desperation ratcheting up another notch as he deepened the kiss. She wanted to explore his mouth as freely as he was exploring hers, but every time her tongue came close Dacian pushed it back. Cassie let out a guttural moan of frustration, he wasn’t playing fair. She didn’t have long to dwell on it though as his hips rolled into hers over and over, building in intensity now that their intentions were completely out in the open. If their deal meant doing this whenever she wanted then Cassie would be very satisfied indeed.
Just as she was beginning to think things were far too vertical Dacian seemed to have the same idea, his arm wrapping tighter around her waist to hoist her up and away from the wall. Cassie was only too happy to oblige, her arm hooking over his shoulder, clinging on so there was no chance of them breaking their lip lock as he moved them. In no time they were at the bed and the push of the mattress against her legs was the only warning she got before she was falling backwards.
Her breath whooshed out of her lungs involuntarily as she hit the bed, Dacian crashing down on top of her, but catching himself before he completely squished her. Cassie could only gasp, eyes darkened with lust as her legs moved up to wrap around his waist, pulling herself up to press against him again. Dacian shifted above her, his hand finding it’s way to the buttons of her shirt. He was doing a remarkable job of this mind reading business, her every desire barely even had time to form before he was there fulfilling it.
Cassie let out a satisfied hum, her eyes fluttering open as she realised rather belatedly that it wasn’t a temporary pause in his ministrations and the growl had not been one of lust. She looked up at him, still breathless and his hair falling forward to tickle at her cheek. This couldn’t be happening, even when she’d managed bury her guilt about betraying Ed under an unhealthy dose of reckless desire she still wasn’t going to get Dacian. Not the way she wanted. What was wrong with him, had he suddenly decided to take things slow?
If it was some kind of joke she wasn’t laughing. In fact Cassie could quite easily have cried with frustration. Her breath hitched obviously at his lips on her throat, drinking in every last bit of passion he had to offer. ”Two weeks?” She repeated incredulously, propping herself up on an elbow. ”But why?” The whine in her voice was obvious, as was the pout on her thoroughly kissed lips. Cassie wasn’t used to being told no, especially not at such a crucial moment. As far as she could tell things had been going pretty well and if the way her heart was still hammering against her ribcage was any indication they'd been going very well indeed.

She couldn’t be any more enticing if she tried. All those little noises of disappointment were amassing to drive him over the top. Only the niggling pain in his arm kept him from taking that two week suspension back. Two weeks to an immortal vampire was usually nothing, but now it felt like decades. Two weeks? But why? He was asking himself the same thing. Her pout was just asking to be kissed and he placed one last one on the corner of her mouth.
Moving away from her was like trying to pry apart two super-magnetized pieces of haematite. The first few inches seemed impossible but the further he got, the easier it became. Too tired to move far, he rolled off of her to the left, instantly regretting it at his arm screamed in pain. He gave a hiss of pain and rearranged the paralysed arm so it lay more comfortably. Dacian lay back on the bed with a sigh, raising one brow as he looked to Cassie.
“You really think I can please you thoroughly with a dead and very painful weight where my left arm used to be?” The vampire rolled his eyes, frustrated with himself rather than her. He averted his gaze to the ceiling, revelling in the lingering pangs of desire still coursing through him. “I don’t know where he got it, but I haven’t been hit with anything that potent for a cen—.” He was unsure how she might react to knowing his age, particularly the large divisions in which he could devide his existance into, though she no doubt knew he was older than he looked. “For a while.” He concluded, grudgingly admitting his weaknesses to Cassie was more than any other person would get but she had seen him at his weakest, what was there to hide now? “Two weeks will give it enough time to heal for what you have in mind.”
He looked back to her, his eyes still swimming with desire. He realised she hadn’t asked who had hurt him yet: had she guessed? He supposed it wasn’t exactly an enormous leap of logic, but he had expected her to at least want to try and defend him. Was she used to it? Did he usually go round crippling threats to her affections? He reached his right hand across his body, wanting to hold hers again. Edward was earning far too much of his attention. He had a sweet and passionate woman at his side and he was wasting time thinking about Edward. How… utterly revolting.
“I’d like to clarify,” he said, his voice low and smooth, “Kisses are your responsibility now.” He took her hand and clasped it gently. “And now is a very good opportunity to take advantage of that fact.” Regardless of his fatigue, stretching out this intimacy ranked above sleeping right now. He’d happily lock his lips with hers until dawn, though there was that pesky fact of her needing to breathe. Though sex was out of the question, kissing was an entirely different matter. So alluring was the act, he might have avoided another round if his arm wasn’t dealing him considerable punishment for fear of sparking off another frenzied need for naked skin and a sudden incapability to defy certain primal urges.
Thought of naked skin reminded him he was half-naked, and she wasn’t. That was entirely unfair, wasn’t it? His hand had left hers and was half way to her shirt buttons before he caught himself. Snatching the hand back, he draped his good arm over his face with a frustrated grunt. “God, girl. You’re impossible.”

Cassie, still reluctant to slow things down, leaned into the kiss he placed on the corner of her mouth, trying to follow Dacian as he pulled away to prolong the contact. When it became clear he was intent on moving away from her she flopped back onto the bed with a sigh. As he rolled off her Cassie shifted onto her side, propping her head up onto her head so she could look at him, which she realised too late only made her want to kiss him again.
A shiver of anticipation ran down her spine. If this was Dacian apparently unable to please her fully then she was in for a world for fun in two weeks time. The mention of his arm sobered her a little. She’d managed to forget about that, a feat which should have been nigh on impossible considering she’d been worried he was going to die the evening before. Then again with those lips, that tongue and the way his hips had pressed into her who could really blame her?
Understanding why they had to wait didn’t make it any easier to accept though and Cassie bit into her lip to keep from saying anything that would sound whiney or childish. Thankfully she had Dacian to distract her. Cassie looked at him with curiosity. Exactly how old was he? It had sounded like he’d been about to say century. Was he really that old? Perhaps older. To Dacian two weeks must seem like no time at all, but to Cassie it seemed like forever away.
She didn’t want to hurt him though and she felt a flare of anger at Edward that she had done this to Dacian, partially fuelled by her own frustration. Her gaze flicked to the injured arm, it looked no better, if anything the painful burns had come up more fully, skin and angry red and blistered. She was surprised he’d even been standing, let alone carrying her across the room. ”I’m sorry,” She said quietly, still somehow feeling this mess was her fault.
A smile found its way onto her lips as his hand reached for hers, so they weren’t quite finished playing yet, now the challenge would just be stopping again. ”So they are.” Cassie said lightly as though just remembering this fact. She sat up a little more a giggle catching in her throat as Dacian’s hand reached for the buttons on her shirt before he stopped himself. ”Just stop me if I hurt you, okay?” She asked, leaning awkwardly over his injured arm to make sure she didn’t accidentally jog it. Now that she’d been reminded about it she couldn’t help being acutely aware that Dacian was injured.

Lying down seemed to encourage the weariness and it crept like a warm spill through his limbs. He was determined to stretch this out, however, so it was with partly-lidded eyes that he looked up at Cassie. For a mortal, she was exceedingly appealing and he would make the most of this opportunity. Humans had depressingly short lives, and even shorter attention spans. Who knew when she would decide this wasn’t what she wanted. Dacian intended to be exactly what she wanted for as long as he could manage, though the arm was a setback. He would have to play it safe for these two weeks of self-restraint in order to be in a position to do this all properly when the time came.
Cassie’s concern over his health was something he was still puzzled over. Was he coming across as someone who needed her sympathy? He supposed he hadn’t exactly given her a clear representation of his survival instincts. First he had been a false charmer, then he’d come to her weak and beaten and apart from the almost biting her episode, he had been quite genial. If she’d listened to Edward, she might not be so compassionate.
His right hand lifted, cupping her cheek as she leaned in. “You have nothing to be sorry for.” He said, earnest gaze on her pale eyes. He couldn’t help but chuckle as she worried about hurting him. “Unless you’re planning to stake me, I don’t believe you can hurt me.” The depression of the mattress as she came in close did move his arm and caused a minor facial twitch. The vampire didn’t think she could avoid it but the pain was constant but for the proximity of those addictive lips, he could resist it.
His cool hand slipped up her cheek to rest on the back of her neck, not pulling her in this time, just resting there. “I don’t want you to stop.” He whispered as she closed that last inch and that warm feeling of comfort mixed with the exhaustion. If his body had anything to do with it, it would be the one to pt a stop to this against his will.
